NKOMBO IMPRESSED WITH CHINESE COMPANIES
Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Garry NKOMBO has encouraged showgoers and farmers to visit the Chinese arena and see the different products and services being offered.
The minister was speaking Saturday afternoon, August 3, 2024, when he toured the stands.
NKOMBO appreciated the diversity of Chinese companies in offering products and services. The minister said Zambia and Chinese people should continue with such collaboration, adding that it is contributing highly to the country’s economy through knowledge, innovation, and work being shared.
NKOMBO has therefore thanked the show society for a well-organised exhibition and said that it is during this time that various stakeholders showcase their products to the public and add value to a meaningful society.
In attendance was Zambia Chinese Association President Wu Ming, who expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit. Mr. Ming said that his association is open and ready to work together with the government in order to offer good and quality service to the people of Zambia.
And Zambia Chinese Association vice president, Mr. Liu, also expressed confidence in working towards developing and strengthening the relationship Zambia and China are enjoying.
Earlier in the morning, the Zambia Chinese Association was awarded as the platinum sponsor during the 2024 Agriculture and Commercial Show.
The visiting Burundi president, Eavariste Ndayishimiye, and president Hakainde Hichilema presented the award immediately after the official opening.

You don’t work with the Zambian Government, you partner with the Zambian people themselves. Otherwise working with the Government it means u just want tenders from Government, u came here to take and not to give. Your message is clear. People who give, work with the people themselves. E.g world vision, Pepfar, including now Konkola mines, Cobold etc. Those are on the ground and working with the people. But as for chines companies, they don’t benefit anyone but Chinese only as their meetings is all Chinese only there. So ma cho cho li, awe ba minister relax on these people. Cos even this sponsorship, they probably already gave you conditions to give them a copper mine in return or exempt them from tax in their companies. Nothing is ever for free from a Chinese person. So minister, you can’t be this stupid. Common, you are a clever man , that I know. Pls use your intelligence
Well said. From a philosophical point of view you make a great point about thr manner some Chinese come into this country and their attitude. Its important for our leaders to remind those that come and seek to assist or work/live here. They are guests and we will respect them more if the abide by the law and have this attitude. But we as Zambians also need to remember that that doesnt mean we mistreat our guests and make them feel subservant. No! Respect is a two street. Lets learn from them when they excel. And what makes them excel
Are the products manufactured in Zambia for you,ex Educator to praise the Chinese ?As long as the products are made outside Zambia praising the presenters is misplaced as the scenario creates no employment for the young Zambians. This is my view regarding Chinese activities in Africa, particularly in Zambia
