LUNGU’S ‘PREFERRED SUCCESSOR’, DOES THIS CONCEPT REALLY MATTER?

LUNGU’S ‘PREFERRED SUCCESSOR’, DOES THIS CONCEPT REALLY MATTER?

We have heard a lot about ‘Lungu preferred this one, and Lungu preferred that one”.

This is debated so seriously as though it matters as much as the will of the deceased over their personal estate.

With due respect to the former and late President, his will is limited to his personal estate.

Beyond that, his desires and wishes may be taken only under advisement.

Even if he were still alive, they ll still be taken under advisement.

In fairness to all, it’s important that the field is left open for fair competition.

It’s also important that the wisdom of the voter is allowed to exercise itself in the choice of the next leader.

By so doing, you avoid creating cult personalities and this idea of ‘The Great Leader’ associated with dictatorial political systems.

Don’t forget this: just because someone once served as President doesn’t mean that they have become more wiser than the rest.

This seems to be the psychology that underpins our relations with former Presidents.

Experience does not necessarily lead to wisdom, let alone, the capacity to render sound advice.

So, whatever the preference was of the late President regarding his successor, trust the process by allowing the eligible members of the PF to elect their next leader.

  1. We have had strange Politics in Zambia..There was only a Tonga should Succeed a Tonga once upon a time, when the late Anderson Mazoka passed away.
Then now it’s Edgar Chagwa Lungu annointed Makebi Zulu, actually Mumbi Phiri…not really so , it’s Mudolo. It’s Sean Tembo, no no it’s Kelvin Bwalya Fube..It’s Given Lubinda, it’s Brian Mundubile.
Please don’t continue abusing the man whose Soul is still hovering around, never at rest, because someone wants to stand next to the body…and give a hollow speech..
You are proving to be no better than the one who drags the grieving Widow to Court on the day of burial.
    Please Don’t Abuse the Dead.
Let’s have an elective General Conference, as our President Given Lubinda has indicated, and elect the Leader the Patriotic Front electoral college will choose.
The Legacy of the late President will still live on.

  2. This is exactly why we ended up with the not so sober ECL in when Sata died. Eobashilile nonsense. Guy Scott tried to prevent Lungu but you had opportunits like KBF waking up judges at night and now we sit with this mess. Lungu was a careless president. He is dead. Let the living make decisions and not follow purpoted wishes of a dead man. Zambia is not a title deed for the late Lungu

  3. Doesn’t matter at all..in him house or party which happens to be like war zone. Otherwise nation wise, a No does wonders.

  4. It negates the will of the people and casts members as irrelevant. Who wants to be associated with such a grouping? Who wants to embrace such values and then speak of democracy? All parties that want to form an alliance with such a party clear do know or embrace democracy. Like Mmembe’s socialist party that consorts with dispot governments and their money. Its dufficult to belive that this man or have values stand for the people.
Any party that wants to embrace this should take time to ask whether they want to serve Zambians. Such a value is just about ones self. Self centered
