LAZ CAN DO BETTER THAN CHEAP TALK – LAURA MITI

The 2021 FIC report is damning for the law profession. It makes it clear that, in the last few years, much of the money gained illicitly by politically connected people was laundered by lawyers. The amounts are staggering.
LAZ has thankfully produced a statement promising to cooperate with relevant authorities investigating the cases.
My question, though, is, how could LAZ miss the fact that its members were involved in fraudulence and money laundering. involving millions of dollars?
Surely, LAZ owes the nation a better response than – we are concerned. What will it do to plug the holes that allow such greed fuelled grand scale crookedness to flourish?
