Kitwe youth butchers mother

EVEN before the country recovers from the trauma caused by a 19-year old boy who killed both his parents in Lusaka a month ago, another youth on the Copperbelt has butchered his mother to death.

It is reported that 48-year-old Elizabeth Tiyango was at her Twikatane farms of Mwambashi Branch in Chambishi yesterday afternoon, roasting dry fish for the family lunch when her 22-year son Marvelous Tiyango suddenly appeared and started to sharpen a knife.

After brushing the knife against a rock a few times, with ill-intent written all over his face, Marvelous briskly jogged towards his mother who upon noticing the evil in his eyes took to her heels.

In complete contrast to his name, the murderous son pursued his fleeing mother and when he was unable to catch up with her resorted to pelting her with rocks as she fled.

Unfortunately, one of the missiles landed on her back and brought her to the ground and before she could rise, her son arrived and repeatedly stabbed her and in the process inflicted fatal injuries to her back, right arm, forehead.

Sure that she was dead, Marvelous then dragged his mother whose nose was oozing with blood to a nearby incomplete kisok as his young 12-year old sister Betshaber, watched the gruesome incident in shock and fear.

Copperbelt provincial Commissioner Sharon Zulu has confirmed the murder in a statement to #Kalemba.

The police chief said the case was reported by Noah Tiyango, husband of the deceased and father to the suspect.

For his unthinkable act, Marvelous is in police custody having a not-so marvelous time as he awaits meeting with a High Court judge who will in turn set him an appointment with a hangman.
