Former Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made explosive allegations involving Kenyan President William Ruto and late Zimbabwean billionaire Wicknell Chivayo. Speaking during an engagement in the United States, Gachagua claimed that Chivayo was a close associate of Ruto and was allegedly used to hold and move large sums of money on the president’s behalf.
According to Gachagua, Chivayo’s death in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe has created uncertainty because the businessman allegedly had control of more than KSh1.5 trillion. Gachagua further claimed that the funds were connected to Ruto, although he did not provide evidence to support the allegations.
Chivayo, one of Zimbabwe’s most well-known businessmen, died alongside his wife in a helicopter crash, a tragedy that shocked many across Southern Africa. Following his death, political debate intensified after Gachagua publicly linked the businessman to alleged financial and political dealings involving Kenya’s leadership.
The allegations remain unproven, and no public evidence has been presented to substantiate the claims made by Gachagua.
