Macron Vows France Will Stand by Ukraine “As Long as Russia Refuses Peace”
French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, insisting that France will not abandon Ukraine after the progress made since Russia’s invasion.
Macron pledged continued French support for Zelenskyy and Ukraine, saying France would remain firmly on Kyiv’s side even if other allies were to step away.
“By resisting Russia’s war of aggression, Ukraine is fighting to remain free and defending the security of all Europeans. France is and will remain resolutely by its side to defend itself, as long as Russia stubbornly refuses peace,” Macron said Thursday.
The French president’s remarks come amid growing uncertainty over the future of Western support for Ukraine and continuing diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Macron’s statement signals that Paris intends to maintain its military and political backing for Kyiv while Russia continues its military campaign and refuses a settlement that France considers acceptable.
