KAVINDELE COMMENDS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S EFFORTS TO BRING HOME EDGAR LUNGU’S REMAINS
By Chamuka Shalubala
Former Vice President Enoch Kavindele says President Hakainde Hichilema has done his best to ensure the remains of late 6th Republican President Edgar Lungu are repatriated and laid to rest.
Mr. Kavindele, who was part of the government delegation sent to South Africa to negotiate the repatriation of Mr. Lungu said it is unwise for the country to proceed into elections while the former head of state’s remains are unburied, 10 months after his passing.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Kavindele expressed regret that the former president has not been buried despite government efforts.
He noted that while it is unclear who benefits from the delay to bury the former head of state, those seeking to exploit the situation, particularly in an election year, are misguided.
