Love Triangle Blamed for Ninth Ekurhuleni Killing as Three Suspects Head to Court
The tragic murder of Jabulile Ntimba, the ninth woman found dead in the Ekurhuleni region over the last two months, appears to be the result of a love triangle rather than a serial killer.
Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, the Deputy National Police Commissioner for Policing, confirmed the breakthrough to the media, bringing a wave of clarity to a string of horrific crimes that have gripped the Gauteng East Rand in fear.
Ntimba’s body was discovered on Thursday morning, 17 September, in Dawn Park, Boksburg. She had been brutally stabbed and her throat slit.
Her death marked the ninth body of a woman uncovered in the broader Ekurhuleni area since July, raising widespread anxiety across communities and triggering fears of a serial predator on the loose.
However, investigators from the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit moved swiftly, apprehending three suspects two women and one man.
Law enforcement has now established that Ntimba’s death is an isolated incident driven by personal conflict rather than linked to the broader pattern of area killings.
“The murder appears to be linked to a love triangle,” Lieutenant General Mosikili stated.
The three suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court this morning to face charges for their alleged involvement in the killing.
While this specific arrest provides answers for Ntimba’s grieving family, South African Police Service (SAPS) multidisciplinary teams remain deployed at full force.
Highly specialised detectives continue to work around the clock to solve the remaining eight homicides across Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, and KwaThema, which remain a top national priority amid ongoing outrage over gender-based violence.
