LET US BE HONEST — THERE IS NO CRISIS IN ZAMBIA, THERE IS A CRISIS OF NARRATIVE
================

State House has spoken today, and it needed to be said.
There is no crisis in Zambia.
What is there is a crisis of narrative.
The Catholic Bishops released their pastoral letter on 30th September.
State House has responded today, 1st October, through Clayson Hamasaka.
And the response is correct.
Why?
1: You cannot ignore the ballot.
Zambians voted. On August 12, 2021 and beyond. That vote must be respected.
You cannot turn concerns into a national crisis.
Concerns need evidence. Not emotions.
2: Arrest is not persecution.
The law is working.
An arrest is not guilt. But it is also not persecution.
Whether you are a politician or a Bishop — the law applies equally.
If you say you were unlawfully detained, prove it in court.
Do not call it abduction when it is a lawful arrest.
3: Zambia is not at war.
State House is right.
This country is not at war. There is no military rule.
Our soldiers are in barracks, not in markets.
To paint Zambia as a military state is to lie to the world.
4: President HH just brought $2.14 Billion from UAE.*
While they are shouting crisis in Lusaka, HH is bringing investment from Abu Dhabi.
While they are shouting UNGA protests with 6 people, HH is discussing new IMF programme and 7% growth.
The country was gone. We recovered it.
That is what President Hichilema said today, and he is right.
Inflation is now 6.1% — inside BOZ target.
Bank of Zambia has cut interest rate from 13.25% to 10.75%.
Money is coming back to the people.
That is not a country in crisis.
That is a country recovering.
So let the Church pray, but let facts remain facts.
Dialogue is welcome. But dialogue must respect the electoral verdict.
Zambia is not in crisis. Zambia is working again.
