MNANGAGWA ARRIVES IN NEW YORK FOR UNGA81

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in New York, United States, ahead of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81)

Mnangagwa travelled from Harare on Friday and is set to join world leaders at the United Nations headquarters for the high-level General Debate, which runs from September 21 to 25.

This year’s UNGA is being held under the theme: “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

The President’s attendance comes at a significant moment for Zimbabwe’s multilateral diplomacy, following the country’s election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the 2027–2028 term.

Zimbabwe will take up its two-year Security Council seat on January 1, 2027.

Mnangagwa is expected to address the General Assembly during the high-level debate as Zimbabwe joins other nations in discussions on global peace, security, development and international cooperation.
