OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT

Dear President
Hakainde Hichilema,

As a  concerned citizen I’m writing to urge you to refrain from using the courts as a battleground for political wars. The judiciary is a vital institution that must remain impartial and independent at all costs.

Let’s protect the judiciary’s integrity and the role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice is paramount.

When politics enters the courtroom, it undermines the public’s trust in the institution and jeopardizes its ability to deliver fair verdicts.

It’s crucial to maintain the separation of powers and prevent the judiciary from becoming a tool for political manipulation.

The consequences of using the courts to settle political scores can have far-reaching consequences, such as erosion of public trust when the judiciary is perceived as politicized, citizens lose faith in the system.

Selective justice and politicizing the courts may apply the law unevenly, favoring certain individuals or groups, instability and polarisation Court decisions become tainted by political bias and escalets social divisions.

Instead of resorting to courtroom battles, I implore you to engage in constructive dialogu and foster open communication with opponents to find common ground. Like what Mr. Sata and Mr. Mwanawasa did may their soul rest in eternal peace, for their exceptional leadership style which will stand a test of time in our country’s  democracy.

Support legislative reforms to work with lawmakers to address grievances through the legislative process. Promote national unity and focus on initiatives that bring citizens together, rather than dividing the country apart, bearing in mind that political power is limited.

By safeguarding the judiciary’s independence, you’ll strengthen Zambia’s democratic foundations and ensure that justice is served impartially.

Unless you are saying that your intention of assuming that public office is to deal with potential political opponents rather than to ameliorate and provide leadership to the challenges we are facing as a country which is the role of each and every government. I submit

Sincerely,
Abraham Simpamba
Together We Can

  1. If it’s true that three affected Judges didn’t do their jobs properly because they favoured the then ECL as president, then even the current Judges appointed by HH will do the same so our legal system is not independent. This is a major hindrance to democracy. Something has to be done about it…

  2. Abraham Simpamba too much falsehood and inaccuracies in your twining of Levy Mwanawasa with Michael Sata in terms of good leadership. You are lying sir, only Levy Mwanawasa provided good leadership even though you PF idiots didn’t want Levy Mwanawasa even.in his death. Your Michael Sata’s uncoordinated and irresponsible leadership was the beginning of the current economic mayhem Zambia is is experiencing now. It is your Michael Sata who started borrowing irresponsibly and further worsened by Chawama Product Edgar Lungu. Stop being a PF liar iwe.

  3. Bwana, understand the structure of government and the separate arms of government.
Also understand the law. Read the constitution, as it prescribes the removal of judges and Magistrates. Understand the role of the JCC.
    1. A compliant was made about the Judges. We dont know what the exact compliant was but it was made to the JCC.
    2. In following the law, the JCC looked at the evidence provided to it and made a decision to SUSPENd the Judges. Per the law pending hearing their defence. Even in any institution you get suspended before a disciplinary hearing.
    3. A hearing for the judges was scheduled. But before that was done. Mingalato entered.

How then can we be objective in ensuring that issues are resolved?
What is Lungu’s interest if the Judges were impartical to begin with?
Why are the Judges seeking a stay, if they acted within the law?
What is Sangwa’s interest, given that the exact basis of the suspension is unknown and due to privacy laws the hearing will be held in camera.
There is a lot of speculation and in the midstof this all. Waters are being muddied by certain quarters to confuse the intent government just so that issues are delayed.
Its important that you understand the facts thus far. Separate what is and what certain indivduals want you to see.
The past few weeks we were consumed again by individual swaying what HH said about the law and what they want you to understand. A very common trait we have seen Donald J Trump employing.
Indivduals are now facing court cases in this regard for Sedition. Seeking to spread false narratives to undermine the current regime.
Critical thinking is cardinal as it helps distinguish issues objectively.
