One Zambia, One Region!
By Sishuwa Sishuwa
Ali Simwinga has left the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) after President Hichilema decided not to renew his contract as commissioner. He becomes the third commissioner to leave ECZ since the election of Hichilema who also did not renew the contracts of Esau Chulu and Emily Sikazwe. With Simwinga’s exit, the ECZ is now left with four commissioners, all from one region — Mwangala Zaloumis, Vincent Mukanda, Ndiyoi Mutiti, and McDonald Chipenzi.
To those who may find the irrefutable facts stated above uncomfortable, please note that I did not create them. I am merely stating them as they exist today: On assuming office in 2021, President Hichilema found five commissioners at the ECZ who were all appointed by his predecessor. These five were Ndiyoyi Mutiti, Vincent Mukanda, Ali Simwinga, Esau Chulu and Emily Sikazwe from Western, Northwestern, Northern, Eastern and Eastern provinces, respectively.
Since then, three commissioners have had their contracts not renewed by Hichilema. The latest occurred on 30 June 2025 when Ali Simwinga left the ECZ, following the earlier exits of Chulu and Sikazwe in 2022. So far, Hichilema has replaced departing commissioners with individuals from his region.
Before anyone catches feelings, please note that all I have done is to state facts as they exist now without any opinion from me. If I am crossing the river by feet, what is wrong with stating the fact that my feet are in water?

Here comes Mr Know-it-all again. Are they not qualified? Are they not Zambian? If Ali Simwinga had served for that long, why renew the contract when others could equally take over?
Why should one Zambezi region preside over a country called Zambia?
How the Northern East Zambia preside over Zanbia for 11 years? Are the Zambezians not capable? Are further appointments not coming ?
I spent my childhood in Solwezi even if I am of Southern/Luapula extraction.I mingled with the children of the now famous names like Nalumino Mundia,Bautis ,Liboma,Kapulu,Mutati, Kambobe,Brg.Gen.Mulopala,Jalasi,Sondashi and many other such luminaries. At the same time we mixed with kids from compounds like kifubwa, kimasala, magredi and the like .Now, with hindsight,I am astonished to realize that none of us kids were even slightly aware that we all communicated in and spoke Bemba. It simply did not mâtter as we played
This fact of the innocence of the Zambian of yesteryear has grossly been defiled by dullards like Sishua who now see tribe first in everything
Sishua, are you not aware that your posts does not solve anything but only inflames feelings of hatred amongst Zambians.Resposible patriots would rather raise such issues in private than public displays destructive intellectualism,I beg you not to lead the children (uneducated) astray. You are like that fool who destroyed Christmas by telling children that Father Christmas does not exist
Characterising Regions for sole purpose of stingy criticisms. Previously before UPND formed government a region was basically a province now thanks to Shishuwa Western, North Western, Southern , Lusaka , Copperbelt and Central are one Region. Northern , Muchinga, Eastern and Luapula are also being characterised as a single region. Arising from this it therefore follows that five of Zambias seven Presidents all hailed from one region. With this new classification Shishuwa will in the long term hurt this Country. He is deliberately creating a new mindset of Regionalism chiseled in hatred, suspicion and utter tribalism. Thus according to Shishuwa it should have been Tribalism and Regionalism when ECL took over from Sata , Chiluba taking over from Kaunda and Sata taking over from Rupiah Banda. Just what country is Shishuwa trying to create? And importantly to what length is he willing to stretch this country in his crusade and division.
I’m not conversant with the law that brought the Electoral Commission of Zambia into being. I honestly find it awkward to discuss the departure of Ali Simwinga because he may have chosen to leave at the expiry of his contract. Does Sishuwa Sishuwa know better? And the departure of Ali Simwinga means that there’s a vacancy to be filled. Does Sishuwa Sishuwa know who will replace him? Like compnay board members in the private sector, most public officers serving on contract often indicate if they’re still available for re-appointment. This gives the employer time to find a suitable candidate to replace them if they indicate unavailability for re-appointment.
Mr. Sishuwa, how many regions does zambia have? Please also name those regions.
Us who live in Zambia know better than you how all these people you are mentioning were performing at ECZ. People like Esau Chulu should not even be mentioned because they know what they were doing for UPND. Which sane president can keep a person like Esau Chulu at ECZ? Ali Simwinga came from Local Government, he was at KCC where he held several Council positions including that of a Mayor. So even when he went or came to ECZ, the gentleman was already old if not very old, unless you wanted him to work for life. No wonder his contract was not renewed, let him rest and enjoy retirement money before he departs from Mother Earth.
The three you mentioned are not and will not be the first and last to have their contracts not renewed because renewing or not renewing someone’s contract is normal practice which happens on yearly basis in any organization or department. Moreover most of these appointments are subject to ratification by Parliament and other Stake Holders. So the President is not even the final say, the names of the people he appoints are simply recommended to him. Even you Sishuwa, if one day you will recommend for some position and your name submitted to the President, to your surprise, you will be appointed. Some people just get tired or lose interest to continue working due various reasons and they decide to quit, si it’s not the president’s duty to persuade them to stay on. The Chris Akufuna, Pricilla’s Isaacs left on their own and that was their decision, and their decision had nothing to do with Lungu. This perpetual criticism of the government will not take you anywhere, you are just politically destroying yourself as a future.
Sishuwa has become a laughing stock with his BS, Mr I Know It All
Mr Sishuwa, when did you become a CHIKALA
