LUNGU’S FEAR AND PARANOIA OVER HH IN CHINGOLA
President Edgar Lungu fears Hakainde Hichilema in Chingola for a very good reason.
Chingola along with Roan and the 3 seats in Mufulira are the hotspots where PF will be punished the most on the Copperbelt.
The people of Chingola were the first to start moving away from PF in 2016, long before the Roan By Election where PF was given extraordinary punishment by the people of Luanshya.
The Election results in Chingola in 2016 were very close, ECL got 19,711 and HH got 15,549.
With results like these 5 years ago, Lungu has alot to worry about, because in the last 5 years PF has mismanaged the mining sector.
Chingola is a town that survives exclusively on mining.
KCM has 13,000 unhappy employees, the vast majority don’t like the way PF has been running the mine in the last two years.
Suppliers and Contractors are also complaining, and once miners, suppliers and contractors are not having money it translates into less business for everyone else.
With this background, add the current economic mess, inflation, breakdown of the rule of law, gassing which was rife in Chingola, Jerabos who have wreaked havoc in the town and an avalanche of unemployed youths who are first time voters, the PF are guaranteed to lose Chingola district to the UPND Alliance in the 2021 General Elections.
