Like Bibian Green said ILR is NOT the same as being a British citizen.

Having Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) means you have permission to live and work in the UK indefinitely. But you remain a citizen of your original country and continue to rely on your own nationality and passport for international travel.

A British citizen, on the other hand, is a British national. They can hold a British passport, have the right of abode in the UK and are not subject to UK immigration control.

So, if someone is a Zambian citizen with an ILR, they are still Zambian. Their UK immigration status does not turn them into a British citizen or give them a British passport.

And this distinction matters when we’re talking about passport cancellations and international travel.

ILR gives you the right to live in Britain. British citizenship gives you British nationality. They are two very different things.

  1. You should have explained that to the mentally unstable Lilian Mutambo. This lady was bewitched by a dog, which was later run over by a drunk driver; otherwise, the dog could have reverse-engineered the curse. Objectively speaking, Lilian isn’t normal. She needs help, even from inside the prison cell. She needs to room up with Chisono.
