MUMBA HAILS LOYAL POLITICIANS WHO STAY AFTER REJECTION
Leadership and Governance Consultant Bonface Mumba has paid tribute to party members who do not defect when they are overlooked for adoption to contest elective positions.
In a media statement released today, the BCM Advisory Consult Managing Consultant stressed that true leadership is not defined by the offices one holds.
Mumba added that the conduct of Clement Tembo and Ketty Nanyangwe, who remained in the UPND after being passed over, offers a powerful lesson in political maturity.
He observed that both leaders turned their personal disappointment into constructive mobilisation for other candidates, rather than walking away.
Mumba noted that their decision to campaign for the party instead of running as independents placed national interest above individual ambition.
He advanced that loyalty is most clearly tested when there is no immediate personal reward, and both leaders passed that test.
Mumba said that their actions set a positive precedent for aspiring candidates who may face similar setbacks in future elections.
He affirmed that consistency in grassroots engagement had already earned them community trust, and staying the course only reinforced that credibility.
Mumba emphasised that integrity over convenience should be encouraged across Zambia’s political space
He cited the two former aspirants as examples of how disappointment can be channelled into constructive action rather than disruption.
Mumba further cited their refusal to blame the party or the system, choosing instead to accept outcomes with maturity and grace.
He further said their example should help reduce the destabilising effect of frequent defections and independent bids in future electoral cycles.
