LUBINDA-LED PF OPENS ADOPTION PROCESS FOR 2026 GENERAL ELECTIONS

The Given Lubinda-led Patriotic Front (PF) faction has opened applications for the adoption of candidates ahead of the 2026 general elections, targeting prospective councillors, council chairpersons, mayors, and members of Parliament.
In a statement, PF Deputy Secretary General for Administration, Celestine Mukandila, said the decision was made during a Central Committee meeting.
He added that the Chairperson of Elections would soon issue detailed guidelines on the application process.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mukandila disclosed that the Central Committee resolved to unequivocally dissociate the party from the Tonse Alliance’s ECL-PF movement, which he described as a fictitious and illegal construct promoted by rogue elements seeking to divide the party and undermine the legacy of the late founding president, Michael Chilufya Sata.
Mr. Mukandila further warned that any member associating with the breakaway faction or any illegal Tonse grouping would face severe disciplinary action, including loss of PF membership.
