MATERO RESULTS TO BE DECLARED

By: Lukonshya Sakala

The Returning Officer for Lusaka’s Matero Constituency says the declaration of results will proceed despite the reported theft of two ballot boxes at Lilanda Primary School.

The two ballot boxes one containing Presidential ballots and the other for the National Assembly election were allegedly stolen after violent activities erupted at the polling station on polling day as stakeholders prepared to commence the counting process.

The Returning Officer says the matter is now beyond their control, adding that everything within their mandate has been done to address the situation.

The announcement of results has since been paused, with the Returning Officer indicating that the process will resume after two hours.

  1. Zambians are easily fired up. Let the free education help us in this regard. Night schools should be revamped to help out older citizens to help them analyse political issues from an informed position. I suggest basic economics be included in the curriculum.
