Luapula poor because tribal politics – HH

LUAPULA Province has been lagging behind in development because the people of the region had from time immemorial have only been promoting their tribesmen to be presidents of the country, President Hakainde Hichilema has said.

President Hichilema says Luapula Province was supposed to the richest region in Zambia but political fights and tribalism had negated the economic progression in the region. Mr Hichilema told the people of Chienge that individuals could not be eaten but their works was what should count, stating that Zambians needed good leadership that united the people.

Mr Hichilema said this when he met chiefs who were attending the ceremony from seven provinces in Chiengi district in Luapula province where he was attending the Builile Traditional Ceremony.- Daily  Nation

    • HH has said the truth and truth pains. Look.at the cabinet composition,Ma Ps ,CEO s and appointments in the foreign service. The problem of thiking is bemba tribalism is being. Check the trajectory from now on wards. In 1996 all President from the opposition were from your place.

  1. No need to point fingers at one another, all of us Zambians are primitive Tribalists. The sooner we accept that fact, the less “Chest Pains” we will suffer. Our Psyche and DNA as a people is that of always playing Ostrich and Pharisees.

  2. Zambians, let us just accept that we got it very wrong in 2021. This one has taken us backwards.

To be honest, it is our own fault. We should have listened to KK when he warned us about this tribalist conman.

    Vote wisely in 2026.

  3. simpo sitali, I like your forthright views. All the same kudos to the president for condemning Luapula tribalism. But was the president this candid in condemning the serious tribalism in Zambezi, NWP when he was there last week to attend some ceremony? Zambezi is a blot on Zambia and the earlier he tackles the scourge there the better. Around this time last year social media was awash with images of violence influenced by tribalism in Zambezi. I wonder if there is any development to talk about there. Clearly tribalism like corruption have continued unabated even under UPND.

      • That is not you though, you always twist things to suit your tribal and tribal skewed political agenda. Tribalism, just like racism is from ignorant minds, that are based on some sub standard thought of superiority. Tribalists like racists think they are better than others, hypocritically they don’t like it if another stupid race or tribe thinks they are better than others.
The good thing is hardcore tribalists are a vocal minority, the rest of us just live our lives knowing in our families we are a melting pot of Zambia and the rest of the world.
You are an intelligent man, why don’t you use that intelligence to build, building through objective criticism be it of UPND or anyone else that is not helping to rebuild our country. We serve Zambia better when we are being substantive, objective, fair, truthful and addressing things away from malice and even treating those we don’t like with fairness.
From labelling others as Bantustans, now to the Zambezi people, where will it end? The truth though, thank God, there is lots of the so called Zambezi people mixed up with North and East.
Thank God, majority Zambians are not pygmies in thought.

    • Bembas the problem you have is that you think you are special. It’s unfortunate for you to even start condemning HH. He has said the truth and stop thie nonsense of your petty tribal talk.
Call us Zambezi people we don’t care ,look at your tribalism during PF. Sata started destroying this country and Lungu instead changing things he destroyed further.
Go on the Copperbelt, the Lambas are refusing to called that they’re Bembas. Why because of selfishness

  4. There is a Tribalist always seeing things in tribal lenses. This is the chief Tribalist in Zambia. He lives Tribe, he breathes tribe, that is his oxygen . This is the person who has divided Zambia through his Tribalism. He became party president through Tribalism..and rode on it to get state power
Don’t contaminate the people of Luapula Province with your Tribalism. The profiling you are parading against a group of people is what qualifies as hate speech. This people you are accusing of Tribalism gave you 38% of votes in 2021. These are the people who gave Mwanawasa the Presidency . Meanwhile your Province gave ECL 6%.
This is the only province in Zambia outside Southern Province with a Tonga as a Traditional Chief . Who really is regional and Tribalist? We are tired of your Tribalism..Stay and live with it in southern Province. Leave Luapula Province out of your warped reasoning.

  5. Chakubaba sorry, 2021 was the test that has ever happened to this country. No violence, no tribalism and for you. Just fo and campaign for PFno one will stone and beat you.
Go and tell Zambians what PF will bring. See how many will listen to you.
    All the best.

  6. I feel that part of the news was over edited.Over editing may distort some message that is being delivered. It may have been construed to excite some people. These days one has to be careful with listening and even reading. You may read wrong staff that has no meaning or doesn’t make sense at all.The tendency of misinformation is growing.
