NINE expelled PF MPs have applied to the Lusaka High Court for leave to commence judicial review proceedings against the decision of second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Moyo to declare their seats vacant.

The nine, who have also cited the Attorney General, want a declaration that Moyo’s decision dated July 3, 2024, declaring their nine parliamentary seats vacant, is illegal as the Patriotic Front has not expelled them from the party.

They further want a declaration that Moyo’s decision to declare their seats vacant on the ground that the action in the Constitutional Court had been dismissed, without having regard to the fact that there was an active matter, is irrational, unreasonable and unjustified, as their purported…

  1. Ba PF MPs losers were threatening to resign from their Parliamentary Seats in order to cause Constitutional crisis. Does it mean now the PF MPs have regained their nolmacy for them to see Court redress over their expulsion from Parliament? Aikona Man this is total confusion sure!

  2. The question to answer here is, was the former President sworn in twice? It is not about the length of time in that position.

Since the Presidency is tied to the running of Parliament for a particular term, which in this casewas still running.

It follows that regardless of whether a full term was served or not , the person elected to complete the term as President within the prescribed life span of the sitting Parliament . He will be deemed to have been legally sworn in as President to serve the remaining term. Hence the first term. There should be no arguments about this.

If we follow this plain line of thought it is undoubtedly clear that two terms were served. Common sense here must prevail.

Any other explainantion is simply playing politics and once subjected to be scrutinized properly under the current law in place. It is bound to fall off side to what is permissable.

In light of such enlightenment the law is striaght forward despite many people trying to confuse , misguide and misconstrue a fact.

It is there left for the legal experts to clarify on the facts attached to this very contentious issue.

  3. The PF is a party of jokers who have failed to unite themselves. The party is of full hypocrites, selfish and greedy leaders. The party which lost power 2 years ago is behaving as those they never formed government.

This is why I have great respect and admiration of the UPND. It stayed in the opposition for more that 10 years despite being discriminated, humiliated, sidelined and propagated falsely as a tribal party it managed to surmount the challenges and continued to offer constructive checks and balances to government. On the other hand, what we see today happening in PF is rubbish and confusion and soon the party will disintegrate and be thrown into a dust bin.

The new dawn government has created a conducive level political playing ground for all political parties but instead of appreciating the conducive environment opposition political parties are always blaming the UPND government for their failures and self inflicted confusion and disunity.

Let the PF sort out its leadership crisis it is facing. The PF has a loud diarrhoea mouth for nothing because its leadership is by chancing and chancing leadership always fail to lead.
