SO, BY IMPLICATIONS BOWMAN LUSAMBO IS SAYING EVEN KK’S COMRADES WERE IDIOTS FOR NOT STEALING DURING THE TIME THEY SERVED AS MINISTERS
By Friday Kashiwa

The only opportunity Panji and his brothers had was that their father was in employment as a republican President and therefore from his income as Head of State KK managed to send them to school, just like any other avarage Zambian Child’s entitlement to education. They later on used that education to earn a living through employment according to their respective fields.

First cabinet Zambia independence 1964

The only opportunity the Ministers in the Kaunda Government had was that they were employed or appointed to Government positions and were able to earn a living, just like any other avarage Zambian worker.
After change of Admnistration, these galant freedom fighters graciously retired to their normal and modest life and living, with the little they had earned to barely see them through.

In other words, there were NO other hidden opportunities the Children to KK or his Ministers could have missed out on for them to be called Idiots, as insinuated by Bowman Lusambo.

During KK’s presidency, his Ministers and other Government officials were subjected to and had to abide and adhere to a well defined Leadership Code of Conduct.

Adherance to this Leadership code of conduct was non negotiable and non academic, as any slight deviation or non compliance resulted in INSTANT dismissal.

Today we should be celebrating this impeccable and distinguished leadership style, characterized with genuine financial and personal discipline, AND this will ever be part of his history and it still remains as KK’s outstanding credentials and legacy, both locally and internationally.

This is the same financial and personal discipline that was practiced by, inculcated in and followed by KK’s Children as well as his former Ministers – the discipline of living within their past and present means of life. Period.

If this type of upbringing and background of KK’s children and former Ministers qualifies to be ridiculed and classified as IDIOCY, then most us wouldn’t mind to join this rank and file as Distinguished and Disciplined IDIOTS, as opposed to being labeled as CORRUPT and potential JAIL Candidates.

As for the old man KK, he still remains our hero and deserves all the home grown respect from ALL Zambians, the ruling PF Leadership inclusive.

Zambian Woman Brutally Beaten By Fiance Who Later Committed Suicide In Germany

ZAMBIAN WOMAN BRUTALLY BEATEN BY FIANCE WHO LATER COMMITTED SUICIDE IN GERMANY 🇩🇪

Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita reported that a Zambian woman has been brutally beaten in German.

Mukwita has expressed grave sadness at the brutal beating of 39 year-old German-based Zambian Musician Cassy Nyemba by her 60-year-old fiancé who has since died after he allegedly jumped from the 13th floor of an apartment building in which the couple lived.

Ambassador Mukwita said the violent attack against a defenseless woman has left him shell-shocked as gory details of how Nyemba escaped her attacker’s attempt to strangle her to death in her sleep around 9hrs on Monday morning emerged.

Reports under police investigation indicate that Nyemba’s fiancé initially used a rope and tied it around her neck and began to violently squeeze it with the apparent aim to kill her. He then used a pillow to suffocate her but failing, he attempted to reach for a knife which gave Nyemba a slight chance at escaping. The balcony was the only available option.

Eyewitness accounts report that Nyemba jumped from the second floor or 9 meters down and lay motionless on the ground as neighbors called for an ambulance. As the medics were attending to her, a man, later identified as Nyemba’s fiance, fell down from the 13th floor of the apartment building and died instantly.

Local media reports that did not name Nyemba or her fiance’ indicate that the man apparently took his own life believing that he had caused her death, first secretary press at the Zambian mission in Berlin, Kellys Kaunda, has stated.

It is not yet known what could have triggered the entire tragic episode. Police are investigating the matter and have since called on anyone with any information that could assist with investigations to step forward.

After medical examination, it was revealed that Nyemba is three months pregnant, has had three of her ribs broken, sustained serious damage to the spinal code, lost some fingers, and suffered serious injuries around her waist. Further medical tests are scheduled Monday next week. Indications are that Nyemba’s recovery is likely to be long requiring assistance from family and friends.

Ambassador Mukwita said such a brutal attack on a woman happening in one of the most developed parts of the world is totally unacceptable.

He has called on the German government to do more to protect women beyond the efforts of law enforcement officials.

“Yes we appreciate the role of law enforcement but it is too late because the damage has already been inflicted,” Ambassador Mukwita said.

He added, “more intervention at public awareness, policy or legislative levels needs to be done to prevent such forms of brutality from happening”.

Hardly a month ago, another Zambian woman died but was quickly cremated without the presence of her relatives, a development that did not go down well among some friends and family members.

“As an envoy responsible for the wellbeing and welfare of Zambians here in Germany and six other countries of extra accreditation, I get concerned and deeply worried when I hear of harrowing and near-death experiences especially of women who are more vulnerable than their male counterparts,” said Ambassador Mukwita.

The Zambian senior diplomat observed that at a time when the world has made significant achievements in securing the fundamental rights of women, it is heartbreaking to hear of stories that suggest that more work beyond policing and mere accession to international human rights instruments needs to be done extending into local communities.

Zimbabwean minister Fortune Chasi fired over US$150 000 bribery allegations

0

President Mnangagwa showed Chasi the door just over a year after replacing Joram Gumbo in a cabinet reshuffle.

Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said
Chasi had been fired for “conduct of government business (that) had
become incompatible with the President’s expectations.”

Mnangagwa accuse Chasi of taking a bribe of US$150,000 through his wife from businessman Farai Jere who hoped the bribe would win him favour in deals involving the ministry.

” Jere has been paying bribes to senior staffers in the ministry to ensure this deals go through. He is alleged to have paid Josh Chifamba the former CEO of ZESA, Minister Joram Gumbo and went on to bribe the new Energy Minister Chasi”, a source said.

“At one moment he was heard complaining that Chasi’s wife is putting him under pressure to pay the US$150 000 that he had promised to pay Minister Fortune Chasi and he ended up paying US$50 000 and promised to pay the balance later. He was complaining that he doesn’t see the role of
Minister Chasi because he is not operational. Chasi pushed for the Mutare peaking plant to be approved by Cabinet and was only stopped by president Mnangagwa after the then Interim ZESA Board chair economist Professor Ashok Chakravati raised a red flag”, the source added.

Chasi’s exit is believed to be linked to his recent bruising battle with ZESA’s executive chairman Sydney Gata who has been married to Mnangagwa’s niece, Angie Mayahle, since 2014.

Late last month, the Mazowe South MP suspended Gata over corruption allegations, but Gata hit back accusing him of abusing his power and calling him an “impediment to my efforts… to uprooting corruption at ZESA”. Gata also dismissed Chasi’s directive to other board members to investigate him, stating that “the directive is contrary to the law and cannot be acted upon.”

Gata also told Chasi that he was seeking to activate the mediation role of the Office of the President and Cabinet “without delay.”

Mnangagwa subsequently suspended the entire board at the power utility while ordering an investigation into the allegations of wrong-doing. It was not clear on Friday if the “mediation” led to Chasi’s dismissal.

Gata has two children with Angie, described by some as Mnangagwa’s “most-loved niece.” She has reportedly invested in several solar projects, backed by Mnangagwa, with the aim of selling power back to ZESA.

“Don’t you know that when Sydney Gata divorced Regina Ntombana Mugabe (half-sister to the late former president Robert Mugabe) he married his long-time girlfriend, Angeline Mayahle, from his home area of Chipinge?” the source asked. “The elder sister to Angeline, Moline Mayahle, has three children with Emmerson Mnangagwa. This is how Gata got the controversial appointment in the first place… they are literally joined at the hip,” the source added.

Mutati Faction Members Involved In Counter Arguments Over Assertions They Have Bought Late Mulongoti’s Party

0

By Patson Chilemba

Felix Mutati’s faction members in MMD are involved in counter arguments that the faction has bought late Mike Mulongoti’s People’s Party, following the challenges faced with the Registrar of Societies to register their own new party.

Well placed sources in the Mutati faction have told Daily Revelation, that they bought Mulongoti’s PP party and applied for its name to be changed to People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The sources said that was also facing its own challenges as the Registrar of Societies had been instructed not to consider registering any political party linked to the former finance minister, fearing he would take his members to opposition alliances.

The sources said their attempts to have their political organisation registered as Movement for Democratic Change ((MDC) had hit a snag with the Registrar of Societies, hence the decision to ride on the late Mulongoti’s party, which was also facing it’s own challenges with the government.

“We actually bought that one (Mulongoti’s party). Mr Mutati is involved with the new formation. Ask Mr. Christopher Banda (former MMD national treasurer in the Mutati faction) and Mr Moyo, they have been involved in the negotiations,” the sources said. “We changed the name People’s Party to People’s Democratic Party. We want Mutati to head this party.”

Attempts to get a comment from Mutati failed as his phone went unanswered, but his aide Edmond Miri said PDP was not the vehicle his boss was using, but they would be able to announce within a week which direction they will take.

“I think that one is very easy you can even just go to Registrar of Societies, you will find that it’s still in its original name. Yah that’s also false. That one I can actually give you the opportunity to say just go to Registrar of Society you go and find out if there is any political party by the name of PDP you will not find it,” Miti said. “You find out there is Mulongoti’s political party, which is People’s Party you will find it. You look at the office bearers it’s the original office bearers that are there. So that particular one is also false.”

Asked if they were working with late Mulongoti’s officials to try to come up with something still, Miti said: “I think in a political dispensation people sit down to discuss issues but that doesn’t mean we are talking about purchasing a political party or anything, no. That isn’t the case. There is literally nothing.”

Asked if Mutati was planning in getting into a pact with Harry Kalaba and Kelvin Bwalya Fube (KBF), Miti said there was no pact for now, saying what was there was people consulting each other on certain things.

Banda on his part said he was still part of MMD.
“We haven’t officially joined another political party. There are no discussions to join another political party. Who told you am part of it?,” said Banda. “Anyway we are not yet part of that party because we will pronounce our moving from MMD to whatever. In fact I am talking not for anyone but for myself as former national treasurer and a member of the MMD.”

PS FAILS TO CONFIRM OR DENY INVOLVEMENT OF CHILDREN IN NRC EXERCISE

0

By Staff Reporters

Public Service Management Division (PSMD) permanent secretary Bornface Chimbwali has failed to either confirm or deny the selection of two of his children in the National Registration Exercise currently underway around the country.

And Luapula Province deputy permanent secretary Royd Chakaba denied knowledge of being related with a person named Irene, who was participating in the NRC exercise in Mansa.

Sources have told Daily Revelation that relatives connected to government leaders in Luapula Province, and across the country have been selected in the NRC exercise, after the Ministry of Home Affairs largely left the provincial government administrations to choose the people who were going to participate in the exercise.

When contacted by Daily Revelation on reports that his children had been included in the exercise, PSMD permanently secretary Chimbwali asked Daily Revelation to tell him the difference between the PSMD and the Department for National Registration, Passport and Citizenship (DNRPC).

When told that what this media organisation was following up on was for him to state whether his children were involved and not the difference between PSMD and NRC, Chimbwali said: “First of all go to the people that are recruiting for NRCs then when you hit a blank you can come back.”

“But is it true, since they are your children l’m sure they live in your house and all that stuff. So I’m sure this is information you must be..” Daily Revelation asked, with Chimbwali responding: “They don’t even live with me.”

But reminded that they were still his children, whether they lived with him or not, and must know whether they were involved or not, Chimbwali referred this journalist to DNRPC as they were the ones who were handling the selection processes.

“Me I’m giving you a lead, I said go to NRC. They are the people that are recruiting. Ask them do you know so, so so? How did you recruit them? Can I ask you a question, do you have any relative working in government? Chimbwali asked.

Chimbwali was asked if he was using that question to justify the inclusion of his children, before the line cut abruptly.

And Chakaba denied having any relations with a lady named Irene, who is involved in the exercise in Mansa.

“I am not aware…maybe she might have applied as well. There is no connection,” Chakaba said. “No, no, no I only have one wife. I only have one legal wife.”

He said if she had been included, it could have been through her own initiative of applying.

Asked on assertions that a lot of relatives connected to government officials had been included in the exercise, Chakaba said he was not aware as that was a confidential issue handled by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“They just did their own independent applications without any interference,” said Chakaba. “So you want to run that story?”

A lady who said she was Mrs Chakaba when asked by Daily Revelation, said she was participating in the exercise in Mansa, but could not speak on how the process was going.

Daily Revelation had called to inquire more on how the exercise was going in the area and if she could speak on the matter, but Mrs Chakaba said the only one who could handle the issue was the public relations officer, who was not present at the time.

Zambians countrywide are being issued with new registration cards, which is the first exercise before the issuance of voters cards. Therefore the two exercises are intertwined. -Daily Revelation

Mnangagwa Signs New Coroner Law That Will See Doctors Go To Jail For Sudden Deaths In Their Hands

0

HEADS of hospitals, police stations and prisons now face a five-year jail term if found guilty of destroying or tampering with vital evidence on the death of a person under their custody.

They will also be criminally liable for the death of a person under their custody should it be established that they were reckless or negligent.

The development comes as Government seeks to safeguard the sanctity of life from reckless or negligent institutions or persons.

Over the years, the High Court has been inundated with lawsuits against medical practitioners who negligently cause the death of patients.

In the past, there have been suspected cover-ups of such deaths by people in various positions of authority.

The new measures are contained in the Coroner’s Office Act, which was recently signed into law by President Mnangagwa after it sailed through Parliament.

“The following law, which has been assented to by His Excellency the President, is published in terms of section 131(6) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe — Coroner’s Office Act [Chapter 7:21] (No. 12, 2019),” reads a notice published by Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda

On the liability of health practitioners and law enforcement agencies, Clause Four of the Act reads:

“Subject to this Act, the functions of the Office shall be — (a) to provide independent and impartial investigations into the circumstances surrounding — (i) any unnatural deaths, including but not limited to homicides, infanticides, drownings, suicides, accidents; or (ii) any deaths occurring within 24 hours of admission into a health institution, or during a surgical operation, or while a person is in or is being escorted to a police cell, prison, health institution or other place of custody.” The Act establishes the Coroner-General’s Office, to investigate unnatural deaths that occur in health institutions, police cells, prisons and any other places through suspected unnatural means.

The Coroner-General’s Office will now replace a magistrate, who in the past used to conduct an inquest into deaths through suspected unusual circumstances.

In terms of the Act, officers-in-charge of prisons, police stations or medical institutions must keep records regarding such sudden deaths for proper investigations by the Coroner.

Failure to keep the necessary records or tampering with the information, will see those in charge of the institutions being jailed for a period of up to five years, according to the Act.

The same law criminalises refusal by medical practitioners to carry out post-mortems as directed by the Coroner, an offence that attracts six months’ incarceration.

Clause 7 of the Act states that custodial officers must keep medical records or any other relevant documents of the deceased for at least five years to allow investigations to flow unhindered.

The clause reads: “Where a person dies, while in any health institution for medical treatment or care or while he or she is in a place of custody, the custodial officer shall preserve all medical records, healthcare records and any other documents pertaining to the medical treatment or care or the custody of the deceased as are in his or her possession for a period as may be prescribed but in any event for not less than five years.

“A custodial officer commits an offence if he or she wilfully or recklessly destroys or fails to preserve medical and health care or custody records in terms of subsection (1) and shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Level 10 or to imprisonment for five years or both.”

The Act also sets out the appointment, functions and powers of the Coroner-General, the Deputy Coroner-General and the Coroners in relation to post-mortems, inquests and their findings. Holding careless doctors accountable for their actions comes amid an outcry over some surgeons whose negligence has led to the death of patients.

The office is expected to impartially carry out post-mortems, when necessary, and come up with forensic reports for use in court.

KBF Is Like A Foolish Poacher Who Thought He Was Nurturing A Sheep Out Of A Wolf – Sikaile Sikaile

KBF IS LIKE A FOOLISH POACHER WHO THOUGHT HE WAS NURTURING A SHEEP OUT OF A WOLF

There appears to be increasing panic by Kelvin Fube Bwalya, commonly known as KBF to become a President of Zambia by any means as he enters into a pact with Kalaba and Mutati.

If anything, KBF wants to create a group of spoilers for 2021 elections. This is a lack of patriotism to the nation and the reason why God is punishing KBF.

Some people easily forget that God puts them in certain positions to install sanity and save humanity. We should all understand that if you have a chance to sit in an influential office, use it wisely to leave a legacy that will make people appreciate you in the long run. Legacy that would have created positive change for humanity.

The case of KBF, shows how selfish some people in our politics are. The man deceived himself by thinking Edgar Lungu would be an easy ladder for him to climb on.

To me, he is like a foolish poacher who went hunting and found a baby lion (cub). The foolish poacher decided to get the cub so that he feeds it until it grows big.
When a wise neighbour sensed danger, he asked the poacher, ”baba what is this you are keeping in your yard?” The foolish poacher answered, ”I’m raising a dog out of a baby lion that I got from the bush”. The neighbour warned him on how much a danger the whole project was to the entire community but the poacher didn’t listen.

After some years, the cub turned into a big and aggressive lion and began to threaten the life of its keeper.

The poacher thought the baby lion would turn into a humble dog, but how mistaken he was.

This story best matches KBF who knew very well that Mr. Edgar Lungu can’t make a good leader. Most people who have no leadership in them turn to be very violent and corrupt. This is a self defensive mechanism and a complex. This is what we see today in PF under Edgar Lungu government all imposed on us by KBF and his friends at ECZ.

If KBF feels like he is a man enough, let him create his own political party, then go out to mobilize. He will then realize that the hell he created is functioning and it will be his final resting place in Zambia politics.

When KBF claims he has a vision of helping Zambia and turn to fight HH, does he really understand his vision? Or maybe, he is aspiring to become another HH?

HH is fighting to many battles, he needs God’s intervention, even his own fellow colleagues from the opposition parties wouldn’t want him to win the election at all cost, one does not need some spiritual powers to read between the lines.

This country must be careful and serious with national issues. There’s no way that criminals who have done so much harm today, return in a different cloth and claim to be our messiah today. Kelvin Fube Bwalya, owes the nation an apology . What role did he ( KBF) play in the 2016 flawed elections? We warned him several times not to aid the rigging but thank God he is now dancing to his own dirty works.

The man endangered the lives of Zambians when he woke up the judges at midnight to illegally IMPOSE dictatorship.

As a concerned citizen, I would like to state that KBF may be more dangerous than Mr Lungu. And he should not be let anywhere near the presidency of this country.

Today, we are crying about a rotten judiciary, it is because of people like KBF who went in the middle of the night to threaten judges to sign papers to validate Lungu’s questionable nomination as PF presidential candidate in 2015.

When Dr Guy Scott tried to speak out, these same people who are now crying foul insulted, vilified and called him all sorts of names to an extent of issuing racial remarks.

I regret associating with Lungu’s PF – Akafumba

0

I REGRET having been associated with the PF of Mr Chagwa Lungu, says NDC vice-president Josephs Akafumba.

He says while enjoyed his stay in the PF under Michael Sata, the current one is full of gatecrashers who even when the doors were closed into the party they used air vents to sneak in.

Akafumba says PF is Zambia’s worst nightmare and urges teachers, council workers and police officers not to allow the ruling party rig the 2021 general elections.

“I regret having been associated with the other PF of Mr Chagwa Lungu. I did enjoy my stay in the PF under Michael Sata and would have never left had he been still alive. The PF you know is not what we did under Sir Michael, the current one is full of gatecrashers who even when the doors were closed into the party they used air vents to sneak in. We have people who insulted Sata and never apologised now controlling the founding members,” he said. “The new PF under Mr Lungu is Zambia’s worst nightmare and if we allow them, God forbid, to win next year it will be a crisis.”

Akafumba said officers mainly in the police, council and teachers who will manage the 2021 elections should be on alert against PF rigging tactics.

“We saw a foreigner gain access into an ECZ (Electoral Commission of Zambia) secure place to rig the elections in favour of Mr Lungu. This man is now a ghost and we don’t know how much President Lungu paid the man. I can only assume that that man is still enjoying his money somewhere in the Bahamas while Zambians wallow in poverty,” he said. “So I appeal to all police officers, council officers and teachers to be alert and not allow the PF rig the elections.”

Akafumba said the levels of corruption in the PF government were unimaginable.

“I can tell you that had the big man (Sata) been alive we would have been a haven on Earth. We would have seen massive transformations and all would be smiling not as it is now. The policemen and women are not as happy as they should be – the law has been made to side with the PF and what is happening in courts against the PF members is just a theatrical performance to make us believe that the man on top (President Edgar Lungu) hates corruption when not,” said Akafumba. “The question is how has the PF failed to hand over their senior member who beat police officers at a police station? We have a lot of unanswered questions by the PF. However, I want to believe that 2021 will be a year of change and I appeal to all youths to register as voters by ensuring that they obtain NRC’s. The NDC means well and Chishimba Kambwili will ensure that this country gets back on the right track economically, politically, socially, and will ensure that the rule of law prevails and the media operates as much freely as possible.”

Former pupils return to Kabundi High School 21 years later, construct guard room

Former pupils return to Kabundi High School 21 years later, construct guard room

A GROUP of former pupils today handed over a guard room to the authorities at Kabundi High School, the first such security facility at the learning institution’s 45-year history .

According to a statement issued by former pupil and group member Chiwoyu Sinyangwe, the newly-constructed guard room was handed over to the School authorities by the Grade 12 Blue Class of 1999.

A representative of the ex-pupils, Boyd Chanda, said there was need for schools in the country to leverage support of its former pupils to help deal with some challenges being faced.

“As former pupils of Kabundi, we strongly believe that our love for our school cannot be fully expressed if we don’t prioritise its security, and hence our decision to construct this guard room to ensure our men and women responsible for our former school’s security operate in a secure and humane environment,” Chanda said.

Chanda said strong linkages between various schools and their ex-pupils can help bolster already existing community support to schools that is often anchored through the Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

“This occasion today clearly demonstrates that a symbiotic relationship between a school and its former pupils can work wonders if properly harnessed. I strongly believe that this relationship carries more potency to deliver value to any school…of course this is not to negate the decades old PTA arrangement,” he said.

Chanda also urged other former pupils to give back to their former schools as part of their social responsibilities as citizens and also to inspire the next generation of leaders.

“We can’t pay back to our former schools or former teachers for what we are today but we firmly believe that we can only become better human citizens if our birthplace is getting better and I hope this initiative will inspire resilience, hard work and a sense of patriotism among the current crop of pupils to ensure a secured future for our school,” said Chanda.

And School Head Teacher, Ackim Kaunda, thanked the former pupils for successfully completing the project which he said would enhance security at the School.

“It is not easy – not many people have their heart for the former schools but you are here to supplement our efforts; please keep it up,” Kaunda said.

Kabundi High Schol, one of the oldest High Schools in the Copper-rich Chingola opened in 1974 has been an integral part of the town’s education backbone, churning out a number of pupils who have gone to occupy key positions in society.

Kasama man “kills wife with rough sex” after taking Mutototo

Kasama man “kills wife with rough sex” after taking Mutototo
THE Kasama High Court has heard how a woman allegedly died after a “rough” sexual encounter with her husband who had taken a local herbal enhancer called mtototo.

This is in a case Eric Katinala, 34, is charged with the murder of his wife, Martha Ndakala.
However, Katinala narrated before Ndola High Court judge-in-charge Emelia Sunkutu, who was sitting in Kasama, how his wife allegedly died after the sexual encounter.

Opening his defence in the matter, Katinala told the court that on October 18, 2018, he returned from Mansa where he was working as an automobile panel beater and spray painter for four months.

Katinala said this was after he was given a one-week break by his employer to move his wife and child from Kasama to Mansa.
According to Daily Mail, he said after spending a day at home, they both decided to go for a drink at a place called Esco.
As they were taking Eagle lager, a businessman who was selling traditional herbal medicines known as Congo Dust and Mtototo approached them.

“I then bought the herbal medicine called Mtototo. After that, we went home and while my wife was preparing supper, I took the herb,” he said.
Katinala said around 20:00 hours, the two started making love.
“During the sexual encounter, we would hit ourselves against the wall and the floor while changing positions,” he said.
Katinala said after some time, his wife told him that she was tired and asked him to give her water to drink and pour some on her body.

He said after taking water, they continued with the sexual encounter and in the process, his wife hit the back of her head against the wall.
“That is how we slept. Around 05:00 hours the following day, I tried to wake up my wife but she told me that she was feeling dizzy,” Katinala said.

At this point, Katinala went to make a fire so that he could prepare food for her.
Katinala said while making a fire, his brother-in-law visited and they had a chat.
After his brother-in-law left, he heard a child crying inside the house and when he went to check, he found his wife unconscious.

“I then went to my in-law’s place so that we could take her to the hospital. We later took her to Kasama General Hospital,” Katinala said.
He told the court that at the hospital, a doctor informed him that his wife had died and he was advised to report the matter to police.

When asked why he did not tell his wife’s relatives about what had caused her death, Katinala said it was difficult to explain exactly what had transpired.
He said traditionally, it is considered taboo to explain bedroom matters to in-laws but had instead confided in his parents.
Meanwhile, a forensic pathologist’s report showed that there was a blood collection in the head of Katila’s wife and she had neck injuries.

Katinala, however, said the neck injuries could have been a result of the different positions they took during the sexual encounter.
And when asked by the State if the sexual encounter was violent, Katinala said it was not violent but “unique”.

I’ve forgiven Mumbi, Kaizer Zulu …But I have not forgotten about the hell I went through in prison – Mwaliteta

I’ve forgiven Mumbi, Kaizer Zulu

…But I have not forgotten about the hell I went through in prison
By Staff Reporter

United Party for National Development(UPND) Lusaka Province Chairperson Obvious Mwaliteta has forgiven Former President Edgar Lungu’s Political adviser Kaizer Zulu and PF Deputy Secretary General Mumbi Phiri for allegedly influencing his arrest that culminated into a year long imprisonment.

And Mwaliteta has dispelled talks that the PF has no formidable opposition.

Speaking in an interview with Kwacha, Mr. Mwaliteta said while it is difficult to forget the traumatizing event that characterized his life in jail shortly after the 2016 General Election, he has found it in his heart to forgive his perceived tormentors.

During the voting of the 2016 elections, Mr. Mwaliteta, in a company of UPND cadres intercepted a truck, allegedly carrying pre-marked ballot papers but things soured when they were cornered by the Zambia Police Service who later charged them with aggravated robbery offence.

That arrest was purportedly engineered by Mrs Phiri and Mr Zulu who were heavily involved during the capture.
Mwaliteta and others spent a year in Chimbokaila Prison until they were vindicated through absolute acquittal.

The Former Kafue Lawmaker sued the State for malicious prosecution and won the case. The State appealed against the case, though the appeal was not within the stipulated time of two weeks.

Mwaliteta said he holds no grudge against Zulu and Mumbi following their alleged involved in his brutal arrest.
“Those are my colleagues and I have forgiven them. Actually, those are mistakes we make in life…when you are in power, you tend to look at other people to be powerless. Kaizer Zulu is my colleague and Mumbi Phiri is my colleague,” he assured.

Mr Mwaliteta said going to jail for the flamed up charges was sacrifice he had to make for a better Zambia.
“For us to struggle to fight for a better Zambia, we need people to sacrifice and I am one of them. I am a symbol of sacrifice for better Zambia because I passed through hell but I can’t go back, I have to look forward so that maybe, my children will find a dollar at single digit because we found a dollar at single digit with late President Sata. Are we not ashamed that the dollar is K18? Even the World Bank has left to deal on its own, no one is controlling it, it is free falling. So, we will continue to sacrifice for a better Zambia,” Mr Mwaliteta said.

And Mwaliteta said had he not been a principled opposition leader, he could have rejoined the PF when President Lungu visited him twice when he was in prison.
“Do you know what it is to be in prison for one year and the President comes there to talk to you? You can beg him to give you freedom. I have nothing against President Lungu but I don’t believe in what they do hence remained there(Chimbokaila) to wait to be vindicated,” he said.

And the former Minister said Zambia has a formidable opposition in the UPND, allaying talks that the ruling PF has no competitor ahead of the 2021 elections.

“They are saying that there is no opposition in Zambia because the opposition which is in Zambia is a clean opposition. There is no mafia opposition in Zambia. We are not mafias but a clean opposition aligned to innocent Zambians. That is why they can’t see us. A thief can steal without knowing whether the owner is there or not but we are here and we just want to tell them that things are bad, people are crying. It is them who should open their eyes. They have eight Months to go, so let them do something. Can they try to do things that will help the Zambian people. The food basket is K5, 000. Go with a K1 000 to Shoprite, you will not fill up a trolley. Look at the salaries of civil servants…,” he said.
Mr Mwaliteta regretted that the system has collapsed in Zambia.
“Hakainde Hichilema is the only medicine to the problems the people of Zambia are going through,” he said.

The Shut Down Of The Evelyn Hone Startup Winery Is Nothing But An Exhibition Of How Systemic Racism In Zambia Works Today

THE SHUT DOWN OF THE EVELYN HONE STARTUP WINERY IS NOTHING BUT AN EXHIBITION OF HOW SYSTEMIC RACISM IN ZAMBIA WORKS TODAY

[by Munyumba Mutwale]

To Quote 2004 lucid version of Kanye West:
🎵🎤”Racism Still Alive They Just Be Concealing It”🎵
Now let me show you how.
CLEVERLY disguised as Consumer protection, Business regulations, especially in food processing, have actually served as the best tool of systematic economic exclusion of young blacks by creating entry point standard above the means and capacity of most young black people. The Regulators are now serving as plantation police to keep the black masses out of the economy to ensure that freedom of blacks is limited to politics and to a large degree does not support the economic freedom of young black Zambians.

Black startups are the only ones that must start in a mostly scaled-down version with cheap tools of production and makeshift space because black access to financial markets is limited and really excluded. The regulations work by creating costs beyond the means of most young black entrepreneurs and to create long processes that burn through starting cash of any young black startup thus crippling the black startup.

The much-publicized shutdown of the Evelyn Hone Winery yesterday, as mundane as it is, is a prime example of how real modern-day systematic racism works in Zambia to ensure the economic exclusion of Black Zambians [especially Young Black Zambians] form key industries especially Young Black Zambians who suffer from Economic insecurity the most. Though regulations are often advertised as public/consumer safety tools for the protection of the consumer, what they are in fact are the latest method of systematically excluding and oppressing black people from attaining economic independence and thus leaving them at the mercy of the state, worldwide and especially in Zambia.

In 2018 survey of Manufacturing companies it was found that, while Whites in Zambian and Asians [Majority Indians] in Zambia jointly only make less than 1% of the national population, they own at least 75% of domestic Manufacturing Companies and at least 88% of the 25 Alcoholic Beverage brewing companies in Zambia thus leaving the 99% to fight for a tiny minority stake in the manufacturing industry of Zambia.

How did we get to a point where less than 1% dominates local industries? It’s not done by accident this has been done methodically by a Tripartite Alliance between Government Regulators, Non-Black Business Owners, and Multinationals and Mostly Non-Black Owned financial institutions who all benefit from the poverty of Black people and mostly the Poverty of Young Black Zambians and are effectively incentivized to keep the young black masses poor, excluded and unemployed.
The first thing you need to remember is that of the population of young Zambians, between the ages of 20 – 40, 92% of them are not employed and are forced to survive on handouts or informal and unstable income for a living. This is in comparison with 40% – 50% of Zambians ages 40 and above are full time employed. So the first blow against the young black Zambian is that of financial exclusions because of mostly unstable income and thusly poor land and homeownership rates Black Zambians for the most part and Young Black Zambians especially cannot access financial facilities especially with the Zambian government crowding them out with their excessive lending. So no income and no access to loans you have a large population of 5 million youths with no ability to accumulate starting capital or loan starting capital.
The only option to ascertain economic freedom is to enter industries with scaled-down, manual versions of production because they cannot afford Factory equipment from China and India which will cost them at least USD5,000 TO USD10,000 just for basic equipment and minimum packing quantities. Now the most extensive method used is Regulations. Regulations such as the Public Safety Act and the Food and Liquor Act which were being used only came into effect in 2011 with less extensive and more loose versions of those acts before. Most of the 88% Indian-owned and white-owned companies in the alcoholic beverage brewing industry were allowed to start their operations under more relaxed terms allowing them to grow their business with less burdensome startup costs. Once they were established they then had the government proceed to set-up regulations to now act as a barrier to entry against the black masses who would be interested in entering. The exclusion is not just the financial costs, with such regulations, the Lusaka City Council, Weights and Measures, and Bureau of Standards will basically slow-walk the process so much that most young entrepreneurs will literally run out of cash flow before they get their approval. Regulators are not there to protect the public, they are there to stop blacks from getting rich by starting small and growing. They force a business to start at the established phase. The reality is the best form of consumer protection is perfect competition and that is done through deregulation.

The system is designed to kill off the blacks [especially Young Blacks] and leave the door only for Rich Whites and Rich Indians who either have family savings from the years of business and access to cheaper capital for them since they are the only ones with the assets to back loans and the long-running business relationships with the banks. For the banks, it keeps credit processing cheap and profitable because they are dealing with a few large clients which require less credit screening for much larger loans.

Why does the business community want to keep young blacks financially excluded, very simple cheap labour? If blacks are fighting for a few jobs and cant start business you end up with what we call a slack labour market where there multiples of job seekers for every vacancy. Any job openly advertised in Zambia receives hundreds of applications giving the employers the power to negotiate salaries down and keep them down threatening employees with an easy replacement should they fight the employer. This system has allowed Indian and White-owned businesses to operate at substantial profit margins while getting the most and even more out of labour.

How does the government benefit from this, the actual benefit in 2 ways? The first is more obvious young unemployed people means an excess supply of political cadres who can do their political bidding at very cheap rates and thus keep them in power. If young people want access to any form for empowerment their only option is the ruling party and thus Cadres system is kept alive. Secondly The government benefits from easy management of voters who don’t question most of the Laws passed. The 1800s Civil rights activist Booker T Washington stated that if you want black people to cautiously and responsibly exercise their voting rights then make them rich and that is because a rich or middle-class voter, votes concerned about the impact of laws and not the intent of laws. They care about tax impacts, regulations, codes, fees and all sorts of Government revenue mechanism. So if you as the government want to increase your power without any questions asked, keep the black masses poor.

Now in order to not make it overtly racist, they try to make sure that, the city council officials that are sent are black, even though the greatest beneficiaries are white and Indians. Secondly, they have kept a few industries for black people, clothing stitching at the market, joinery and wood processing, while keeping blacks out of the major high-profit industries, similar to how they have kept black people at peasant farming [survivng on FISP never getting off it], Kantemba owners, Cab-drivers and bus drivers, Garbage handlers rather than Minners.

All this is successfully done through a string of regulations that make it so expensive and so difficult for black Zambians to start businesses in good industries and making them scraping for very few low paying jobs.
56 years ago you were given political independence, with no intention to ever give you economic independence because everyone knew that a country of middle-class black Zambians would be difficult to control and profit off of.
Systematic racism is not Street names and white oppressors its making sure that systems of laws and regulations are applied to blacks to make it impossible for black Zambians and especially young black Zambians to be anything but slaves and victims living off handouts from the state.

Here is the sad reality, there were some young black kids who saw a nation that wasn’t going to hire them so they innovated with the little they and what did we do … instead of applauding them, we punished them. There was no difference between how these men started and how Max Hyndrieche started Chibuku production in the 1950s. It’s just that in the 1950s white governments didn’t actively work to shut down their entrepreneurs.

Akon says African Americans should move past slavery: ‘You just gotta let it go’

0

Senegalese-American musician, philanthropist and business mogul Akon has urged African Americans to move past slavery and stop blaming the past for “every mishap”, claiming Senegal has moved on from that part of their history. He also encouraged them to move back to Africa where they can have their destinies in their own hands.

The Locked Up singer made those comments during an interview on VladTV when he was asked how Senegal feels about slavery and the involvement of African slave traders in the business. The 47-year-old musician spent most of his childhood in the West African nation.

“In Senegal, we’ve kind of overcome the thought of slavery, we don’t even think about it,” he said. “The only time we think about it, honestly, is when we’re doing tours at Goree Island. Outside of that, people have lived and moved way beyond the slavery concept and idea and mind state.”

According to some historians, the island of Goree was the largest slave-trading center on the African coast from the 15th to the 19th century. It was ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, English and French.

During the course of their discussion, the interviewer reminisced on a trip to the musician’s home country where he said that experience was the first time he “felt Black people just felt comfortable with no type of ‘disease’”, to which the singer chimed in and said he “thinks it’s also the art of letting the past go and moving towards the future.”

He continued: “I think, in the U.S., they have this stigma of just not letting go of the past and blaming the past on every mishap or, you know, disappointment. And I think as long as you hold onto that past, there’s a lot of weight that you carry with you everywhere you go. And It’s hard to move forward and move fast when you got a weight on your back. You just gotta let it go.”

Touching on America paying reparations to atone for its slavery history, Akon said it’s unlikely that will happen as the initiative hasn’t even been taken.

“It’s not like America is going to take the initiative to do it, otherwise they would have did it already,” he said. “You know, Indians got reparations, the Jewish got reparations for the holocaust and it wasn’t even done in America.”

He added: “It’s to the point now where African Americans have to really understand their worth and realize that America was never or intended to ever consult or even make up for any of that. They’re not sorry. They don’t care. It’s obvious.”

The musician then went ahead to encourage African Americans to move back to Africa where they won’t be part of the minority.

“Do you want to stay here and continued to be treated this way? Or just go back home, where you’re not no longer the minority,” he said. “You actually are the majority, and you control your destiny, and your future, and your land.”

The interviewer also spoke on the need for Black people who had issues with how people are treated in the United States to visit Africa, to which Akon replied and said: “They need to. They just need to go … and they’re super Afraid to go” – suggesting it largely has to do with the myths and stereotypes about the continent.

“America did a good job at brainwashing,” he said. “The moment you mention Africa, they start shaking. They don’t even know why. It’s just fear … And the potential [in Africa] there is ridiculous.”

‘Diramba’ spoiled Forest’s party – Lusambo

0

LUSAKA Province minister Bowman Lusambo says Forest Rangers was denied the chance to win the MTN Super League on Sunday due to poor officiating.

Speaking to the Mast Sports, Lusambo compared match referee Milton Mweemba to Jean-Fidele Diramba, the Gabonese referee who infamously officiated the crucial World Cup qualifier between Morocco and Zambia in 1993.

Needing only a point to qualify to the USA 1994 World Cup, Zambia were narrowly beaten 1-0, a loss many local fans have long attributed to Diramba’s questionable decisions.

Lusambo, who is also Kabushi PF member of parliament, said Mweemba acted like Diramba when he failed to give the Fole Malembe boys a penalty in the first half of last weekend’s game when Lameck Silwamba went down in the box.

“My message to Forest Rangers is that they have performed very well. The team of [coach] Tenant Chilumba is a very good team and we want to thank the boys for showing the confidence when they played Napsa Stars and also Zanaco Football Club. You know in football you come out with a win, lose and draw and on this game it was a draw,” he said. “But you remember in 1993 Zambia played a game and there was a referee called Diramba who spoiled the party for Zambia and I can assure you we had a Diramba on Sunday because a penalty that was supposed to be our penalty, the referee couldn’t give us and it was penalty which was in white and black. Any person that can analyse using football expertise, I can assure, they can say the referee erred. The other person who erred was a linesman because he was in the position to tell the referee what happened. It was a penalty. So the referee spoiled our game but our aim is not to argue with match officials.”

Lusambo added that Rangers has the patience to wait for another chance to win the league.

“Our plan was to win the game outright. We don’t win our games like that, we have patience and they showed us. When we were at ZAFFICO, when you plant a pine it will grow in 10-15 years then you harvest: that’s the patience which we have. So when you see us being unfairly treated we know that victory is coming tomorrow,” he said. “The big thing is that the team finished number two. In the actual sense there is no number two. They are both [Nkana and Forest] number one it’s just the goal difference and for us we played the 90 minutes game while Nkana got the points from boardroom. But us we played and thanks to the appeals committee we played football on the pitch and 90 minutes decided who has won the title and congratulations to Nkana.”

Lusambo said Rangers would come back strong next season.

“God knows why Forest came out number two but watch out for the Malembe Boys in the continental next season and of course the league as we are ready for any team. We are ready for any team. Our team is very good. Look at [Webster] Muzaza how he has showed his skills among many other players in the team. We are happy, we are there and I know the team and management at ZAFFICO have moved on from the Zanaco game to the next challenge and we are proud of you and we are moving with our heads high when we are putting on Fole Malembe Malembe replica,” said Lusambo. “Most of the people were trying to figure out why Bowman is supporting Forest Rangers. I just want to tell them I am a Forest boy. I stayed with my father in Chichele, I stayed with my father in Dola Hill. From 1988 I have been staying in that area, I know the place very well that’s why I love Forest Rangers and it’s not a team which you support when you like the way they dress or the way they play football. No, it’s a team which has been on our hearts and not only me [but] a lot of people who passed through Dola Hill.”

PF RAIDS NAPSA FOR CAMPAIGN FINANCING

0

By: Anthony Bwalya (UPND Member)
What you are about to read is the kind of institutional criminality why the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema are intent on reforming NAPSA so that public pensions delivers value for contributors money.

As the 2021 general election dawns, the Patriotic Front (PF) regime are in panic mode and frantically looking for more money, beyond what they have already stolen, to finance their election bribery activities in fake empowerment schemes.
There is already information that ZESCO has been raided for $43m in a so-called “cyber security” contract given to an Israeli company, a contract which is rumoured to have only been worth around $12m.

This is also how ZAMTEL made K4bn worth of loses in 2018 in the same market where Airtel and MTN are making money for their private investors.

The PF says NAPSA has no money to pay pensioners lumpsum payments but they have millions of dollars to plough into shody investment ventures.

PF are now actively raiding parastatals for political money, and NAPSA seems an obvious and easy target.
So here is how: If you raid a public pensions fund for campaign financing, the public will know. So, what do you do? Get one of your friends to sell you one of their worthless assets for an inflated premium and pay for it using public pensions money. Once the cheque comes in, ask your friend to cut you a share of the dirty deal.

This is the money the PF are now throwing around in useless empowerment schemes around the country.
The National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) Board must be dissolved immediately and reconstituted. NAPSA has continued to sabotage the lifetime pensions contributions of ordinary, hardworking Zambians by making incredibly questionable investment decisions on behalf of contributors.

Chrismar Hotel cannot be worth $18m in a shrinking real estate market like ours. No one has money to spend like that, and it raises red flags that the PF regime are now using NAPSA as a money laundering institution to help their friends clean up dirty money, as well as a platform to siphon money from public pensions.

Let NAPSA publish the latest financial and valuation information that justify Chrismar Hotel’s $18m valuation price tag and can they also demonstrate how contributors into NAPSA pensions will benefit from this acquisition.

Lungu, ministers pitting defence forces against citizens – Sikaile

0

SIKAILE Sikaile has observed that President Edgar Lungu and his ministers have been pitting defence forces against the people contrary to the defence Act.

Reacting to home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo’s announcement early that government has procured military vehicles to deal with perceived trouble makers, Sikaile said defence personnel were meant to defend the country, and not an individual politician or political party.

Sikaile, a good governance and human rights activist, praised the defence forces for their loyalty to the country since independence.

“I have often focused my energies on addressing various national challenges like PF corruption, tribalism and Zambia’s human rights and civil liberties abuses to government politicians. But today I will directly address these matters to our men and women in the defence and security forces of our Republic,” Sikaile said in a statement. “The history of Zambia’s defence forces dates back to many years ago in which time they fought both world wars with distinction and excellence. In the 60s, 70s and 80s, Zambia was surrounded by hostile racist regimes, especially to our south, but our defence forces engaged these apartheid forces with courage and honour and contained their incursions into our territory. In all this, the defence forces’ main task was to protect the borders of our country and ensure all citizens were safe from enemy attacks.”

He said for years, defence forces had worked with the people to protect the country.

Sikaile said the PF administration under President Lungu has tried very much to turn the defence forces against its own people.

“This solidarity between our armed forces and the people grew hand in glove over the years and no amount of political affiliations separated this symbiotic relationship between the two parties.

However, since the PF came into power especially the PF of Edgar Lungu, we have seen a growing and troubling tendency where our Armed Forces are pitted against the people,” Sikaile noted. “We have seen efforts by Edgar Lungu to personalise the armed and security forces to do his bidding than stand on the side of the people. There’s an increasing propensity by senior commanders of our forces to align themselves politically at a partisan level against the principles of political neutrality of the defence Act.’’

He charged that the current government has discriminated officers in the defence forces on political lines.

“We have seen close comrades in arms in the defence forces being separated and purged in the so-called ‘retiring in national interest’ by senior commanders at the behest of Edgar Lungu, on account of their ethnic or regional background. Promotions are no longer based on meritocracy but on whom you know up there, and what tribe you come from,” he said.

Sikaile wondered if defence officers were happy that their colleagues were being discriminated against, based on political and ethnic lines.

“Are you very happy that tonnes and tonnes of armaments are being imported in the country in preparation to wage…against your own people from the same townships, villages, cities and towns you hail from, at the instigation of Edgar Lungu’s desire to remain in power? Would you turn your cannons and AK 47 at your own people because politicians have commanded you to?” he asked. “If you can, I ask where your conscience and your professionalism to carry such illegal commands is? When did citizens become your enemies and for what reason?”

Sikaile appealed to the defence forces to uphold the Constitution of the country.

“My appeal to our armed forces; uphold the Constitution of our land, never succumb to the whims of one man, Edgar Lungu or a group of politicians who want to hijack the rule of law in order to illegally entrench themselves in power. Defend the people and defend democracy and hold the human rights and dignity of our citizens with utmost respect,” urged Sikaile. “There’s nothing illegal in disobeying illegal orders. There’s nothing wrong with defending democracy and the rule of law. There’s nothing illegal about being on the side of the people. You are the people’s forces and let your loyalty be to the Constitution than to one man, Edgar Lungu, with a bunch of criminals who have stolen from the wealth of our people. In the 2021 elections, allow the people to choose their own leaders, don’t interfere, remain neutral but be on the side of the Constitution and democracy… As selfish politicians incite you to turn against your fellow citizens think about our children, women and the old aged who cannot defend themselves in an event of any trouble; protect lives than impressing individuals.”

It’s Them Who Were Armed, Kaizar Accuses His Alleged Victims

By Mwaka Ndawa

FORMER special assistant to the President for political affairs Kaizer Zulu and his co-defendant have accused the four Lusaka residents they allegedly assaulted of posing a danger to their lives, claiming the complainants were armed and secretly took pictures of them.

Zulu and Raffiq Rashid who denied allegations of assault and kidnapping admitted being at Chita Lodge on September 17, 2019 as they were having a private and confidential meeting within the vicinity of the secluded part of the lodge and that the complainants were hiding while recording and taking pictures of them.

This is in a matter where Bernard Nshindo, Sengelwayo Jere, Saul Masikoti who are qualified surveyors and businessmen, and Mason Mweemba, a driver, have sued Zulu and his acquaintances Mpange Kachingwe, Rashid, and Bella Mwanza a director of Chita Lodge Limited seeking among other claims damages for assault, false imprisonment and kidnapping, on the pretext that they were photographing his speed boat at Chita Lodge in Kafue.

The four who have also cited Chita Lodge Limited in the matter claim that Zulu accused them of wanting to assassinate him when they allegedly captured his speedboat, adding that he manhandled them whilst firing gunshots in the air and pointed a pistol to their heads and threatened to kill them.

According to their statement of claim, the quartet said while at Chita Lodge in Kafue on September 17, they were approached by Zulu, Kachingwe, Rashid, Mwanza and other acquaintances, who accused them of taking pictures of Zulu’s speedboat.

The complainants contended that they denied taking pictures of Zulu’s boat and offered to delete all their personal pictures that they captured on their phones whilst at Chita Lodge to satisfy the demands of Zulu and his allies.

The four said Zulu, Kachingwe and Rashid who were armed with pistols, lost their cool and immediately began to physically assault Jere, while Masikoti and Mweemba attempted to run out of the recreation centre and a car chase ensued while Zulu, Kachingwe and Rashid fired live ammunition.

They stated that Masikoti and Mweemba could not leave the premises as Mwanza ordered security guards of Chita Lodge to seal all exit points at the establishment which led to their apprehension and unlawful detention.

Kachingwe in his defence denied being an accomplice to assaulting the complainants at Chita Lodge in Kafue claiming he was not at the said premises when the alleged assault occurred.

And in their defence, Zulu and Rashid stated that upon noticing that the quartet were taking pictures of them, they alerted a police officer who was nearby to find out why the plaintiffs were hiding while recording and taking pictures of them without authority.

“In fact the plaintiffs did admit taking unauthorised photographs and agreed to delete the same but the police officer discovered that they were armed with pistols and posing a danger to the lives of the first and third defendants (Zulu and Rashid),” the duo said.

They explained that the complainants attempted to drive off when they were approached by the police officer who fired shots in the air as they attempted to escape from the officer to elude confrontation.

Zulu and Rashid claimed that the plaintiffs were apprehended by police officers and one of the suspects escaped when they reached Kafue Police Station.

“The plaintiffs were apprehended and moved to Lusaka Central Police by the police officers where they were detained,” said Zulu and Rashid. “The plaintiffs do not deserve any of the reliefs sought, at least not from the first and third defendants herein. The defendants deny each and every allegation put forth in the statement of claim.”

PARDON MUKATA AND SELF EXILED CHIFIRE, YALI URGES LUNGU

By Patric Soko

The Young African Leaders Initiative – YALI – has called on President Edgar Lungu to consider extending his prerogative mercy to incarcerated Chilanga lawmaker, Keith Mukata, exiled activist Gregory Chifire, among other imprisoned persons for pardon during the National Day of Prayer and Reconciliation.

In a message to mark the 4 years after the 2016 General Elections, YALI Governance Advisor and Legal Advisor Isaac Mwanza has called on leaders and the general citizenry to reconcile, forgive one another and support Government in developing the nation and conducting peaceful 2021 elections.

“We want to earnestly ask President Lungu to lead efforts in reconciling Zambians as the country prepares for the general election, exactly one year from now,” said Mr. Mwanza.

Mr. Mwanza said although the last 4 years have witnessed hard work from President Lungu’s administration in delivering development, the nation has continued to see divisions with some people harboring pain and hatred against each other.

“What is happening is very unhealthy for a Christian and peace-loving nation. What is sadder is that the clergy who are supposed to be messengers of forgiveness and reconciliation are in the forefront perpetrating divisions among political sides. The President must thus take the responsibility upon his shoulder to do the tasks Bishops and other members of the clergy should have been doing in reconciling the Nation,” he said.

Mr. Mwanza has chastised Zambians in the Diaspora to stop talking ill about their country and Government but offer themselves to help in the healing process than create further divisions.

“The ‘Facebook and Hashtag Revolution’ by our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora, in which they spend countless hours and efforts insulting or disrespecting leaders in Government is not helping to build the country we all love. These energies can better be spent in helping the nation to prepare for 2021 elections and manage the post-election period,” he said.

He said Zambians can only do this noble act when they put political differences, hurt and pains aside and begin working together to firstly, conduct peaceful elections in 2021 and secondly, becoming a resource for developing Zambia.

“In this vein, we kindly implore His Excellency the President to utilise the forthcoming Day of National Prayer in October, 2020 to extend forgiveness by extending the prerogative of mercy in pardoning persons like former Chilanga Member of Parliament Keith Mukata and self-exiled activist Gregory Chifire, both of whom were convicted by the Courts for different offenses. These men and other prisoners whom President Lungu has used his Christian heart to continue pardoning deserve a second chance to contribute to this country.”

Mr. Mwanza has since called on Zambians from all walks in life to take the first steps by reaching out to those whom they could have offended to make peace and seek forgiveness but also allow the spirit of reconciliation to lead our lives and the life of the Nation. “Go To Harare And Meet Opposition” Ramaphosa Advised After Envoys Deported By Mnangagwa

By Patrick Guramatunhu | “The decision by the Zimbabwean government to deny President Cyril Ramphosa’s envoys an opportunity to meet with opposition leaders was not only disrespectful to the office of the African Union Chairperson, which Ramaphosa currently holds, but seems to confirm that the voices of the opposition and civil society are being muzzled in Zimbabwe,” the report says.

“The Democratic Alliance (DA) now calls on President Ramaphosa, in his capacity as AU Chairperson, to show leadership and go to Harare and meet with all the relevant stakeholders and get a balanced picture of the political crisis unfolding in the country,” it continues.

The decision by Mnangagwa to send back SA President Cyril Ramaphosa’s envoys without allowing them to meet any of the other stakeholders they had expressly said they wanted to meet was rude and disrespectful of the envoys and the man who had send them.

However contrary Mnangagwa’s point of view happened to be as to what is wrong in Zimbabwe, he still had to respect President Ramaphosa’s right to differ. By telling the envoys to their faces that they would not be allowed to meet anyone, after they had come this far, Mnangagwa knew he was throwing his weight around and doing so to humiliate Ramaphosa. That was uncouth and totally uncalled for!

Still, we cannot but ask why President Cyril Ramaphosa send these envoys when there is no hope of SADC getting solving the Zimbabwe crisis.

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic and political crisis is the country’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. The country has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship for 40 years now. Four decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have left the country in economic ruins and 34% of the population, according to a 2019 WB report, are living in extreme poverty.

After a particularly obnoxious 2008 election process in which Zanu PF blatantly cheated and used wanton violence to stay in power, SADC leaders refused to recognise Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs as the constitutionally elected government. The regional body pressure Mugabe to accept the need to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF cheating and using violence.

It is a great tragedy that not even one reform was implement during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The MDC led by the late Morgan Tsvangirai, who were entrusted to implement the reforms, turned out to be breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent, they failed to implement even one reform in five years.

What is clear is that Mnangagwa will never implement any reforms, even if SADC could get him to agree to another power sharing arrangement with MDC. Since Zanu PF cannot be trusted to implement the reforms, the only option left is for the party to step down. SADC has already endorse Zanu PF as the legitimate government and so, unlike in 2008, the regional body has no leverage to force Zanu PF to step down.

So if President Cyril Ramaphosa should listen to the DA and “go to Harare and meet with all the relevant stakeholders”! Then he must be prepared to go the full hog and force Mnangagwa and Zanu PF to step down because President Ramaphosa will look really foolish if at the end of the new GNU no reforms are implemented and Zanu PF rigs the elections!

Courts Sets Martha Mushipe Seditious Practice Case Ruling to August 31

Lusaka magistrate Felix Kaoma has set August 31, 2020, for ruling on whether lawyer Martha Mushipe has a case to answer in a matter in which she is charged with seditious practice.

This was after the State closed its case.

Allegations are that Mushipe on unknown dates but between July 1, 2015 and April 11, 2016 in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown and without lawful excuse, had in her possession seditious material namely “Strategy of domination, PF against opposition UPND 2015, 2016 and beyond-UPND at crossroads – transition or conflict / PF’s use of ethnic divide and rules as a means of maintaining political control in Zambia 2015-2016 and beyond” by General Tendai Muduli, Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula and Dydmus Mutasa.

The seditious document was allegedly found in one of the offices at Mushipe’s law firm which was then at Millennium Village Villa 48, Madagascar during a search that was conducted at the premises in 2016.

When the matter came up for continued trial, the State informed the court that it was closing its case and would rely on its evidence before court.

Magistrate Kaoma adjourned the matter to August 31, 2020 for a ruling on case or no case to answer.

He gave the defence 21 days in which to file in their written submissions and the State will respond before he delivers his verdict.

An arresting officer has testified how he allegedly seized a document at Mushipe’s law firm detailing strategy domination of the ruling PF against UPND from 2015, 2016 and beyond.

Mr Bernard Phiri, 40, a detective inspector based at force headquarters, told the court that Mushipe allegedly chaired a meeting at her law firm to discuss the said seditious document which was given to her by a well wisher.

He said the meeting later resolved to form a crack squad whose aim was to perform acts of violence against the people of Zambia and the State.

The arresting officer said 10 people attended the said meeting, among them Mushipe, Emmanuel Chilekwa, Ephraim Shakafuswa, Clayson Hamasaka, Nchimunya Siamunjeye, Soko Habinda, Clance Zulu, Sambo Lubasi, Omia Hakanga and Hastings Shakanga.

Malawian Catholic Priest Impregnates 30 Roman Sisters

CATHOLIC PRIEST IMPREGNATES 30 ROMAN SISTERS

Pope Francis has confirmed reports for the first time that a particular Malawian Diocesan impregnated 30 nuns.

According to Pope Francis, he revealed that priests and bishops in the Catholic Church had sexually abused nuns and that some priests have been suspended on several occasions.

Specifically, several examples came from Africa, where priests were said to have turned to nuns for sex during the spread of AIDS.

Some Catholic Priests Sexually Abuse Nuns, Sometimes to Avoid HIV Infection, Reports Say

Nuns around the world have suffered sexual abuse by priests, sometimes resulting in pregnancy and abortion, but church leaders have “fail[ed] … to discipline” the clerics involved, the New York Times reports.

According to five reports written by senior members of women’s religious orders and a priest, cases of sexual abuse against nuns have been reported in at least 23 countries.

In one report, Sister Maura O’Donohue, a physician and a member of the Medical Missionaries of Mary, wrote that women were “forced” by priests into sexual liaisons in order to obtain certificates or recommendations needed for work in a diocese.

O’Donohue also recorded cases where nuns were “recommend[ed]” by priests to take contraception, sometimes being told that oral contraceptives would prevent the transmission of HIV.

The report included “disturbing” accounts of nuns impregnated by priests, including one case in Malawi where 29 sisters in one congregation became pregnant by priests in the diocese. Another example explained the case of a nun who became pregnant by a priest and was brought by that priest to a Catholic health institution to undergo an abortion.

After the nun died during the procedure, the priest performed her funeral mass, O’Donohue wrote (Hedges, New York Times, 3/21).

The National Catholic Reporter said that “no comprehensive statistics” exist on the sexual abuse of nuns, but the “frequency and consistency of the reports … point to a problem that needs to be addressed” (AP/Washington Times, 3/21).

AIDS and Africa

While the reports documented incidents of abuse in a number of countries, much of the abuse was linked to Africa and the continent’s AIDS epidemic, the New York Times reports.

The priests in Africa often live in “isolated” areas, and fear contracting HIV from prostitutes and “other high-risk groups.” Many perceive nuns as “safe sexual partners” who do not carry the virus, the New York Times reports (New York Times, 3/21).

African attitudes toward celibacy and the “tradition of female subservience” in Africa also contribute to the spread of abuse, the AP/Washington Times reports (AP/Washington Times, 3/21).

O’Donohue said that in some African countries, “priests have a liberal interpretation of celibacy,” adding that one priest once said that celibacy “in the African context” barred priests from getting married, but not from having children (New York Times, 3/21).

In Africa, priests are often “better educated than the nuns,” and sometimes use “false theological arguments to persuade them [to have sex], suggesting, for example, that sex between two celibate religious [people] does not violate their vows of celibacy,” a report by Sister Marie McDonald, superior general of the Missionaries of Our Lady of Africa, stated (Willan, London Guardian, 3/21).

Vatican Response

The authors of the reports noted that church leaders often failed to punish or reprimand priests for incidents of abuse. In her report, O’Donohue wrote that while the priests involved in sexual incidents were “usually given mild reprimands,” the nuns were often “forced out of the order.”

And when one superior general “complained” to an archbishop about incidents of sexual abuse, she was replaced. Rev. Robert Vitillo, executive director of the United States Bishops Campaign for Human Development, wrote in a 1994 report.

“I myself have heard the tragic stories of religious women who were forced to have sex with the local priest or with a spiritual counselor who insisted that this activity was ‘good’ for the both of them.

Frequently, attempts to raise these issues with local and international church authorities have met with deaf ears” (New York Times, 3/21).

The Vatican yesterday “acknowledged” the reports, but added that the incidents of sexual abuse are “restricted to a certain geographic area,” without clarification (Reuters/Washington Post, 3/21). Vatican spokesperson Joaquin Navarro-Valls said, “Work is being done both on the training of people and the resolution of individual cases” (New York Times, 3/21).

He added, however, that “[s]ome negative cases cannot let us forget the often heroic faith expressed by the large majority of those men and women in religious orders and of the clergy”

Kampyongo Should Be Extra Careful About What To Say In Public Domain – Sikaile Sikaile

KAMPYONGO SHOULD BE EXTRA CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT TO SAY IN PUBLIC DOMAIN

The remarks by home affairs minister Steven Kampyongo, claiming that they have bought all these military weapons to deal with some people who want to cause anarchy next year, are criminal, insensitive and a serious threat to the security of the country.

In other words, Kampyongo, has told us that there will be war next year in Zambia and that we must all prepare ourselves.

Kampyongo, should not think that we are not aware of PF plans to cause trouble next year. We are very much reliably informed about all the evil plans ahead of the elections.

We know where all these military weapons are being stationed and at a right time we shall expose PF government so that the world see how wicked PF government is.

As stakeholders, we are watching and monitoring every step the PF government is making ahead of general elections.

It is not long ago when Davis Chama, defense minister made the same similar reckless remarks that threatens the peace of our nation.
Again the good part about these PF leaders is that they are indeed confused because what they bring to talk in public is what they discuss in dark corners.

Kampyongo and Edgar Lungu should be ashamed to be procuring war military weapons in a nation with pathetic health care services a situation that has led to high losses of lives on daily basis in our health facilities.

In a country were poverty threatens many lives it is disturbing to see those in leadership mismanaging public resources like that buying guns to defend their criminal activities.

The bottom line is that PF want to hold on power, because they are all thieves and criminals who are scared to go to prison.

I want to warn the people of Zambia to keep this in their minds that next year we are going to be dealing with criminals and thieves who have robbed our nation so much wealth, so let us prepare ourselves as citizens adequately.
They have bought guns and all kinds of military weapons for we the citizens, therefore, it is also important for us as citizens to prepare mentally, emotionally, psychologically and physically so that we liberate ourselves without fail or we perish forever.

It’s difficult to understand Lungu’s thinking capacity and approach on national matters. He is a very stubborn and arrogant person and we need to handle him the same way he treats us next year.

No amount of genuine advise will change Edgar Lungu and his PF government apart from prison. I’m advising PF leaders to begin renovating prisons for future use.

We can speak million times trying to advise him to behave responsibly, but he won’t listen.

The reason why you see us telling him about his brutal regime is not that he is the person who you can advise and he will change but to set records that on such a particular day we warned you and you ignored.

When dealing with dictators you must document every activity for future reference and this is exactly what we are trying to do with Edgar Lungu and PF government.

UPND and its leadership have no vision for Zambia and resembles PF in every aspect – Sean Tembo

0

Patriots for Economic Progress Leader Sean Tembo is happy with the accelerated rate at which the Zambian people have embraced his party as an alternative Government in waiting that can deliver on the economic, social and governance aspirations of citizens.

Mr Tembo says as, on Monday, 10th August 2020, the total paid-up membership of the Patriots for Economic Progress crossed the 600,000 mark.

He says for a political party that has been in existence for barely four years, this is no mean achievement.

Mr Tembo says Given the PeP exponential growth in the past few years, coupled with the visionary leadership of the PeP National Organizing Committee and the increasing appetite of the Zambian people to elect into office fresh blood that is devoid of recycled politicians that generally characterize Zambia’s political landscape, the political future of the Patriots for Economic Progress is bright.

He said given all the variables, he believes that it is in order to now declare the Patriots for Economic Progress as Zambia’s Third Political Force.

“Suffice to mention that it is not our desire to remain third-ranked for long. In the one year from now to Election Day, we shall be making a very spirited attempt to emerge victorious in the general elections, and to obtain the mandate of the Zambian people to preside over the affairs of this Republic”, he said.

Mr Tembo says the Patriots for Economic Progress are not in an Alliance with any political party, and the possibility of any Alliance with any political party between now and the Election Day in 2021 is totally out of question.

He says any other political party and their respective leaders shall be considered as their political opponents and they will be treated as such.

Mr Tembo says the theme of the PeP message to the Zambian people will be threefold ahead of 2021 firstly, how the ruling PF and its Government have failed to run the affairs of this nation and need to be replaced.

He said secondly, how the main opposition UPND and its leadership have no vision for this country and resemble the ruling PF in every aspect except the fact that they are not in power and thirdly, why the Patriots for Economic Progress and it’s leadership are the most suitable grouping to be next accorded the opportunity of running the affairs of this beautiful nation and to turn around this country’s economic fortunes as well as restore the rule of law.

Mr Tembo says his party saw it necessary to state its position as above so that there is no doubt in the minds of political opponents as well as the Zambian people in terms of where they stand and what their campaign message themes will be, going forward.

PF IS PRINTING MONEY- MUSOKOTWANE

PF IS PRINTING MONEY- MUSOKOTWANE

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) chairman for economics and finance Situmbeko Musokotwane says the Patriotic Front (PF) government is printing money, a situation he has described as disastrous to the economy.

Featuring on millennium radio’s “Interview program,” Mr Musokotwane disclosed that the current balance sheet at the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) indicated that the central bank was loaning out money to government which in itself is equivalent to printing money.

The former finance minister (MMD government) said the current PF government had spent all the money from tax payers and that the only option they had was to borrow money from BOZ, a situation he said was equivalent putting more fuel to fire or salt to an open wound.

‘’The exchange rate under such circumstances is likely to go up because now even to pay external debt, the central bank will be loaning government which is a wrong way to do things,’’ he said.

Mr Musokotwane explained that the mining sector needed to be handled with care as it was the biggest tax payer, employer and forex earner which was benefitting the country.

‘’The PF always want to spend money without understanding production, this is why the mining sector is still facing challenges, in 2010 and 2011 our copper production was more than 2 million metric tons per year but currently we (Zambia) are below 800, 000 metric tons,’’ he said.

Further, he stated that there was need to seriously come up with a good 2021 budget unlike the current one that was 50 percent spent on salaries, 40 percent paying back debt and that other important projects in the country had 10 percent share.

‘’As UPND, we will ensure there is a budget that will allow us to hire 40, 000 youths that have graduated from universities, a budget that will allow us to do many things unlike the current one which is just a budget of salaries and allowances,’’ he said.

‘’We need to engage the creditors, those that gave us the money so that the period in which we pay back can be strengthened and give us time to breath,’’ he added.

He said the UPND will be aggressive towards creditors and negotiate debts the country owes as it was the only way Zambians lives can be improved.

Kamala Harris Has Been Tough On Black People, Not Crime

0

By Blake S.

A couple months ago, I was chillin’ at my potna house watching football. During a commercial break, we started talking about Kamala Harris — and my potna’s older cousin shouted, “Kamala Harris! She been lockin’ niggas up at Renee (referring to the Oakland courthouse) since way back in the day and was doin’ it with a smile on her face.” He wasn’t wrong. Kamala Harris has spent her career as the district attorney of Alameda County, San Francisco, and as the Attorney General aka The Top Cop of California.

As someone from the Bay Area and living in Oakland, I am constantly reminded of her history of locking up Black people in the Bay Area. Her track record consists of terrorizing Black communities through the prison industrial complex and she has consistently shown herself to be an enemy to the masses of Black people.

While I admit the symbol of having a Black woman as president sounds nice, it doesn’t exclude Kamala from being critiqued. I operate under the political belief that there are no good presidents. Presidents are just figureheads for the white supremacist settler colonial state. I aim to have a principled critique of her record that advances Black political thought, yet Twitter has been full of misogynist critiques of Kamala. It is important we critique her while avoiding misogynoir, as there is no place for misogynoir in the Black liberation movement.

Whether it was declining to advocate for legalization of marijuana in California, in which Black people are arrested at the highest rate. Or her failure to support body cameras for the police while simultaneously opposing legislation that would require her office to independently investigate police shootings. Kamala is not for the people. She even defended the 3 strikes law, in which Black people are incarcerated at a rate 12 times higher than whites. Kamala Harris has demonstrated through her actions that she does not value Black lives, but rather supports our death via the carceral state.

Kamala’s support of the death penalty, which is a modern day form of lynching that has executed hundreds of innocent people, and also disproportionately affects Black people proves that she doesn’t value Black lives. Kamala even advocated that an innocent Black man named Kevin Cooper, who was a death row inmate and had a trial that was rooted in overt racism and corruption, be executed. She advocated for this even though Kevin had DNA evidence that proved his innocence yet Kamala Harris opposed it until the New York Times exposed the case.

Furthermore, America has no moral ability to be able to decide who lives and who dies. The death penalty is fundamentally racist, yet Kamala supports it — furthering her record as a tough on crime politician.

Not only has she failed to support policies that might improve the lives of Black people, she has defended the need for prison slavery. What’s dangerous about Kamala is that she weaponizes “civil rights” language however her actions prove otherwise. For instance, she said “the idea that we incarcerate people to have indentured servitude is one of the worst possible perceptions…I feel very strongly about that. It evokes images of chain gangs.” Despite making the connection between prison labor and chain gangs —she “pushed back against a federal order to expand an early parole program, arguing that it would deplete their stock of prison labor, especially inmates who fight wildfires”. These inmates make a dollar an hour, which is a form of slavery. Kamala is not only a super cop, but an adamant defender of the institution of policing that is rooted in slave patrols.

Kamala Harris evokes the language of being a civil rights leader for Black people. In her video announcement for president, she weaponized words like “truth, justice, and equality” and her campaign slogan is “for the people”. This is propaganda, and this campaign strategy isn’t something new, rather it follows what I refer to as the Obama Plan. The Obama Plan is a campaign strategy that will center a civil rights type narrative such as “hope” and will also use all the elements of Blackness we like in order to get a Black person elected. This campaign uses the popular aesthetics of Blackness despite the actions of Harris being fundamentally anti-Black.

Kamala used this plan by announcing her run for presidency on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day that celebrates the radical legacy of a Black man who stood for the liberation of Black lives with both an anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist politic. Kamala Harris announcing her run for presidency on MLK Day is disrespectful to King’s legacy and is a spit in the face to the Black radical tradition. Her announcing on MLK day is propaganda. It’s meant to fool Black people that she’s actually for us, despite her actions terrorizing the Black community through her role as a prosecutor. It shows us how Black liberals will weaponize the aesthetics of a freedom fighter in order to strengthen the united states colonial empire.

It is important that we understand that the “criminal justice system” is built upon the legacy of chattel slavery, and that it’s primary role is to lock up Black, Brown, and poor people to maintain a workforce (re: slaves) that supplies America an endless amount of free labor. This being said, Kamala has been the slave auctioneer and sending Black people to prison in order to maintain this endless supply of free labor. Yet some claim that she was a “progressive prosecutor”. How can there be a progressive prosecutor if the foundation of the criminal justice system is rooted in slavery and the genocide of the indigenous? If she truly was a “progressive prosecutor or a good prosecutor,” she would make sure that prosecutors do not exist. There were no good slave owners, or slave auctioneers, just as there are no good prosecutors.

Kamala Harris is what the Black radical tradition calls a neo-colonialist. Neo-colonialism is the integration of a colonized person into the colonized system in order to enact the policies of the colonizer. That being said, Kamala is a Black face doing the job of a white supremacist system. Neo-colonialism is white supremacist colonial propaganda, and it is meant to fool the masses of oppressed people that becoming the oppressor leads to freedom. Don’t be fooled by symbolism. As Obama’s presidency showed us, symbolism does not mean progress for the masses of Black people.

It is clear that Kamala Harris is not for the people. She is for the American empire. Don’t let her identity as a Black woman, or her identity as an AKA, or her status as an alumna from Howard University fool you into thinking she is actually for us: Kamala don’t give a fuck about you niggas.

We Have Been Insulted By Lusambo For Our Failure To Steal Government Money In 27 Years – Panji Kaunda

0

Panji Kaunda

WE HAVE BEEN INSULTED BY OUR SON FOR OUR FAILURE TO STEAL GOVERNMENT MONEY IN 27 YEARS

We may not argue further with our Lusaka Minister Bowman Lusambo that as a family especially as children failed to take advantage of the 27 years of being President’s children to to enrich better our lives. The Minister was right to say so but I can tell the nation that we feel insulted as a family including the old man for such words coming from Lusambo. We knew his father very well and further knew the family very well. It’s amazing you know especially that the old man got news of those words from undisclosed source. We are not sure how much his is affected him being an old man now but it has been mentioned.

I was talked to by Kaweche my young brother who is always with the big man home. Our father has summoned me over my issue to talk about Chimtengo forest. The old man is not very ok with the sentiments from his perceived son or grandson Lusambo. If K2m is nothing to Bowman or many other current PF ministers, it is certainly a huge money to many Zambians, further the land in question is very dear to the local people there. but the fact is that I don’t need that money, our father Dr KAUNDA doesn’t need that money. As a family we were brought up not take get what is not yours. Our father in his time from a youth to time he led Zambia and left office has always preached to us to be Christians who should try and strive to do what is right. Never steal, never mock people never get what is not yours.
Yes Dr Kaunda feel insulted and I am the cause if the insult to the family. I didn’t think Hon Lusambo would offer such a response without reservations. Certainly he is not a Minister of Lands neither is he a Minister of Local Government so it was shocking getting a response from him.

The owner of the family and name Dr Kaunda has since advised us never to get involved in this issue of Chimtengo forest again. In this case I offer my apology on behalf of the family and myself for unnecessarily bring the nation into disrepute. One thing to be put on record is that Chimtengo forest was not a personal land to anyone. Its a national land and it was supposed to the treated as such. It’s not about K2m but it’s about national property.

Yes Dr Kaunda was President for 27 years and not Panji Kaunda. Where was I going to steal the money to enrich myself when I’m not in any means. Did Hon Lusambo mean that if one is the Republican President then his children should take advantage to amass the wealth?, then our father was old fashioned.

I read what Former Minister Hon Ng’andu Magande said, we are old fashioned men who never stole. In this case either corruption, theft or other means have become the order of governance now. Few months ago I saw a video where a Minister mocked MMD ministers of the poverty they are going through. He mocked by saying “we steal so that our children live better in future”. This was not the case with Dr Kaunda. He respected national property.

My Brother Lusambo, and. Councillor Tasila, I unconditionally apologize for this.

The progressive Indian grandfather who inspired Kamala Harris

By SHASHANK BENGALI, MELANIE MASON

NEW DELHI — For a girl from Berkeley, about 5 years old, the setting must have been intoxicating: a bungalow surrounded by greenery in a newly independent African capital, where children ran outside to wave at the president’s car as he drove past.
This was where a young Kamala Harris spent time in the late 1960s, at a house in Lusaka, Zambia, that belonged to her maternal grandfather, an Indian civil servant on assignment in an era of postcolonial ferment.

The Indian government had dispatched P.V. Gopalan to help Zambia manage an influx of refugees from Rhodesia — the former name of Zimbabwe — which had just declared independence from Britain. It was the capstone of a four-decade career that began when Gopalan joined government service fresh out of college in the 1930s, in the final years of British rule in India.

It was also the start of a relationship that would define Harris’ life. Until his death in 1998, Gopalan remained from thousands of miles away a pen pal and guiding influence — accomplished, civic-minded, doting, playful — who helped kindle Harris’ interest in public service.

Kamala Harris is Joe Biden’s history-making pick for vice president

Aug. 11, 2020

“My grandfather was really one of my favorite people in my world,” Harris, California’s junior U.S. senator, said in a recent interview.

As she campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination, Harris often invokes her late mother, Shyamala, a diminutive and dauntless breast cancer researcher who taught Kamala and her younger sister, Maya, to strive for excellence and lift others up.

These were principles Shyamala inherited from Gopalan and her mother, Rajam. In 1958, she surprised them by applying for a master’s program at UC Berkeley, a campus they had never heard of.

She was 19, the eldest of their four children, and had never set foot outside India. Her parents dug into Gopalan’s retirement savings to pay her tuition and living costs for the first year.

“It was a big deal,” said Harris’ uncle G. Balachandran, a 79-year-old academic in New Delhi. “At that time, the number of unmarried Indian women who had gone to the States for graduate studies — it was probably in the low double digits. But my father was quite open. He said, ‘If you get admission, you go.’”

It sounds today like a classic immigrant tale, but Harris’ grandparents’ broad-minded values were uncommon for the India of that time. That family legacy doesn’t shine through in Harris’ speeches on the campaign trail, where she has struggled to break into the top tier. She seldom delves into her Indian heritage, reflecting a broader reticence to share personal stories beyond a handful of well-worn anecdotes.

“Shyamala was quite definitely influenced by my father, and she in turn had a great influence on Kamala,” Balachandran said in a lengthy conversation in his home, a modest, semidetached apartment his father built on land he was given upon retirement. Much of the family’s story was related by Balachandran and his daughter. Other family members declined to be interviewed.

Gopalan was a Brahmin, part of a privileged elite in Hinduism’s ancient caste hierarchy. In post-independence India, convention destined Brahmin offspring for arranged marriages and comfortable careers in academia, government service or the priesthood — if they were men. Women were not expected to work at all.

All four of his children bucked convention in their own ways.

Balachandran, who earned a PhD in economics and computer science from the University of Wisconsin and enjoyed a distinguished academic career in India, married a Mexican woman and had a daughter. His younger sister Sarala, a retired obstetrician who lives outside the coastal city of Chennai, never married. The youngest, Mahalakshmi, an information scientist who worked for the government in Ontario, Canada, had an arranged marriage but bore no children.

“Not one of them was traditional,” said Harris, who grew close to her aunts and uncle during extended visits to India as a girl.

“When you’re raised in a family, I guess later in life you realize how your family might be different,” she said. “But it all seemed very normal to me. … I obviously did realize as an adult, and as I got older, that they were extremely progressive.”

Gopalan was born in 1911 in Painganadu, a village ringed by temples about 180 miles south of Chennai, then known as Madras. His marriage to Rajam, who was raised in a nearby district of Tamil Nadu state, was arranged.

He started out as a stenographer, and moved the family from New Delhi to Mumbai to Kolkata as he climbed the ranks of the civil service.

In her 2019 memoir, “The Truths We Hold,” Harris wrote that Gopalan had been part of India’s independence movement, but family members said there was no record of him having been anything other than a diligent civil servant. Had he openly advocated ending British rule, he would have been fired, Balachandran said.

Raised mainly by Rajam — a no-nonsense woman with a soft spot for stray animals — the children were studious but occasionally got into mischief. Shyamala and Balachandran, whom the family calls Balu, were about two years apart and partners in high jinks. They would hide under beds, prompting Rajam to root them out with a broom handle.

In 1950s Mumbai, then known as Bombay, where Gopalan was posted as a senior commercial officer at India’s busiest trading hub, there were clear rules at home: To thwart businessmen who wanted to offer bribes, no strangers were allowed to enter the family residence on Pedder Road in the heart of the city, and the children were not to accept any deliveries.

But when visitors arrived bearing parcels, Shyamala and Balachandran would sometimes peek inside.

“If it was sweets or fruits, we’d say, ‘OK, you can give it,’” Balachandran said.

Shyamala was a gifted singer, specializing in the classical Carnatic music of southern India, a discipline she learned from her mother. She won a gold medal in a national competition and occasionally sang on the radio, earning a small bit of cash.

And unlike many Indian parents back then, Balachandran recalled, they let Shyamala keep the money.

At Lady Irwin College, then one of the top women’s institutions in New Delhi, Shyamala studied home science, which encompassed nutrition, textiles and childhood development. It mainly trained students for lives as homemakers, and her father seemed to think the subject was beneath her.

“What is home science?” Balachandran remembered him needling her. “Are you learning how to invite guests?”

Rajam, who was active in raising funds for social causes, was determined that the children pursue careers in medicine, engineering or the law.

“My grandparents had really high expectations of their kids and were nurturing,” said Balachandran’s daughter, Sharada Balachandran Orihuela, an associate professor of English and comparative literature at the University of Maryland.

“I do think now of just how permissive they were in allowing their daughters to leave them, but also of how bold the daughters were to want to leave to begin with,” she said. “And given that Shyamala was the oldest, she really set the stage for the rest of the siblings to follow in her path.”

When Shyamala left to study nutrition and endocrinology at Berkeley, eventually earning a PhD, most Indian households didn’t have phone lines. The family stayed in touch through letters, handwritten on lightweight, pale-blue stationery known as aerograms that took about two weeks to travel between India and California.

At the American library in New Delhi, Gopalan found an atlas with a street map of Berkeley. He looked up Shyamala’s address and traced her commute to campus. On her first trip home, Shyamala brought happy souvenirs of her new American life: vinyl jazz records by Louis Armstrong and Dave Brubeck.

She joined the black civil rights movement, where she met a brilliant Jamaican economics student named Donald Harris. When she and Harris married in 1963 — in what in India is still described as a “love marriage” — it marked an even greater challenge to convention, especially because she didn’t introduce him to her parents beforehand.

Donald Harris’ race wasn’t an issue for Shyamala’s parents, Balachandran said, but “the fact that she didn’t marry in India might have upset them, and the fact that it was someone they didn’t meet.”

No one from the family attended the wedding, but Balachandran said that was because of financial reasons. He had just gone off to study in Britain, and money at home was tight.

A few years later, Shyamala and Donald brought their daughters to Zambia. Kamala would have been 4 or 5 years old; Maya, two years younger, was still sleeping in a crib. The young Kamala was oblivious to the intrigue swirling around her, with Gopalan’s government-issued car whisking him to meetings with Zambian officials and diplomats dropping by for visits.

What she remembers is the soil of Lusaka, rich with copper, which glowed a fiery red.

After Shyamala divorced Donald in the early 1970s, she brought her daughters back to India often, usually to Chennai, where her parents settled after Gopalan retired. As the eldest grandchild, Kamala sometimes tagged along on Gopalan’s walks with his retiree buddies, soaking up their debates about building democracy and fighting corruption in India.

“My grandfather felt very strongly about the importance of defending civil rights and fighting for equality and integrity,” Harris said. “I just remember them always talking about the people who were corrupt versus the people who were real servants.”

In photos, Gopalan stares gravely from behind oversized glasses, but with his granddaughters he cracked sly jokes. When Rajam left the house, Gopalan, a strict vegetarian who avoided even eggs, sometimes cast Harris and her sister a conspiratorial look and said: “OK, let’s have French toast.”

He taught Harris to play five-card stud poker. If she misbehaved, Gopalan would take her into another room and pretend to slap her on the hand — urging her to shriek in mock pain — before reemerging to tell Shyamala, “I handled it.”

Harris wore saris for family events and spoke a few Tamil phrases with her relatives. Shyamala was determined that the girls retain links to India even as she understood — as Harris wrote in her memoir — “that she was raising two black daughters” in an America that would see them as black.

“There was never a question that they were Indian,” said Balachandran Orihuela, 36. “I don’t think she felt conflicted about it. She told the girls, ‘You are Indian; you are black. You don’t have to prove that you’re one or the other.’”

Shyamala bore the hidden scars of discrimination — Harris has said she was passed over for promotions and dismissed as unintelligent because of her accent — and dispensed lessons to her family and graduate students of color with the same sharp, sassy wit.

Her toughness became well known. After she had back surgery, she would work from the bedroom of her spacious condo overlooking Lake Merritt in Oakland, sitting up on her adjustable Tempur-Pedic mattress amid a sea of papers.

Balachandran Orihuela, who lived with Shyamala as an undergraduate at Oakland’s Mills College, recalled extended conversations surrounding race following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Shyamala warned her that American men would call her exotic, a term she said was meant to diminish her.

“The minute they call you exotic, you walk away from them and tell them to f— off,” Balachandran Orihuela remembered her saying. If anyone asked where she was from, Shyamala admonished her to answer: “None of your business.”

Shyamala died in 2009 of complications from colon cancer. She was 70. Rajam passed away later that year.

In her cousin Harris, 18 years her senior, Balachandran Orihuela sees glimmers of her aunt’s intensity and focus, as well as her warmth. When Harris arches an eyebrow during a presidential debate, the feisty skepticism reminds her of Shyamala.

“There’s very little ambiguity, very little moral relativism to debate with Kamala,” she said, “and Shyamala was very similar.”

In February 1998 — the month Harris was appointed assistant district attorney in San Francisco, beginning her political rise — she traveled to India to visit Gopalan, who was 86 and ailing.

Two weeks after her visit, he passed away.

One of Harris’ fondest memories of Gopalan’s final years was in 1991, when the whole family gathered in Chennai to celebrate his 80th birthday. It had been at least 20 years since everyone was together, and Rajam — by then great-grandmother to Maya’s daughter, Meena — insisted that they all stay in their three-bedroom apartment, on a quiet, tree-lined street a few blocks from the beach.

Overwhelmed with pride at having four generations under her roof, Rajam urged them not to venture outside in one group, lest the evil eye fall on her extended brood, Balachandran recalled.

Harris, who was about 27 at the time, remembered a house bristling with strong personalities, her aunts and uncle suddenly reverting to the role of children. Rajam quibbled with Shyamala, two forces of nature colliding in the ground-floor flat.

“It was just a whole scene,” Harris said with a laugh, “and by the end of it we went to a hotel.”

My Deep Reflections On Davis Mwila’s Observation On PF Leaders Who Hail From Luapula Province and Their Perceived Persecutions By Own Government

0

OPINION: My Deep Reflections On PF Secretary General Davis Mwila’s Observation On PF Leaders Who Hail From Luapula Province and Their Perceived Persecutions By Own Government.

The PF SG observations and his courage to speak out could not have come at a better time than now because we have enough time to go before the 2021 general elections. SG Mwila is quoted in the Diggers Newspaper of 10th August 2020 saying at a meeting in Mansa the provincial capital that “it pains me that only us people from Luapula are arrested on corruption”. All the uncomfortable issues that may emerge from this difficult conversation the SG is bringing about within PF ranks and file have enough time to heal before the general elections in exactly 12 solid months from now. PF cannot afford to plunge itself in these upcoming serious do or die elections next year in such a fragmented state. Anyway, I will let the SG continue with this inevitable conversation with necessary party and government staleholders.

In this article, I want to focus on one or two critical issues and similarities between the case of The People Versus Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya and The people Versus James Chungu and Eric Chimese. It is a notorious fact that these two cases are currently active in court with Chungu facing one joint money laundering charge while General Chimese faces two counts of Abuse of Authority and two Money Laundering charges. Honourable Chilufya has four similar charges.

Central to the trial of The People versus Chimese and Chungu is the fact that the Zambia Air Force Head of Human Resource, Administration and Policy testified before Magistrate Nsunge Chanda stating the Zambia Air Force official’s position on the allegations regarding the alleged Abuse of Authority is that: The Zambia Air Force has no record of any Zambia Air Force employee ever working or being engaged by retired Airforce Commander Lt. Gen Chimese to work at his personal property. The witness further told the court that if such records were there, ZAF would have freely and easily presented those records on behalf of the people or state before the court since the accused former Commander was no longer in government.

Regarding money Laundering, the ZAF Head of Administration further told the court that all books of accounts were audited by The Internal Auditor, the Chief of Audit and his staff and found nothing to do with any loss of resources of any kind. He further told the court that the Office of the Auditor General has further audited ZAF for the entire seven years on yearly basis that Lt. Gen. Chimese was Commander of ZAF from 2011 to 2018 and all records of these audits were presented to Parliament and show no single case of money laundering or loss of resources occasioned by the accused person Lt. Gen. Chimese. The ZAF Head of Human resource testimony is available from all media houses both print and online.

Now, the 100 Million dollar question that needs to be answered by all of us is that: If ZAF, the organization that General Chimese was working for and the only contact Chimese had with government of the Republic of Zambia ZAF, has said that General Chimese did not abuse his authority and that ZAF in particular or government in general did not lose any resources through General Chimese, who in this world is going to tell us the opposite story? WHO THEN IS DEC Working with on this particular case? Who is complaining on behalf of the people or The State of the Republic of Zambia?

I am immediately tempted at this stage to draw your attention to Dr. Chitalu Chilufya Versus The People and in this case, the testimonies by two critical witnesses namely Investigations Officer from The Anti Corruption Commission and a ZRA Tax official. The Investigations Officer and ZRA official have stated that they saw absolutely no offences committed by Dr. Chitalu Chilufya. The two government officials said this willingly and did not say so under duress.

Before I make any assumptions yet, I want to refer to the case of The people versus Chungu and Chimese. Rachael Tembo the Registrar at the Ministry of Lands put it before the court that the alleged properties owner is Chita Lodge. The property ownership has never changed from the time Chita Lodge acquired the property in 2010 from the late former Zambia Airways MD Captain Godfrey Mundwe Mulundika. She further told the court that the document presented earlier to the court by the state prosecutor showing that the property belonged to General Chimese was a forged Tittle Deed. It is not a requirement by any law in Zambia to use a Tittle Deed for connection of power by ZESCO. Thus, the Ministry of Lands position is that the property belongs to Chita Lodge.

Now, this brings me to a remarkably simple conclusion that we have an invisible hand directing the State Investigative Wings namely DEC and ACC to fight specific government and party officials. Our Republican President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu should immediately engage the OPSD/Secret Service to quickly find out who is behind these two interesting similar cases and many more within the party. What are the motives behind these people playing this dangerous game? Who are they? Who is the Drug Enforcement Commission and the Anticorruption Commission working with? Who is the complainant? Where are the records of losses regarding what the complainant GRZ has lost?

When I was arrested for discussing the AVIC Home Affairs scandal, the Zambia Police failed to grant me bail because someone too important had to be consulted. I spent 7 nights behind bars on a bailable offence. Even my Boss, in the party was made to disown me. I survived, I am now home with my wife and kids. While we understand that justice will take its course through the courts of law for both cases, in question, it is very clear to the PF that we have an enemy within the party and government, and we need to act now.

We all know the contributions that the three individuals namely Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, Lt. Gen. Chimese and Mr. James Chungu have made both to the party and government and their inherent potential and relevance to the 2021 do or die battle. All our members know what these people mean to Luapula, the PF and current PF government. Thus, the enemies of the State have sponsored an anti Luapula Campaign to destroy the current status quo and our 2021 project. I may be a, journalist but I am passionate about the Patriotic Front, having sipped on a glass of wine with Michael Sata opposite his home at Chita Lodge, telling me what the PF stood for, then and now, of course.

I must admit that the presence of Traditional Chiefs at the court when Dr. Chitalu appeared the first day in July 2020 triggered two main reactions for and against. But to anyone who has a critical eye, that incident is worth giving a second thought and not to simply dismiss it no matter how we may have viewed the entire episode. And by the way, their Royal Highnesses never showed up at the subsequent sittings but simply withdrew. For your own information, my dad was Senior Chief Mwewa of Abena Ng’umbo. I know what I talking about.

Davies Mwila wonders whether only those from Luapula are thieves

0

PATRIOTIC Front Secretary General Davies Mwila says it pains him that ministers who hail from Luapula Province are being targeted with corruption allegations.

And Mwila says Zambians should give the ruling party an opportunity to govern the country for the next five years because PF has shown what it is capable of doing.

Meanwhile, Mwila says alliances do not work in Zambia.

Speaking when he addressed party officials in Mansa, Friday, Mwila wondered if people who hailed from Luapula were thieves.

“Eifyo ba (Nickson) Chilangwa ba chila landa ati bai kata uyu, bai kata uyu ni, jealous fye. (Ronald) Chitotela fyaile kwi? (This is what Chilangwa was saying that they keep on arresting government officials, it is just jealousy. Where did Chitotela’s case end up?) Elo ndaipusha pantu ifwe elo twali abaiche twa tampa ukulalolesha (When we were young, we were observing this) ba (Frederick) Chiluba babasenda…(he got arrested), from Luapula, Xavier Chungu from Luapula, Chitotela from Luapula, (Chitalu) Chilufya from Luapula, so ifwe ni fwebo bakabolala? (Are we the only thieves?)” Mwila asked.

“Those are the questions I am raising. This province yaliba (it is) stable politically. The Luapula people are very good. I am saying this because I am from Luapula so sometimes it pains me to see how my brothers are suffering, but we will pull through. God is with us. Fyonse nga wa chetekela muli lesa tapaba ichakosa (when you put faith in God, there is nothing that is difficult).”

And Mwila boasted that only the Patriotic Front had done a lot of work for Zambia since independence.

“We are going to field President Edgar Lungu in 2021 as our candidate, that is the position of the party, that is the position of the central committee. People are scared of President Edgar Lungu. Nabeshiba ati nga aba pa ballot paper, ninshi naba lusa (They know that if his name appears on the ballot paper, they will lose) because of the developmental agenda that he has taken. Airport tayali filya (we have rehabilitated the airports), twalibika (we constructed) Kawambwa- Mushota Road. Twabika nachi, secondary, (we built a secondary school) na (and) Kawambwa-Luwingu Road under PF twabika na (and we constructed the ) Mansa-Luwingu Road. Twilalaba (we should not forget). Twabika nama ( we have constructed) township roads. Isukulu yaba katolika baliwamya ba President batuletelako nomwakubika umuti province yonse. Ifingi fileisa (The President rehabilitated a Catholic school and he even built a storage facility where medicine is stored. And many more is yet to come),” he said.

“It is only Patriotic Front which has done a lot more than any other political party since independence. What we have done in nine years, we have done wonders as PF. In terms of infrastructure development, no one will beat PF! Imisebo, Zambia yonse yalionaike (the roads were in a terrible state) President (Michael) Sata came up with this program and President Lungu has continued with that program of building Zambia.”

He said the people of Zambia should give the ruling party a chance to rule again for the next five years.

“Tefyonse twingachita muli (we cannot do everything in) nine years. UNIP ruled this country for 27 years, MMD, 20 years, we are saying the people of Zambia tupeniko chance tubombeko (people of Zambia, give us an opportunity to work). We are a pro-poor party, our pronouncements are based on what is contained in the manifesto. We have the developmental agenda. Nangu balande (even if they say) we are corrupt pa social media…Ifwe inchito kubomba, abantu ba ka vota (our job is to work, people are the ones who vote) based on what we have done. We have done wonders. President Lungu is a man of his word. Even us, let’s get ready for 2021. Some people are saying I am campaigning. I am not campaigning. My job as the secretary general is to see the structures and hear their challenges. And I have to check how the party is going.”

Meanwhile, Mwila said alliances in Zambia do not work.

He also said NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili could not be Head of State because he was a joker.

“I was hearing that the NDC is in alliance with the UPND. Ba Kambwili is ready to work with HH. Twalibebele (we told) Kambwili, you can’t run this country, you can’t be a President. You are a joker. And even that alliance can’t work. Alliances don’t work in Zambia” Mwila asked.

Mwila said if UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema led the country, the people of Zambia would suffer because he was a dictator.

Takwaba na party ishyakwata (there is no party that doesn’t have a) general conference. If you give HH this country, the people of Zambia will suffer because he is a dictator. Democracy itampa mu (starts from the ) party then you go to the country. The current constitution is very clear, if anyone doesn’t pass through the conference so that he is elected as president, he can’t qualify to stand, it ends there.”

Meanwhile, Mwila said Democratic Party leader Harry Kalaba should swallow his pride and return to the ruling party. -ND

YOUTH CHARTER DELIVERED TO STATE HOUSE

YOUTH CHARTER DELIVERED TO STATE HOUSE

On Monday civil society activists successfully delivered a Youth Charter to State House.

The Charter details a number of concerns with the current situation in the country and sets out a number of demands for action across ten major areas including employment, education, corruption, human rights, taxation and the environment.

It was previously used as a guide for protests last month in which musician Pilato was a key figure. With riot police deployed in Lusaka ahead of the planned protest, armed and in full body armour, the youths instead held the protest in the bush and live streamed their speeches against corruption and poor governance to an audience of half a million.

The full text of the Youth Charter reads as follows:

“WE the youth of Zambia:
RECOGNISE that we are the future of Zambia and that the mistakes being made today will affect us in the future;
BEAR in mind our position as custodians of the future welfare of our country;
BELIEVE that Zambia’s best days are yet to come;
ENVISION a society in which all the rights enshrined in our constitution are accorded to every Zambian and protected irrespective of age, physical or mental ability, gender, geography, religion, education, or socio-economic status.
ASPIRE to a free society in which every Zambian can aspire for and attain a decent living forthemselves through employment or business ventures; AND are
CONCERNED with the current climate of joblessness, unchecked and rampant inequality, grand corruption and infringement of our rights, including the right to freely assemble, the right to free speech, the right to freely receive and disseminate our ideas are a major barrier to the realization of the advancement of the youth and enjoyment of our constitutional rights and the dignity of all Zambians,

We therefore, DEMAND the following:

1) Employment – Decent job opportunities for us the youth to avoid violent cadre-ism and involvement in illicit activities that result from the high unemployment levels which endanger our country now and in the future. Decent jobs are the key to our livelihoods and our dignity.

2) Corruption – Action against any individual reported to be involved in corrupt activities and that Government intensify the fight against corruption. We refuse to tolerate the abuse of public resources when a number of young people are starving in public universities for lack of money and we have continued to see and hear corruption allegations among top government leaders but no tangible results or actions to curb this evil.

3) Respect for Human Rights – That the State commits to the protection of the human rights of every citizen within the borders of our country. We demand for the Freedom of the Assembly, freedom of expression, freedom to receive and disseminate ideas and freedom of access to information. We believe these freedoms are important for all Zambians in their pursuit for a better society now and in future. We further
demand for protection from victimisation, suppression of youth voices by the state through the police and political cadres. We also demand for fair application of the Public Order Act.

4) Accountable Leadership – A leadership that is accountable and transparent to all Zambians. This is because we understand that our leaders are the servants of the people, therefore, the people must be aware and approve of what their servants do whilst in the office.

5) Respect for the constitution – That the sanctity of our constitution should be preserved and protected from those that may attempt to violate it. The constitution should guide our behavior and not the politicians guiding our constitution and any amendment to the constitution must reflect our desires as the people of Zambia and not the narrow partisan interests of a few politicians. Any amendment to the
constitution must only be done after full and adequate consultation of, we, the people of Zambia.

6) Education – Improved Learning environments for learners across the country, especially in rural areas. We believe that only decolonized quality education is key to the success of young people and that of our country. Comprehensive Civic Education focusing on Civil Political Rights, Constitutionalism and Patriotism. Enhance education to include compulsory Entrepreneurship, agriculture and Environmental education as part of the curriculum. We also demand equal access to education for
the girl child who continue to be disadvantaged on the basis of their gender. We also demand for the reinstatement of meal allowances for all students in all government universities because we feel even if we do not have resources, education cannot be one item we can compromise. Education is a right that every Zambian deserves. The rest of the world is positioning itself for the 4th industrial Revolution which entails the digitalisation of systems. It is our demand that the state should invest in computer literacy of our young people from primary to university. Computer literacy is not an option anymore but a necessity and we feel that the state must make prioritise computer literacy.

7) Access to health, good housing, clean water and good sanitation

So many of our citizens live in squalid conditions without access to toilets and clean running water. Many cannot afford to access good healthcare when they fall sick. We demand That equal access to these amenities be provided for all citizens to live in dignity. A properly funded public healthcare system is our right. Currently, decent healthcare is a distant dream for most Zambians. Healthcare remains chronically underfunded, and is a threat to our future. If we cannot be healthy, we cannot lead the country in the future and enjoy our right to a decent life.

8) Women’s Rights

The Zambian government and leaders at all levels must commit to include and protect Zambian women and girls in all arenas of our national life – in education, business, health, agriculture, government, mining, politics, and the home etc. Women’s contributions to Zambia’s development and well being is immeasurable and must be afforded the recognition and investment equal to their contribution. In Zambia, as elsewhere around the world, women’s unpaid care work in health,
agriculture, in the home, and the community must be recognized, reduced, and respected. In addition, Zambian women and girls must be defended and protected, especially from sexual and gender based violence.

  1. A Fair Tax System

A tax system where the richest citizens and companies pay their fair share. Zambia is a country with huge natural resources. Currently, a few Zambians and multinational companies enjoy the benefits of our natural resources, such as copper and gold. This is the wealth of our country and her citizens, and must be shared equitably to our benefit and to develop our nation. The tax system must ensure the wealthiest contribute the most, and the poorest citizens the least.

  1. Environment – That the state commits to making deliberate efforts to protect the Environment against the rampant deforestation and pollution of natural water basins. Zambia like rest of the world is battling climate change and we find it necessary for the state to provide affirmative action on environmental preservation.

We the youth of Zambia are committed to ensuring that these demands are met in our lifetime.”

Biden picks first Black woman as running mate

0

Joe Biden has selected Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate ahead of November’s general election. The 55-year-old California senator is the first Black woman and the first person of Indian-Jamaican descent to be nominated for national office by a major party.

She is also only the fourth woman in history to be chosen for one of their presidential tickets.

Biden’s selection of Harris – a former rival during the Democratic primaries – comes on the back of calls by a group of over 100 prominent Black male leaders across various fields including sports, entertainment, religion, academia, social justice and politics.

The group wrote an open letter to Biden, urging him to select a Black woman as his running mate in the November elections.

Biden made the announced of Harris as his pick in a text message as well as a follow-up email to supporters, The New York Times reported. “Joe Biden here. Big news: I’ve chosen Kamala Harris as my running mate. Together, with you, we’re going to beat Trump.”

The open letter, which was signed by the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs, basketball star Chris Paul, attorney Ben Crump, University of Virginia medical school dean Marcus Martin, Nick Cannon, among others, is to stand in solidarity with the over 700 Black women leaders who also signed an open letter in April urging Biden to pick a Black female VP. According to the male leaders in the Monday letter, Biden will lose the 2020 elections if he fails to select Black female.

Earlier this year, Biden flirted with the idea of having former First Lady Michelle Obama as his running mate.

“Well I sure would like Michelle to be the vice president,” Biden said in response to a voter in Muscatine, Iowa in January.

Biden ran against some 11 presidential aspirants to be selected as the flagbearer of the Democratic party in the November 2020 presidential election.

Running on the legacy of the eight years he served alongside President Barack Obama, Biden made no secret of his desire to have the former first lady as his vice president.

The pairing would have been the first in American politics as there has never been a presidential ticket that included a former first lady in the vice president slot.

I Will Give You 100 Pin If You Don’t Tell The Judge How I Bonked Your Wife , Foreign Affairs PS Tells Businessman Okpara

Foreign Affairs PS agrees to pay K100,000 in adultery case
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Ronald Simwinga has agreed to businessman Lombe Okpara for bonking his wife. Okpara has sued Simwinga for adulterated but now Simwinga has agreed to pay the owner of the wife K100,000 on condition that he does not produce the details of the adultery in court between the PS and Okpara’s wife Musamba Mulenga.
This is in a matter where Okpara has petitioned Mulenga for divorce for engaging in Adultery with former Permanent Secretary for Central Province Patrick Mwanawasa and Simwinga.

According to a consent order it has been agreed by mutual consent between Okpara and Simwinga who is the first Co-respondent in the matter that the latter shall pay K100,000 as full and final settlement of the matter with regard to the claims against him.
It has been agreed that Simwinga shall be struck out from the the proceedings as first Co-respondent and the petitioner shall not commence any other action based on the same and similar previous facts against the first Co-respondent upon execution of the consent order.
“The petitioner shall not avail evidence linking the first Co-respondent directly in regard to the settled matter,” read the consent order.
“Each party shall bear their own costs.”

However the consent agreement signed by both parties has not been endorsed by High Court judge Nicola Sharpe-Phiri.
Last month Simwinga in his answer to the petition said Okpara has failed to establish that he engaged in adultery with his wife Musamba Mulenga, therefore it will be unjust of the petitioner to be awarded damages.

Okpara in his petition for dissolution of marriage contended that his wife admitted committing adultery with Simwinga and Mwanawasa therefore he found intolerable to continue living with her upon discovering that she had engaged in adulterous acts and that he immediately asked Mulenga to leave the matrimonial house in November 2018 and they have since been living separately.
OKpara cited unreasonable behaviour among other reasons, claiming that Mulenga arranged and hosted a party for Simwinga at her sister’s house and convinced him that it was a kind gesture to appreciate him (Simwinga) for the favours that he did for her family.
The petitioner said his wife asked him to be present at the party and entertain the guests, little did he know that the primary guest was actually Mulenga’s sexual partner.
“The respondent would remain with keys to the first co-respondent’s (Simwinga) house when he was going out of the country. The respondent (Mulenga) admitted that she has been in an intimate relationship with the first co-respondent since 2016. In October 2018 the respondent complained to the first co-respondent for not updating her about his flight schedules connecting from Johannesburg to which he apologised for the omission” read part of the petition.

Okpara stated that Mulenga would bring men to their matrimonial house whenever he was out of the country to perform his duties and get her cooked food and takeaways.
He further contended that Mulenga would receive lingerie sets as gifts from other men, and she would talk on phone with men friends whom she has relations with in the bearing of the children of the family.

Okpara claimed that during a private meeting requested by his wife on November 27,2018, Mulenga confessed to have committed adultery with Mwanawasa and Simwinga, and she indicated that for Mwanawasa it was just that she wished it would never had happened while for Simwinga Mulenga had confessed having sex with him once in 2016.

The petitioner stated that during the said meeting he discovered that his wife had maintained an intimate relationship with Simwinga since 2016 and that Mulenga futher confessed to him that she had not slept with Simwinga in 2018 because he was too busy with work and was always travelling since he was transferred from Ministry of Finance to Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017.
“The respondent has behaved in such a way that the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to live with the respondent and prays that the said marriage be dissolved” Okpara said.

But Simwinga denied having committed adultery with Mulenga saying he shall put the petitioner to strict proof.
Simwinga refutted assertions that he was invited for a party but explained that he had only attended a luncheon at the home of the husband of Mulenga’s elder sister as they are good friends.

He also denied ever leaving the keys to his house with Mulenga.
“The petitioner has failed to show the respondent (Mulenga) and the first co-respondent (Simwinga) allegedly committed adultery. The first co-respondent objects to the prayers by the petitioner as the petitioner has failed to establish adultery and it will be unjust if the petitioner were to be awarded damages,”
“The claim against the first co-respondent should be dismissed for being frivolous and malicious due to the forgoing reasons.” Said Simwinga. -Daily Revelation

Normally people want to eat food alone, I was not like that – Rupiah Banda

0

Former Republican President, Rupiah Banda says becoming Head of State came as a surprise to him.

Speaking during a televised program, Ignite with Mwangala, Banda said he never dreamt that one day, he would be president even though he had held various government posts.

Talking of his early years, Banda said he had a privilege of becoming a leader at grass roots level.

“Just before parliamentary elections a group of people in Mutembere came to see me at my house at Chila Road saying they wanted me to be the area MP.

“I told them I have no means, but they said we are your means.

“Once I got in I had to decide on reruns, but to start with it was the people who pushed me into it,” he said.

Banda said his mother, seemed to have noticed that he would be a leader in later life.

“My mother seemed to have noticed at young age that I would be a leader. She said I was too kind I would come home with friends to eat despite us being a poor family growing up in Gwanda, Zimbabwe.

“When playing with others, from poorer homes, they would follow me home and we would have lunch together, my mother noticed that I was forgiving, generous, and praised me for it.

“Normally people want to eat food alone, but I was not like that,” he said.

He said after leaving active politics life changed for him when he lost his wife, he lived a miserable life in Lusaka, felt lonely and out of place.

“Though my children would visit me, I still felt out of place and decided to relocate to Chipata and my father, mother were still alive.

“I said to myself, why should I stay alone, let me go home and see my parents grow older,” he said.

He explained a moment that would change his life for good;

“One day, President Levy Mwanawasa sent his officials to come and see me at the farm. I was afraid because I thought I had done something wrong.

“He told me he was having problems with his campaigns, pointing out that he had narrowly won the previous election. So he wanted my help,” he said.

He was surprised;

“I asked him who told you to follow me, he mentioned a number of names, including his top advisers.

“Mwanawasa having had been my friend at one time, I agreed to work with him. He later appointed me his deputy and I finally succeeded him,” he said.

Banda was born on 19 February 1937, Zimbabwe (then Southern Rhodesia).

He earned a BA in Economic History from the Lund University in 1964.

Banda is the fourth President of Zambia serving from 2008 to 2011.

As President, he dedicated himself to improving Zambia’s economy, ensuring security, stability and prosperity for all Zambians.

He worked especially to improve healthcare and education, to increase agricultural production and to secure and increase the number of jobs in Zambia, particularly for people living in rural areas.

Banda was one of a generation of young men who participated in Zambia’s anti-colonial struggle. At 27 years old he became Zambia’s first Ambassador to Egypt. He left that posting the year of the “six-day war” of 1967. At 30 years old he was named Zambia’s ambassador to the United States and moved to Washington DC.

In 1970, he was appointed General Manager of the National Agricultural Marketing Board (NAMBOARD), the state crop marketing company. He subsequently became head of the Rural Development Corporation (RDC), the state agricultural holding company, one the largest state conglomerates of its time.

In 1974 he became the Permanent Representative of Zambia to the UN. He served as Foreign Minister of Zambia from 1975, a critical period in the history of Southern Africa. At that time, Zambian diplomacy centred on efforts to liberate Southern Africa and Zambia’s role was pivotal in the events and initiatives leading up to resolution.

Zambia’s abiding interest in the liberation of the region meant that its Foreign Minister was among the key figures in the diplomacy and events that eventually led to the emancipation of the region. As such, Banda is known by, and has interacted extensively with, many of the leaders of the region today.

He also served as President of the UN Council on Namibia which was effectively the government of Namibia while the matter of South Africa’s disputed mandate over the territory was resolved.

Banda had been Member of Parliament for the Lusaka seat of Munali for many years. He has also held the position of Senior District Governor for Lusaka, where he was the political and administrative head of the Zambian capital.

After the 2006 general election he was tapped for the post of Vice-President in Dr. Levy Mwanawasa’s government.

He took over Mwanawasa’s presidential responsibilities after Mwanawasa suffered a stroke in June 2008, and following Mwanawasa’s death in August 2008, he became acting President.

As the candidate of the governing Movement for Multiparty Democracy, he won the October 2008 presidential election. Seeking re-election in September 2011, he was defeated by opposition leader Michael Sata.

LUSAMBO IS SAYING ALL OF US WHO DID NOT STEAL ARE STUPID…Lungu, PF silence shows stealing is now govt policy, says Magande

By Patson Chilemba

Former finance minister Ng’andu Magande says the silence from President Edgar Lungu and PF over Bowman Lusambo’s statement that K2 million is nothing to report Tasila to the ACC for, clearly indicates that stealing is now a general policy in government.

Speaking with Daily Revelation on Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo’s comment that K2 million was nothing that ruling PF member Colonel Panji Kaunda should report President Lungu’s daughter, Tasila, to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for, Magande said what Lusambo meant for describing K2 million as nothing, and that Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s children failed to use their opportunity for the 27 years their father was in power, was that those who served in government before and did not amass as much wealth as he has done in just four years, were stupid.

He said it was particularly disappointing that such a statement could come from Lusambo, who a few years ago would frequent his residence to ask for money to buy fuel.

“And that (Lusambo’s comments) includes me because we did not abuse public resources. That’s being very ungrateful…for Bowman who a few years ago was coming to my house to get money for petrol to say those who served in government were not clever to steal public money,” Magande said. “When I read that I nearly wanted to ring State House to say can you remove this man from office.”

Magande later in the interview requested for the numbers of one of the President’s aides, saying he wanted to speak directly to the President on Lusambo’s insensitive comments.

He said it was clear that Lusambo did not understand what public office was meant for, as even the offices we was working from were built using taxpayers money, saying he must be more respectful to the first Republican president Dr Kenneth Kaunda and his family.

Magande said it was a serious indictment on the whole government system that Lusambo had made these comments, following in the footsteps of his own bosses directives that “ubomba mwibala alya mwibala.”

“I can see why people are getting rich while the people who are supposed to be the beneficiaries are getting poorer and poorer. And the other time they were showing the properties that he has acquired in a very short time. Where did he get the money from?” Magande said. “It is means there is a general policy for everybody to steal. Colonel Panji Kaunda talked about the President’s daughter, when did Lusambo become a relative of the President?”

Magande said hearing statements promoting public looting, showed that there was something seriously wrong in the management of this country.

“If there is no respect for the people who made this country what it is, if Lusambo can say that, what do you make of his children? What will they say for people like Dr Kaunda and us, if the father can be that derogatory?” Asked Magande.

Lusambo said Col Panji and his brothers lost out in the opportunity to put their lives in order during the 27 years their father, Dr Kaunda was in office, and therefore should not feel jealousy for Tasila.

Lusambo said K2 million was nothing to start reporting Tasila to the investigate wings for, as some even use that same amount of money just for shopping.

“You people this is not a time to start PHD, pulling her down pulling him down. This is a time to start clapping for people who are doing well. This is a time to start encouraging Zambians to have money. This is the time. I went to China, I met with a colleague, the governors there who were telling me that for us as China we want to have our own billionaires, our own millionaires in dollars so that we can run our economy ourselves,” Lusambo said. “We don’t want to run this economy depending on other people. But we can only do that if we stop jealousy in our country because K2 million there are a lot of people in this country who have more than that money. A lot of people, a lot. So if for arguments sake she spent K2 million, what is K2 million? What is K2 million? We have businessmen, we have people doing other things in this country with K2 million.”

Lusambo said civil servants were getting that amount of money in pensions, including those in parastatals.

“What is K2million, the money which we can even start talking about? K2 million people go out and do the shopping, with K2million. They do the shopping with K2 million. And investigating what? What has she stolen? She has stolen from who?” Lusambo asked. “So Patson let Panji actually concentrate on other things which can add value to the wellbeing of Zambians and I am happy that Panji is in Chipata.” -Daily Revelation

LUSAKA – 10th August, 2020

For a very long time now, falsehoods have been peddled against the Lusaka Central Constituency Member of Parliament [MP] Honourable Margaret Mwanakatwe concerning a woman known as Ms. Mercy Changwe.

Ms. Changwe has been illegally trading from an area that is not designated by the Lusaka City Council [LCC] in Woodlands area of Lusaka. Honourable Mwanakatwe has no authority whatsoever to stop anyone from trading on any place in her constituency. This power solemnly lies with the LCC and to some degree, the Police.

On the contrary, the MP seeks to serve all the people in her constituency including those who disagree with her politically. In this regard, if anyone or indeed Ms. Changwe needs any help in respect to a trading place from her constituency, they are free to visit her office. She would be most glad to engage LCC and other authorities to secure trading places for people in her constituency.

Lies that Honourable Mwanakatwe has anything to do with alleged demolition of Ms. Changwe’s makeshift stall must be treated with the utmost contempt it deserves. The MP is busy attending to needs of the people in her constituency and has no time whatsoever to be engaging in activities that do not add value to the welfare of the people.

According to records obtained from the Courts, this Mercy Changwe is a mental patient. On 25 March 2019, she was certified as a mental patient whose Mental Disorder Case Number is MD/14/2019. Anyone is free to visit the Ndola Subordinate Court to validate this.

Unpopular Lungu fed on lies – Priest

0

THE cost of living among our poor people is too high and unbearable but people surrounding you are lying to you that you are still popular on the ground, Fr Andrew Chewe Mukosa has told President Edgar Lungu.

He warns that if people continue to die of strokes and hypertension while others are reduced to beggars because their money is locked up, President Lungu’s government risked becoming a serial-killer, which would be an unfortunate trademark for the Head of State to bear.

In an open letter to the President, Fr Mukosa, a guardian at the Franciscan Novitiate at Itimpi in Garneton, Kitwe, who is also known as the ‘social teacher’ because of his solid stance on the social teachings of the Catholic Church, described the constitutional amendment Bill 10 that the ruling PF is determined to push through as useless.

The clergyman, however, praised the Head of State for having made some strides in certain areas in government but urged him to work on reducing the high fuel prices, the cost of electricity, cost of food as well as addressing the moral decay being exhibited by leaders in the ruling party and the high unemployment numbers.

Fr Mukosa stated that the people surrounding the President have destroyed the country by feeding him with lies.

He said there was need to protect the President by telling him the truth on the real situation on the ground.

Fr Mukosa said as a person who interacts with the common man, the situation on the ground indicates that the President was not popular in the country but that there was still room for him to regain his lost popularity by censuring people in his inner circle such as Lusaka Province minister Bowman Lusambo who has been issuing alarming statements that the ruling party will get power at all costs.

“Let me begin by praising you, our beloved President, that you have done a lot for this country. Road networks, hospitals and schools are well done. The ministers surrounding you are just busy destroying you by not telling you the truth. The one who loves you will protect you. The people of Zambia are very annoyed because of the following reasons and do not take it lightly: electricity tariffs are too high to afford, work on it. Fuel is too high to afford. Civil Servants who got loans from banks and other financial institutions experience double loan deductions, you are stealing from your own people, because the government does not send these deductions to the lenders and as such, the banks have started deducting from their bank accounts. This means that they are experiencing double deductions. You can’t know because the people surrounding you cannot tell you, but get it from me,” Fr Mukosa stated. “The people of Zambia are not happy with Bill 10 because the current Constitution does not discriminate against anyone in terms of sex, race, ethnicity etc. This means that the current Constitution protects everyone.”

Fr Mukosa also urged President Lungu to intervene in the liquidation of Zampost Micro-finance saying pensioners who deposited their savings in the institution have gravely suffered.

He said if people continue to die of strokes and hypertension while others are reduced to beggars because their money is locked up, President Lungu’s government risked becoming a serial-killer, which he said would be an unfortunate trademark for the Head of State to bear.

“…cost of living has become too high. People cannot afford proper meals. Work on it. The civil service is full of cadres. Everyone is boasting that he or she is connected to the President. Your typical example is the likes of your trusted personality Bowman Lusambo, he publicly says you will get power at all cost, and that he is your number one cadre, and you have decided to walk with him in such wickedness,” said Fr Mukosa. “Civil servants are working in fear. Work on this if you are a parent. What is on the ground is that you are not popular in Zambia, ‘but’ there is still room for you, as our father, to work on the above mentioned items. ‘A famous quote says that power without character will kill you’. For now, my Father, I end here. Food for Thought”

Azathu bakum’mawa osankhalira kumbuyo – HH

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema says most people are used with wrong leadership and believe that good leadership is not possible.

Hichilema has warned people in Eastern Province against remaining behind politically when other parts of the country have moved on.

He is also pledging to replace the Farmer Input Support Programme with agriculture support programme once in government.

Featuring on a special programme called ‘Forum Urgent Call on Smooth FM in Chipata on Thursday night, Hichilema said the UPND once in government would root out corruption in the purchase of fertiliser.

“I have already said that others don’t want us to talk about PF. Under the MMD the dollar was K5 but now it has gone to K18 under PF. For us, we’ll bring the dollar down to where it was because of the leadership that we are going to bring,” he said. “We are going to remove corruption in the purchase of fertiliser. At the moment, the government is buying fertiliser at K18,000 per tonne, but we will be buying at K7,000; meaning that we will save K11,000. If we save this money per tonne, it means we shall be giving out fertiliser at a lower price.”

Hichilema said by buying fertiliser at a lower cost it meant that maize would be produced at a lower cost.

“I think this is where the issue of leadership and management comes in because anthu ambiri tajaila (we are used with) wrong leadership. And when we talk about good leadership, they think it is not possible but it is very possible. That’s how we run business ourselves, that’s why we have been in business for over 35 years. And we have survived in business because we understand how to run a business,” he said.

On government’s move to rescope some road projects, Hichilema said it was an admission that there was no money to upgrade roads to bituminous standards.

“Now the question which is there is that, if they were maintaining the economy well, where did the money go? Government got loans and we are in debt like never before under this boma ya PF. They borrowed money, the Eurobond and money from other countries. They got US $13 billion and another US $7 billion dollars, so where did this US $20 billion dollars go?” he asked.

Hichilema said most road projects like the Chipata/Vubwi and Chipata/Chadiza had stalled because of corruption.

He said most people in Eastern Province did not get maximum benefit from their agricultural activities because the sector had collapsed.

“We are seeking leadership not to steal from the people, but we are seeking leadership to give to the people; to serve the people and to serve them better. The first thing that we are going to bring is the policy, zero tolerance to corruption,” he said. “We are going to do this by strengthening oversight institutions like Anti-Corruption Commission, Auditor General, Drug Enforcement [Commission] and Financial Intelligence Centre. We are going to give these institutions delegated authority to pursue corruption.”

And Hichilema said the UPND would restructure FISP to accord farmers an opportunity to get other farming implements other than fertiliser only.

“We are going to come up with agriculture support programme which will not only be about accessing fertiliser only. Agriculture is not about fertiliser alone. People need a lot of things to do their farming,” he said. “Under the UPND we are going to ensure that depots are close to the people. We are going to ensure that agro-dealers and transporters are paid on time. We are not going to allow cadres to smuggle maize in the neighbouring countries as is the case now.”

Meanwhile, Hichilema pleaded with Easterners to work with the UPND and redeem Zambia.

“Imwe banthu bakum’mawa tiyeni tisebenzele pamodzi, tifuna chitukuko, kulibe nkhondo inangu yamene tilinayo (You people of Eastern Province, let’s work together, we want development, there is no any other way that we have),” he said.

Hichilema urged youths top get NRCs and participate in changing government.

“Azathu bakum’mawa osankhalira mu mbuyo. Pamene tinachoka mu UNIP kuyenda mu MMD munankhalira mu mbuyo, pamene kunabwela PF munankhalira soti mu mbuyo. Chaka chamawa osankhalira mu mbuyo. Pamane banthu bazachoka mu PF kuyenda ku UPND (our colleagues from the east, don’t remain behind. When we left UNIP going to MMD you remained behind, when PF came you remained behind but don’t remain behind as people leave PF for UPND next year),” said Hichilema.

I’ve no time to sue Joe Mwale, says Edward Mumbi

0

EDWARD Mumbi says he has no time to drag Joe Mwale to court.

Mumbi is opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili’s spokesperson.

Mwale is a UPND member.

“I have absolutely no time to even think of consulting a lawyer over Joe Mwale. No!” Mumbi said in an interview.

“My legal team is not worth a person of Mr Joe Mwale’s standing. I just encouraged Chitimukulu, as my paramount chief, to sue him (Mwale).”

In The Mast on Saturday, Mwale cautioned Kambwili to trust ‘two-faced’ Mumbi at his own risk.

Mwale is also eagerly waiting for a suit from Mumbi, pertaining to his (Mwale’s) remarks against Chitimukulu, paramount chief of the Bemba people.

But Mumbi, on Saturday evening, indicated that “I have no time to sue Joe Mwale.”

“I would want to respect Mr Joe Mwale and so, he should not be a pathological liar because there is nothing that he is gaining,” Mumbi said. “As regards supporting chief Chitimukulu, that’s my paramount chief. Even if there is something, I have access to paramount chief Chitimukulu…”

He underscored that Mwale could not “alienate me from my own paramount chief.”

“Yes, I truly supported chief Chitimukulu when Joe Mwale insulted him and I even raised money to support the intentions of the Chitimukulu to sue Joe Mwale. [But] it’s not for me to sue him,” Mumbi explained.

Mumbi, a former PF secretary general, further reminded Mwale not to continue associating him to the PF.

“I resigned from there as secretary general! Even the people that are in PF today, they all found me in PF. So, if I went back to PF, I’ll go back as who?” Mumbi asked. “I have been a decent politician! When somebody does something that is good for the people, they deserve a pat on their back. I’m not a politician that insults. He is worried that Chishimba Kambwili is now building a stronger force.”

He said politics in Zambia had become scientific and that Mwale was not in the class of scientific politics.

“It’s unfortunate that some of the people that surround HH (Hakainde Hichilema), like Joe Mwale, make him lose elections. They are not worth the Zambian politics,” Mumbi said.

He also charged that, “If Mr Mwale doubts my financial muscle, I can employ him without any problems.”

On his part, Mwale said Mumbi should have respect.

“I have told him that I didn’t join the UPND to beg for money. I’m self-made! He cannot continue portraying a picture of me being a beggar. Can he produce a list of people I beg money from?” Mwale demanded. “It’s a taboo for me to beg for money from anyone, even my own children. I don’t beg! During the 2015 presidential election, I offered my 26-seater minibus for HH’s campaigns in Eastern Province. I have continued making contributions to my party, the UPND. Can a beggar manage to do all that?”
He reiterated that, “the question I have for him is why doesn’t he take me to court, like he was encouraging Chitimukulu? I’m ready for him.”

‘This is a dictatorship in everything, except in name’

0

There’s no doubt, this regime of Edgar Lungu is a dictatorship.

And Edgar is a brutal dictator who should be seen as such and called that.

Edgar does and has done everything dictators do – manipulate the electoral process, suppress freedom of speech, of the media, association, assembly and change the Constitution to perpetuate his rule.

Edgar has incarcerated political opponents on trumped up charges, including treason ones. He has seized properties of political opponents without lawful court orders or on corruptly obtained court orders and in total violation of the Bill of Rights.

Edgar has shrunk the political space for meaningful opposition and civil society political discourse and mobilisation work. Only his voice and those of his proponents should be heard.

If this is not dictatorship, what is it?

Emeritus Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu of Lusaka Archdiocese is very right when he says people should not be dithering around but call the current regime what it is – a dictatorship in everything, except in name.

He says Zambia has descended into a dictatorship because institutions of government had been corrupted by the Executive and not doing their work.

“This is not a democracy at all! This is a dictatorship in everything, except [in] name. That is it! There are no two ways about it. People should not be going around beating about the bush; this is the situation,” says Archbishop Mpundu. “All administrations have to be judged by their actions. This country is in a crisis – crisis of leadership, crisis of the economy. Putting people at loggerheads – tribalism and so on and so forth. Is this a government they want to continue? Let them ask themselves sincerely. Corruption, mamama! So, [they should ask themselves if] this is the government they want to continue with or they need a big break.”

The word “dictator” comes from the Latin language word dictator, agent. In Latin use, a dictator was a judge in the Roman Republic temporarily invested with absolute power.

A dictatorship is a form of government characterised by a single leader or group of leaders and little or no toleration for political pluralism or independent programmes or media.

Typically, in a dictatorial regime, the leader of the country is identified with the title of dictator, although their formal title may more closely resemble something similar to “leader”. A common aspect that characterised dictatorship is taking advantage of their strong personality, usually by suppressing freedom of thought and speech of the masses, in order to maintain complete political and social supremacy and stability. Dictatorships and totalitarian societies generally employ political propaganda to decrease the influence of proponents of alternative governing systems.

Seer 1 is a fool, it is astonishing that some Zambians find it pleasant to watch his videos – Bowman Lusambo

0

LUSAKA Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says he will personally throw out Seer-1 the day he will step foot in Zambia.

And Lusambo says it is astonishing that some Zambians find it pleasant to sit, view, download and share videos of Seer-1.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Lusambo also condemned some political groupings that find it pleasant to be clapping for Seer-1 when he insults Zambian leaders.

“I again warn Andrew that since he claims to have some mystical powers, let him use those same fake powers to enter any part of this great country and he will regret that action for the rest of his life. I will personally throw him into the gallows and throw away the keys,” Lusambo said.

He said it is a greatest betrayal of national patriotism for any citizen to sit and watch the country’s sovereignty being shredded to pieces by a desperate, stranded and stateless individual who fakes miracles to survive.

” I know Andrew is stranded because if he had a home, he would have gone there after being deported from Zambia but he went and sought refuge in South Africa,” said Lusambo.

“But he knows that there is nothing he can do in Nigeria. That land has many great men and women of God who serve the Lord in truth and in spirit. Nigeria is full of great men of God such as Bishop Adeboye and little Andrew knows that he cannot manipulate Nigerias with his fake miracles.”

Lusambo also urged Zambians to realize that they have birthright and expected to all rise up and defend the country when attacked unfairly.

CLAPPING FOR A FOOL- WRITES LUSAKA PROVINCE MINISTER BOWMAN LUSAMBO

I find it extremely astonishing that some Zambians can still find it pleasant to sit, view, download and share videos from fugitive, nomadic and discredited fake Prophet Andrew also known as Seer 1.

I also find it strange that some political groupings within Zambia could find it pleasant to be clapping for Andrew when he goes on his usual desperate rantings about Zambia and in the end insults everyone including our Head of State His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and other national leaders.

It is the greatest betrayal of national patriotism for any citizen to sit and watch the country’s sovereignty being shredded to pieces by a desperate, stranded and stateless individual who fakes miracles to survive.

I know Andrew is stranded because if he had a home, he would have gone there after being deported from Zambia but he went and sought refuge in South Africa.

But he knows that there is nothing he can do in Nigeria. That land has many great men and women of God who serve the Lord in truth and in spirit. Nigeria is full of great men of God such as Bishop Adeboye and little Andrew knows that he cannot manipulate Nigerias with his fake miracles.

It should be known that Zambia is our birthright and it is expected that we will all rise up and defend this great nation when attacked unfairly.

For the people that clap for Andrew, I ask you to search your souls and ask yourselves what makes you Zambian.

For Andrew, the desperation to return to Zambia shows with every video he makes. He clearly misses this beautiful country than he does any other on earth because he knows that Zambia is the greatest country on this earth. Sadly for him, he will never step his ugly foot on our beautiful soil. Andrew can make a million videos, that won’t be enough to hand him a visa to enter Zambia again.

One would ask, If Andrew cared so much for Zambia as he claims, why doesn’t he go and attend to issues in the land of his birth. We know Nigeria just like any other country in the world has a myriad of problems which if indeed Andrew cares, he should be focusing on resolving. But we know that what has infuriated Andrew’s troubled soul is the fact that he cannot enter Zambia anymore, a country that gave him so much when he was here.

In one of his his latest videos which I was made to view, Andrew shows his highest levels of ignorance when he attacks me on the basis that he has never heard me debate in Parliament. If he had finished his school, he would have understood that the parliamentary system we use in Zambia doesn’t allow Provincial Ministers like myself to necessarily debate, raise questions or even present Ministerial statements but obviously Andrew is too dull to understand parliamentary procedures.

If Andrew wants the world to believe that I have never debated in Parliament, I will ask him to tell the world how I defended the Provincial budgets both as Copperbelt and Lusaka Province Minister on the floor of the House.

It’s highly unfortunate that Andrew has now resorted to attacking highly respected institutions in our country such as our Honourable National Assembly. He claims the Honourable Members of Parliament just go the August House to shout “Yaya yaya yaya”, again that’s another display of his utter ignorance. I should educate Andrew that Parliaments would over have their own coded words of approving or disapproving of any motion and the Zambian Parliament just like any other legislative assembly has strict rules of engagement, for instance, MPs are not supposed to clap the way Andrew expects his followers on social media to clap for him when he makes his usual rantings like a rabid dog.

I again warn Andrew that since he claims to have some mystical powers, let him use those same fake powers to enter any part of this great country and he will regret that action for the rest of his life. I will personally throw him into the gallows and throw away the keys.

Andrew shouldn’t think the country has forgiven him of all those rape crimes he committed and the several women he swindled off their cars and properties whilst in Zambia on the pretext of performing miracles.

In this country, we don’t believe in magicians who perform Abracadabra but he only worship one true God whose son is Jesus Christ.

Have a blessed week.
