Kaunda laughs off dissolution of PF Lusaka executive

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Lusaka Province acting youth chairman Kelvin Kaunda has laughed off an announcement made by acting party secretary general Nickson Chilangwa this morning that the provincial excutive had been suspended.

Kaunda insists that Chilangwa has no powers to suspend an executive that was elected by party officials with a clear mandate.

He said calling for an early convention to replace losing leader Edgar Lungu’s should not be the basis for the Central Committee to dissolve the provincial executive.

Kaunda proposed that instead of suspending the Lusaka provincial executive, the PF Central Committee should develop a consultative approach with provincial executives across the country in dealing with party matters.

“The Central Committee should realise that they are the main reason why we lost elections. Because of arrogance and not listening to people is what has made us to be in the opposition today. So the dissolution of the Lusaka provincial executive is null and void,” Kaunda said.

“We should not allow the party to die and the Central Committee should come to us with a voice of reason and they should do the right thing and put personal interests aside,” added Kaunda.

This morning, Chilangwa announced that the Central Committee had resolved to dissolve the Lusaka Province executive because the party lost massively in Lusaka and was fearing the Kennedy Kamba-led executive’s losing spirit could haunt the party in the pending Kabwata by-election occassioned by the death of area lawmaker, Levy Mukandawire last week.
