NIGER OFFICER NAMES CHAD, FRANCE, AND BAZOUM FAMILY IN MUTINY PLOT

Captain Roger Gabriel has dropped a bombshell on Niger’s state television. He says the failed mutiny was not a simple soldier uprising. It was an international plot to bring down the junta.

He claims he received calls from a Chadian colonel. The officer told him that Chad and French special forces were preparing to intervene. Their goal was to support the mutineers who had seized control of Air Base 101.

Gabriel also says he was contacted by relatives of former President Mohamed Bazoum. They told him Benin and Ivory Coast had secured ECOWAS approval to send in French forces stationed in Abidjan.

He says he received calls from numbers in France, Belgium, and Dubai.

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby has not directly denied the claims. He posted a Quranic verse on Facebook: Do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth knowingly.

The other accused countries have remained silent.

The mutiny was crushed by Niger’s presidential guard with help from Russian Africa Corps drones. Three guardsmen died.

The junta came to power by coup in 2023. Now it is fighting off plots from its own soldiers. And it is pointing fingers at its former colonial master and neighbours.

If these allegations are true, France is still trying to pull the strings in the Sahel. If they are false, the junta is manufacturing enemies to justify its grip on power.

Either way, Niger is not stable.
