LUSAKA YOUTHS PROTEST AGAINST THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF HAKAINDE HICHILEMA IN CHINGOLA
The opposition UPND youths leadership in Lusaka jas directed its followers to protest against continued harassment of the party leaders HH by the police wherever he goes to meet electorates ahead of the August 12 presidential and general election.
Provincial youths chairperson Anderson Banda told journalists at a media held at the youths command centre in Lusaka that his executive will today begin a match to Copperbelt in solidarity of the party leadership who the police allegedly shoot at in an attempt to take him out of the presidential race.
Banda said Hichilema has not committed any crime to merit the treatment he is receiving from the PF administration.
He said the country now at the heart of the campaign period and wondered why the PF does not want hichilema to meet the electorate using the prescribed methods, including roadshows and church visitations.
He warned that the youths in only in Lusaka but also countrywide will not allow anything bad to happen to hichilema.
That is the reason why his administration not only direct all the youths in Lusaka to match in solidarity to Hichilema in their jurisdiction while the main body will match to Copperbelt to ensure his safety.
He dared the police to arrest all the youths that will protest in solidarity with hichilema if they can do so.
He said the police does not have the power tk stop campaign apart from providing security to competing parties.
He warned, should anything happen to Hichilema, the police and the PF will be the ones to blame and will have to bear the wrath of the youths.
He advised the PF to win the heart of the people back then using understanding underhand methods to win the elections.
He said elections in Zambia are constitutional matters and wondered why the PF want to take it as though they are doing it a favour to the people of Zambia.
