MAKEBI ZULU CLARIFIES ROLE IN EDGAR LUNGU’S FUNERAL, SAYS HE’S NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPATRIATIO
By: Thomas Afroman Mwale
PF presidential hopeful Makebi Zulu has expressed disappointment over what he describes as ignorance from individuals who mistook his role in the family of the late former president Edgar Lungu, stressing that he is not responsible for repatriating the late president’s remains.
Mr. Zulu clarified that his primary duty is to communicate the family’s decisions as a spokesperson, and not to act as a mediator or negotiator in matters surrounding the funeral process.
Speaking when he featured on Showstar’s House Podcast, he explained that it is possible for a country to hold a state funeral without a sitting head of state present, citing the funerals of fifth republican president Michael Sata and president Levy Mwanawasa, where the acting leader presided.
He further argued that the president, as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, may delegate representation to government officials, as is often done during state funerals of former ministers when the president is not in attendance.

This man is discombabulated….
What were the circumstances that the “Acting Leader” led the nation and the funeral?
Its because the President that was being mourned was still in office. In this case; where the Head of State is being asked not to head of state in the funeral of Edgar Lungu. Is Edgar Lungu; currently head of state?
It sounds like Makebi Zulu is conceeding that the State should repatriate tye body of Edgar Lungu? His tone sounds like one of a person who back tracking from his earlier “digging into the heels” position on the issue.
The Courts in South Africa spoke. So why the posturing by PF, the Lungu family and Makebi?
How can we be led by such a person who lacks consistency in his position? If he didnt believe in the position of the Lungu family. Why didnt he step down from his position as family spokesman? Makebi lacks priniciple and is driven by self interests. Something we see as a common thread among our leaders. People claim they want to ascend into political office to serve when they only want to “sit cushy”.
You cannot be a chief mourner and eyeing the widow at the same time, that is what undertaker has done, he is chief spokes person whole eyeing ascendancy to the seat that the deceased ha s left even before the body is buried and he calls it dignified when he is trying to take up the position even before burial. Any where in the world, a position once held by the deceased is only replaces after burial and not before, here dignified is un degnifying the death of ECL
Makebi Zulu’s recent pronouncements are a troubling disconnect between family spokesperson and public expectation. Zulu has been acting as the family spokesperson since the death of former president Edgar Lungu. Recently, however, he has appeared to be quite frustrated that the public is still not understanding what his role is and what the public should expect from him in the way of communication.
He seems to have taken it upon himself to explain how state funerals work, in general, and why it isn’t borked for Zambia to hold one without a sitting president. Quite frankly, Makebi’s dishonest behavior is astounding and disqualifying for leadership. Who can he fool that he is not the Lungu family leader, couched as spokesperson?
Long story short, Makebi sees that plan B, Lungu going into hiding, is not working. Lungu, the crook, is comfortable and drinking Jameson while his stupid puppets make noise. This fool, Makebi, can hardly attest that he has seen Lungu’s remains. Makebi and his PF minions must be rejected at all costs.
Unfortunately, the catholic Bishops, led by Alick Banda, have avoided to respond to this scheme, preferring to go on a protest. This behavior is dangerous.
