Cyril Ramaphosa’s loyalist shares list of leaders who MAY take over if Ramaphosa steps down

It would be naïve to ignore the fact that Fraser’s exposé might be part of the factional fights within the ANC; that he has been used to undermine Ramaphosa in the hope of snuffing him out of the race. The criminal charges laid by Arthur Fraser against President Cyril Ramaphosa may have a serious negative impact on him.

At the moment, the road to the December elective conference seems a bit shaky for the Thumamina faction. As we stand, the President, who is the man behind the faction, is skating on thin ice as calls for him to step down are gaining traction. Meanwhile, the RET faction seem to be fighting tooth and nail to have Ramaphosa removed from office. If Ramaphosa gets removed, that may be the end of his faction and should ANC win the 2024 elections, the RET forces will take over and rule the country.

A diehard supporter of Ramaphosa, Goolam, has taken to Twitter to share a list of leaders who may succeed Ramaphosa if he is removed from Presidency. “If you don’t support President Cyril Ramaphosa then you will end up with this. Yes, you will vote for someone else in 2024, but if the criminal RET wins the 2022 ANC elective conference they will remove Ramaphosa and you will have Ace Magashule as president”, Goolam said. “I am talking about the period December 2022 to May 2024, ANC will still be in power. Impossible for any other party to be in government”, Goolam adds.

In my opinion, if this list gets in power, the process of removing the whole ANC from power will be final. It’s not many citizens who would want to be governed by the people on that list. Yes, they may be leading after the December elective conference, but come 2024, no one would want anything to do with the ruling party. That slate scares me, if those guys come to power it’s history for South Africa, they might end up looting this country to the bones.

Have a look at the list below:

UK forced to cancel deportation flight to Rwanda after European court ruling

0

A first flight carrying asylum seekers to Rwanda as part of a controversial UK policy was cancelled on Tuesday in an embarrassing blow to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government.

The number of those due to be put on the flight had dwindled from an original 130 to seven on Tuesday and finally none thanks to a last-minute ruling from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

British Home Secretary Priti Patel said she was disappointed that “legal challenge and last-minute claims” meant the plane did not take off but vowed to pursue the heavily criticised policy.

“We will not be deterred,” she said in a statement.

“Our legal team are reviewing every decision made on this flight and preparation for the next flight begins now.”

el called the ECHR intervention “very surprising” and vowed that “many of those removed from this flight will be placed on the next”.

The flight cancellation is an embarrassment for Johnson’s Conservative government, after Foreign Secretary Liz Truss insisted the Kigali-bound plane would leave, no matter how many people were on board.

“There will be people on the flights and if they’re not on this flight, they will be on the next flight,” Truss told Sky News earlier Tuesday.

The ECHR issued an urgent interim measure to prevent the deportation of an Iraqi man booked on the flight as he may have been tortured and his asylum application was not completed.

The Strasbourg-based court said the expulsion should wait until British courts have taken a final decision on the legality of the policy, set for July.

British newspapers from across the political spectrum expressed outrage at the eleventh-hour reversal and the government’s handling of the affair.

The conservative Daily Mail and Daily Express placed the blame in the hands of “meddling judges in Strasbourg”, expressing anger at what they called the “abuse of the legal system”.

The left-leaning Daily Mirror, meanwhile, slammed the government’s “cruel farce” and the “chaos” the policy had provoked.

Omar al-Bashir on Verge of Returning to Power in Sudan?

0

There are increasing concerns in Sudan over what many have termed the systematic return to power of al-Bashir, three years after his ousting.

As you would recall, the former president was removed from power by an uprising by citizens who occupied the streets for four months. However, within the last few weeks, many of al-Bashir loyalists are being given influential positions by the military junta that took over the country recently.

Many critics and citizens alike are scared that the military junta is orchestrating a return to power for Omar al-Bashir and members of his party, the National Congress Party (NCP).

The transition government in Sudan set up after the deposition of al-Bashir ended last year after Gen Abdel-Fattah Burhan led a coup against his civilian partners. The civilians played a pivotal role in the mass protests Bashir regime, which subsequently led to its fall.

Some critics are of the opinion that the military junta is controlled by loyalists of al-Bashir and they are systematically trying to return him to power.

A senior member of the pro-democracy Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) movement, Hamza Balol, who was a key government official before the coup believes the military has sabotaged the transition by protecting the NCP.

After seizing power, the military junta suspended all the directives of the transition government and reversed all its decisions of the committee.

The committee which was led by lawyer Wajdi Saleh, who was detained after the military takeover – was instrumental in exposing the corruption that was rampant under Bashir.

It named corrupt officials and businessmen, fired civil servants, announced the seizures of assets, issued arrest warrants, froze bank accounts, and was investigating the dealings between the NCP leadership and army generals when the coup was staged.

One of the recent appointments by the military junta was the appointment of Gen Ahmed Mufdal, a former governor of South Kordofan and NCP leader.

Gen. Mufdal is a well-known loyalist of Omar al-Bashir, and his recent appointment as the head of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) has sparked outrage. The GIS is the new name for the National Intelligence and Security Service, an organization that was leather during Bashir’s rule.

In what critics have also said is a further sign of the al-Bashir’s return to public life, hundreds of bank accounts belonging to its members have been unfrozen, and some of its leading members have been released from detention.

According to a report by the BBC, the released accounts include:

• Former NCP head, and former foreign minister, Ibrahim Ghandour

• Former East Darfur governor Anas Omar, who is accused of human rights violations

• Cleric Muhammad Ali Al-Jizouli who once supported the militant Islamic State (IS) group

Interestingly, Bashir himself, however, remains a prisoner of the junta. Even though he was convicted of corruption in 2019, and has been on trial since July 2020 for the coup that first brought him to power in 1989. The junta has refused to hand Bashir over to the International Criminal Court to stand trial on war crimes charges over the conflict in Darfur, which he denies.

Some analysts believe the generals might eventually release Bashir, just as Egypt’s ousted President Hosni Mubarak was freed after the military took power in 2013.

Jailed Russian opposition leader and Vladimir Putin’s critic Alexei Navalny ‘vanishes’ from prison

0

ailed Vladimir Putin’s critic, Alexei Navalny has reportedly gone missing from a prison in Russia.

The high-profile Russian opposition leader did not show up for a meeting with his lawyers today at the Pokrov penal colony and his whereabouts is now unknown.

“Where Alexei is now, and which colony he is being taken to, we don’t know,” Leonid Volkov, Navalny’s chief of staff, said in a statement on the Telegram app.

Volkov said his lawyer went to see him but was kept at the checkpoint until 2pm before they told him: “There is no such convict.”

Navalny was jailed by the Kremlin at the start of 2021 upon returning to Russia after receiving medical treatment in Germany following a poison attack with a novichok nerve agent during a visit to Siberia in 2020.

Navalny and his team subsequently accused Putin of the attack.

He is currently serving over 11 years in jail after being imprisoned last year for two-and-a-half years and in March being sentenced to an additional nine years for fraud and contempt of court.

Concern over his whereabouts comes just weeks after Russian President Putin’s political foe faced a 15-year extension to his prison term following new criminal accusations.

Authorities declared two weeks ago that they had opened a new investigation against the 46-year-old on charges of “creating an extremist group to fan hatred against officials and oligarchs” and trying to stage unsanctioned rallies.

He responded to the so-called charges by saying: “Not even eight days have passed since my nine-year high-security sentence came into force, and today the investigator showed up again and formally charged me with a new case.

“It turns out that I created an extremist group in order to incite hatred towards officials and oligarchs. And when they put me in jail, I dared to be disgruntled about it and called for rallies.

“For that, they’re supposed to add up to 15 more years to my sentence.”

Navalny was given a nine-year term in 2021 after a Russian court found him guilty of fraud charges. They also fined him 1.2 million rubles (around £17,500).

He has openly condemned the invasion of Ukraine, claiming it was “stupid” and “built on lies”.

He told a court hearing: “The war was intended to cover up the robbery of Russian citizens and divert their attention away from the country’s internal problems.”

Before he went missing, Navalny was serving at the Correctional Colony No. 2, a prison camp in Pokrov, 74 miles east of Moscow.

‘Europe will disappear’ if West sends nuclear missiles to Ukraine – Russia warns

0

The Russian government has threatened to make Europe ‘disappear’ if Western leaders supply nuclear weapons to Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin’s top political ally Viacheslav Volodin, who is also head of the State Duma, warned such a move would provoke a ‘nuclear conflict’ on the continent.

The threat comes after Poland’s ex-foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski reportedly called for the transfer of nukes to Ukraine’s President Zelensky to strengthen his defence.

No Western leaders have so far suggested arming Ukraine with nuclear weapons and it is unclear if Poland has plans to do so.

To which Volodin has now repudiated, and as a key figure in Russian politics, his words are not to be taken lightly.

‘With such deputies, the Europeans will have much more serious problems than those they have already faced today (refugees, record inflation, energy crisis),’ Volodin, the head of the State Duma, hit back on Telegram.

‘Sikorski provokes a nuclear conflict in the center of Europe. He does not think about the future of either Ukraine or Poland.

‘If his proposals are implemented, these countries will disappear as well as Europe.

‘He needs to be examined by a psychiatrist, pass the mandate and stay at home under supervision.

‘It is precisely because of people like Sikorski that it is necessary to liberate Ukraine not only from the Nazi ideology, but also to demilitarise it, ensuring the country’s non-nuclear status.’

Mr Sikorski told Ukrainian channel Espreso TV the Russian president had violated the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances of 1994, which pledges to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity, in exchange for Ukraine handing over it’s nuclear arsenal to Russia.

He said this breach would justify the delivery of nuclear weapons from the West.

In a post on Twitter addressed to Volodin, Mr Sikorski said: ‘You promised Ukraine to respect her borders in 1994 in return for her nukes.

‘You are now colonizing her and you threaten both Ukraine and NATO with your nukes.

‘We just want you to know that if you use them, we have options too.’

Woman batters husband to death then gets her butcher sons to chop up his corpse

0

A woman has admitted to beating her husband to death and then asking her butcher sons to chop up his corpse but she says she did it because the man sexually abused their daughter.

Binmen found two lower legs with the feet still attached in a rubbish bag on a pile of trash in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina, on Thursday, June 9.

Police were called and later found the dead man’s head in a bucket of cement in a stream.

Officers tracked down suspect Laura Marcela Campos after studying recent missing person cases.

The 47-year-old admitted that she had beaten her husband Daniel Tomas Silvero, 56, to death during a violent row.

She told police he was abusing her teenage daughter and, as reported by local media, Silvero was facing a 2019 case of allegedly raping the girl as a 12-year-old.

Silvero had also allegedly been reported to the police for sexually abusing his own biological daughter – name not reported – in 2010.

After killing him, his wife got her two sons to hack his body into pieces before they hid his body parts around town.

It was one of the victim’s daughters from a previous relationship – named only as Milagros in local media – who had reported her father missing after getting a strange message sent from his mobile phone.

The message, which was unusually full of spelling mistakes, told her he was going to move house and change his phone number and not to look for him.

Milagros also told police that her father had earlier sent a letter to his first family, warning them that if something happened to him, they should look for him at his current home.

The last time he had been seen alive was the previous Wednesday, June 1.

At the time, Campos claimed he had failed to return from a day out fishing.

Another daughter, Daniela, said her father would visit his former family every other day and that he often complain that his current wife would beat him and take his money.

Cops arrested Campos and her two sons, aged 27 and 21, on Friday, June 10.

When questioned by prosecutor Marcela Juan on Saturday, Campos admitted her guilt and claimed her late husband was a violent abuser.

She added that she was unable to leave her daughter alone with him and that at least one of her sons had to be present when she had to be away from her.

I Don’t Understand The Panic On Rumours That I Can Join The UPND, Says Lusambo

0

I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE PANIC ON RUMOURS THAT I CAN JOIN THE UPND, SAYS LUSAMBO
I am now at peace after apologising to His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema, I was being misled by a few people in our party, says Bowman Lusambo

And Lusambo says he doesn’t understand why people panic on rumours linking him to joining the ruling UPND party.

Addressing party members over the weekend, the PF strongman popularly known as Bulldozer said his life has now been completely transformed after the apology to President Hakainde Hichilema.

“My children and my family are all happy now. I feel a sense of fresh air around me. I was almost repeating my mistake of anger and bitterness after we lost elections in 2011. Remember that time after losing power to the PF in 2011, I became the MMD diehard and that brought me lots of problems with the system. There are those cowards who will always be telling you to continue fighting because you are courageous, but unknown to you, those are just cowards who can’t stand up to the system. I almost fell in the same trap after some people kept encouraging me to be hard on HH, yet they could not face him. Now I am facing all these problems and legal bills alone,” lamented Lusambo.

And Lusambo wondered why people were panicking on rumours that he was about to defect to the UPND.

“Look here. Me I am a politician and we politicians are nomadic, I came from MMD and joined the PF. Would it be strange if today I joined the UPND? As a matter of fact, I have lots of friends in the UPND, but I am not saying that I am joining UPND now, but if it ever happened, that should not be strange and there are more people like that who I know want to join the ruling UPND party. Even those very senior opposition leaders you see heavily criticising President Hakainde Hichilema during the day are busy meeting with the UPND officials at night. In fact, as a politician, I can tell you now that any politician is looking forward to meeting President HH now,” Lusambo said.

Now former ECZ chairperson judge Esau Chulu reported to Itezhi-tezhi police ati for announcing results for a ‘Chitulika constituency’ in the 2016 elections.

ZANIS—-A concerned Itezhi Tezhi resident has reported former Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson Esau Chulu to Itezhi Tezhi police station for allegedly announcing results of a constituency that does not exist during the 2016 General of Election.
Justine Mutti said that as a complainant, he wants the police to arrest the former ECZ Chairperson for announcing results from Chitulika constituency in Mpika district in Muchinga province which he claims does not exist.

“We came here to report the former high court Judge and former ECZ Chairperson Esau Chulu for announcing results from Chitulika constituency that does not exist” Mr. Mutti said

Mr. Muti further said that the system of citizens reporting cases in different districts was not knew adding that in 2016 he was reported by a concerned citizen in Lusaka and was accordingly transported to Lusaka where he was detained.

Meanwhile Itezhi Tezhi United Party for National Development (UPND) Chairperson Hardwork Kang’ongwe said that UPND party was aggrieved in 2016 when ECZ Chairperson announced Chitulika constituency which he claims does not exist in Zambia.

“Justice should take its course in this matter. People from ECZ should learn a lesson that whatever they are doing when they are in government, if you mess up it will follow you” Mr. Kang’ongwe said.

The complaint against the former ECZ chairperson comes barely few days after government announced that they were not going to renew the contracts for the ECZ Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.

Revealed: Dr. Greg Mills advises on economic policy and only deals directly with Presidents- WikiLeaks

0

The Brenthurst Foundation, a Johannesburg-based think tank funded by the Oppenheimer family will only work directly with the Office of the Presidency, according to leaked 2007 WikiLeaks cable.

According to the cable, Brenthurst provides the service, free of charge, to African governments on three conditions: the Foundation will only work directly with the Office of the Presidency, it will only provide policy advice where invited by the President of the country; and, it prefers to work in countries where the Oppenheimers do not have direct business interests.

Brenthurst is largely the initiative of Jonathan Oppenheimer, son of Nicky Oppenheimer, who wants to influence the debate on Africa’s economic future and Dr. Greg Mills has served as director of the Brenthurst Foundation since March 2005.

At the time of the report, The Brenthurst Foundation was providing “confidential” policy advice to the Governments of Liberia, Rwanda, Lesotho, and Mozambique.

Dr Mills told Political Officer and visiting S/P Advisor on October 1 that Brenthurst focuses on advising African governments on economic policy, not political issues.

Dr. Mills is the point person on the initiative, although he draws on the resources of outside consultants for particular country projects.

Dr. Mills noted that the term “Foundation” is misleading since Brenthurst provides little grant money adding that it is primarily a think tank, focused on policy.

According to WikiLeaks, Rwanda is one of Brenthurst’s most active programs and he planned to spend four months in Kigali in early 2008 working directly with President Kagame on economic policy.

It reported that he in regular and direct contact with President Kagame and was helping draft his speeches, including President Kagame’s speech to the Conservative Party conference in the U.K.

In addition to the policy work, Brenthurst also facilitates dialogues on Africa policy issues, often through Conferences at Tswalu Game Reserve, also owned by the
Oppenheimer family.

Brenthurst works most closely with the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) for Defence and Security Studies.

Asked why the Oppenheimer family is devoting so many resources to this initiative, Dr. Mills said that each generation of Oppenheimers wants to make their mark.

“It is motivated by humanitarian or ideological objectives, not financial,” Dr. Mills said.

Dr. Mills formerly headed the South African Institute for International Affairs
(SAIIA) at the University of Witswatersrand, the preeminent Foreign policy think tank in South Africa.

Dr. Mills received his BA from the University of Cape Town, and his Masters and PhD from the University of Lancaster.

According to WikiLeaks, the US government believes Dr. Mills would be open to U.S. Government-provided materials — or even discreet, informal advice — on the economic and political challenges facing the countries in which Brenthurst is actively working. – Lusaka Times

ACC takes interest in Muhanga’s cancellation of hunting licences

0

By Ernest Chanda

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says it has taken keen interest in the matter where tourism permanent secretary Evans Muhanga has cancelled safari hunting concessions signed in 2020.

About two weeks ago, PF member Emmanuel Mwamba also submitted a complaint to the Commission over the matter.
Responding to a press query from The Mast, ACC spokesperson Queen Chibwe said the public would be informed of the next action.
‘’I wish to acknowledge receipt of your press query in which you wanted to find out whether the Commission has taken a keen interest regarding the alleged cancellation of safari hunting concession of 19 hunting blocks by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Mr. Evans Muhanga,’’ said Chibwe in her response dated June 10, 2022. ‘’I wish to inform you that the Commission has received a complaint of alleged cancellation of safari hunting concessions and has taken keen interest in the matter. The public will be informed of the next cause of action. I wish to thank you for making an inquiry on these matters.’’

In April this year, Muhanga cancelled safari hunting concession agreements signed in 2020, against the advice of Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha, as the hunting season opened on May 1.

Instead, he ordered a readvertisement of the same in his memorandum to director of national parks and wildlife in the Ministry of Tourism Dr Chuma Simukonda dated April 22, 2022.

And on May 13, 2022, Muhanga terminated the contract for Dr Simukonda who is believed to have advised him against ignoring legal advice from the Attorney General.

According to the Attorney General’s advice in a letter dated January 5, 2022 addressed to President Hakainde Hichilema on tender No. MTA/SP/001/2020, there was nothing illegal about the tender and that cancelling it would attract law suits against the government.
“Your Excellency, I find it pertinent to make an appointment with you and explain the legal implications relating to the subject matter. Your Excellency, prior to meeting you [I] wish to bring it to your attention through this letter that I received a letter from the Ministry of Tourism and Arts reference No. MTA/54/14/2 dated 15th December, 2021 in which the Ministry was seeking a legal opinion on the cancellation of Hunting Concession Agreements (hereinafter referred to as ‘HCAs’,” Kabesha wrote. “The circumstances that engendered the opinion is attributed to your directive to the Minister and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism to the effect that the execution of the HCAs must be halted and that the negotiated HCAs must be cancelled.”
He cited formalities which prescribe a genuine hunting concession agreement and advised that once they are met then the tender remains legal.

Citing case law, Kabesha advised against cancelling the agreements as that would attract legal suits on government and subsequent loss of income through compensations to the affected parties.

“Your Excellency, once all these formalities are met, the contract or contracts come into being. According to the Procuring Entity all these procedures were met which resulted in the HCAs being approved,” explained Kabesha. “In the case of National Drug Company Limited and Zambia Privatisation Agency v Mary Katongo, the Supreme Court held that: ‘It is trite law that once the parties have voluntarily and freely entered into a legal contract, they become bound to abide by the terms of the contract and that the role of the court is to give efficacy to the contract when one party has breached it by respecting, upholding and enforcing the contract.’ In view of the cited case and in the absence of cogent evidence of infringement of section 69 (1), it becomes legally unsustainable to terminate the HCAs. Any attempt to effect will undoubtedly lead to law suits against Government which is striving to resuscitate the economy of the country and at the same time creating an enabling environment for investment and respect of the law. I humbly render my advice.”
Specifically, the affected hunting concession agreements include the following:

Musungwa and Shezongo Community Resources Board and JVZ Safaris Limited, relating to safari hunting rights in Nkala Hunting Block in Nkala game management area.

Nabwalya Community Resources Board and Kuwama Safaris Limited, relating to Safari hunting rights in Nabwalya Hunting Block in Nabwalya Game Management Area.

Malama and Kakumbi Community Resources Board and Kwalata Safaris Limited, relating to safari hunting rights in Lower Lupande Hunting Block in Lupande Game Management Area.
Chikwa Community Resources Board and Mopani Safaris Limited, relating to safari hunting rights in Chikwa Hunting Block in East Musalangu Game Management Area.

Mulendema Community Resources Board, Chibuluma Community Resources Board, Kabulwebulwe Community Resource Boards and Nedzo Safaris Limited relating to safari hunting rights in Mumbwa West Hunting Block in Mumbwa West Game Management Area.
Chifunda Community Resources Board and Kocango Safaris Limited relating to safari hunting rights in Chifunda Hunting Block in East Musalangu Game Management Area.

Several stakeholders, including good governance activist Brebner Changala, Socialist Party president Fred M’membe, acting PF president Given Lubinda, and State Counsel Sakwiba Sikota, have advised Muhanga against the cancellation, warning that government would pay heavily when bidders sue.

And on May 4, 2022, Muhanga wrote a letter officially informing all the bidders about the cancellation.

Give Chiluba property to his family – Robert Mwanza

0

Put a human face to the issue of the property belonging to the late second Republican President Dr. Frederick Chiluba which was forfeited to the state and give back to his children because he was acquitted of wrong doing, Citizen Democratic Party leader, Robert Mwanza has said.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) last December forfeited the property of Dr Chiluba to the state valued at over K40 million because the late President didn’t make any claims for the property when investigations were proceeding and at the time the seizure notice was issued.

Mr. Mwanza however said the ACC should avail adequate information on why they forfeited the property to the state because the statement that time elapsed in which Dr. Chiluba was supposed to claim his property was not reason enough for their action.

He said in an interview that it was unfair for the ACC to subject the children of Dr. Chiluba to suffering that he went through when his immunity was stripped and tried by the courts for corruption.

“I think it’s good as a nation that we put a human face to this issue. It’s unfair to pass the suffering of Dr. Chiluba with court cases to his children,” he said.

Mr. Mwanza said if there were legal lapses that led to Dr Chiluba failing to meet the time frame to claim his property, it should be corrected.

In 2002, the ACC instituted investigations into suspected corruption in the manner Tedworth Properties Incorporation Limited, a company incorporated in Panama, acquired properties in Zambia.

The property acquired by Tedworth Properties are Plot No. 4828, Alberg Court, located along Addis Ababa Drive, Longacres, Lusaka which also comprises 21 residential flats.

Others are Plot No. F/488a/26/C, Horizon House, located along Leopards Hill Road, in Kabulonga, Plot No. F/488a/26/D, Chibote House, located along Leopards Hill Road, in Kabulonga in Lusaka.

“On 30th September 2010, the High Court ruled in favour of Tedworth Properties Incorporated but the Commission appealed the judgment of the High Court but the Supreme Court overturned the judgement.

On December 29, 2016 the Supreme Court awarded with costs to the State. – Daily Nation

Press Statement By The Chief Govt Spokesperson Decisions Made By Cabinet At The 12th Cabinet Meeting

0

PRESS STATEMENT BY THE CHIEF GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON DECISIONS MADE BY CABINET AT THE 12TH CABINET MEETING IN THE YEAR 2022, HELD ON MONDAY, 13TH JUNE, 2022

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema called for the 12th Cabinet Meeting in the Year 2022, held on Monday, 12th June, to discuss policy and legislative issues aimed at facilitating the general development of the country. The following are the issues discussed:

1. Private Security Companies Regulation Bill, 2022.

Cabinet approved in principle, the introduction of a Bill in Parliament for the regulation of private security companies in Zambia in order to monitor the companies’ activities and enhance accountability.

The private security sector in Zambia has grown with companies offering a variety of services with different structures and mandates. Currently, they are registered by the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) as provided for in the Companies Act Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia.

Cabinet, has, therefore, realised the need to introduce legislation to regulate the activities of the private security companies in the country.

2. The Forests (Amendment) Bill, 2022.

Cabinet also approved in principle, the introduction of a Bill in Parliament to amend the Forests Act No. 4 of 2015, in order to provide for stiffer penalties, strengthen enforcement mechanisms and establish procedures for the gazeting, excision and bring the law in line with new and emerging issues such as Forest Carbon Stock Management.

Cabinet is of the view that the current Forests Act of 2015 is weak regarding penalties against offenders. This scenario, therefore, has continued to pose enforcement challenges and perpetuates illegal activities in the forests with an observed increase in repeat offenders.

It is also time for Government to protect its forest natural resources especially for selected high value endangered tree species such as Mukula, Rosewood, Teak and Mukwa so that the citizens benefit from such, through value addition going forward.

3. The Non-Governmental Organization (Repeal and Replacement) Bill, 2022.

The third legislative issue Cabinet approved in principle is the introduction of the Bill in Parliament to repeal and replace the Non-Governmental Organisations Act No 16 of 2009 in order to strengthen the current legal framework by providing for the registration, coordination and regulation of the Non-Governmental Organizations in line with the National Non-Governmental Organizations Policy that was approved by Cabinet on 9th April, 2018.

Cabinet noted that Non-Governmental Organisations play a pivotal role in contributing to national development by complementing Government’s efforts in service delivery and also through advocacy, capacity building activities and checks and balances to Government. Therefore, the need for the creation of a conducive environment for active participation of NGOs in national development through putting in place appropriate legislation is the best way for both Government and the Non-Governmental Organisations.

4. Appointments to the Zambia Law Development Commission.

During the same Meeting Cabinet approved the appointment of a thirteen (13) member team of the Zambia Law Development Commission in accordance with the Zambia Law Development Commission Act Chapter 32 of the Laws of Zambia as amended by Act No. 4 of 2019 and Act No. 17 of 2021.

Currently, there are no members of the Commission in place since the tenure of the previous office holders expired in June, 2021. The appointment of the members will ensure effective discharge of the mandate of the Zambia Law Development Commission.

5. Implementation of the Cash Plus Approach.

In winding up deliberations for the day, Cabinet approved the implementation of the Cash Plus Approach in order to enhance the efficacy of social protection programmes and offer the ultra-poor and vulnerable in the country, an opportunity to be lifted out of poverty.

Cash Plus is an approach to Social Protection that provides regular cash transfers with other social assistance programmes, social insurance, social security and livelihoods and empowerment interventions.

Cabinet has indicated that Cash provision alone to the targeted beneficiaries country-wide only provides a safety net to prevent absolute destitution, however, with the implementation of the Cash Plus, this will increase income and diversity in production for poor and vulnerable households which will enhance their graduation from abject poverty.

Pope Francis suggests war in Ukraine was ‘perhaps in some way provoked’ but denies being ‘pro-Putin’

0

Pope Francis has suggested Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was ‘provoked’ in a transcript of a conversation he had last month.

The leader of the Catholic Church denied being ‘pro-Putin,’ saying Russian troops were brutal, cruel, and ferocious while praising the bravery of Ukrainian troops who have been fighting for their country’s survival since the invasion began in February.

But in the text of a conversation he had last month with editors of Jesuit media and published on Tuesday June 14, he also said the situation was not black and white and that the war was ‘perhaps in some way provoked’.

While condemning ‘the ferocity, the cruelty of Russian troops, we must not forget the real problems if we want them to be solved,’ Francis said, including the armaments industry among the factors that provide incentives for war.

‘It is also true that the Russians thought it would all be over in a week. But they miscalculated. They encountered a brave people, a people who are struggling to survive and who have a history of struggle,’ he said in the transcript of the conversation, published by the Jesuit journal Civilta Cattolica.

‘This is what moves us: to see such heroism. I would really like to emphasize this point, the heroism of the Ukrainian people. What is before our eyes is a situation of world war, global interests, arms sales and geopolitical appropriation, which is martyring a heroic people,’ he said.

Francis said that several months before President Vladimir Putin sent his forces into Ukraine, the pontiff had met with a head of state who expressed concern that NATO was ‘barking at the gates of Russia’ in a way that could lead to war.

Francis then said in his own words: ‘We do not see the whole drama unfolding behind this war, which was perhaps somehow either provoked or not prevented’.

Asking himself rhetorically if that made him ‘pro-Putin,’ he said: ‘No, I am not. It would be simplistic and wrong to say such a thing.’ He added: ‘I am simply opposed to reducing complexity to distinction between good and bad’.

Russia calls its actions in Ukraine a ‘special operation’ to disarm Ukraine and protect it from fascists, a characterisation previously criticised by Francis.

Ukraine and the West say the fascist allegation is baseless and that the war is an unprovoked act of aggression.

In his comments, Francis also noted Russia’s ‘monstrous’ use of Chechen and Syrian mercenaries in Ukraine.

Francis said he hoped to meet Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill at an inter-religious event in Kazakhstan in September.

President HH Should Apologize To The Zambians If He Thinks His Promises Are Not Achievable- Kabimba

UPND IS LIVING IN DENIAL – KABIMBA

… says President Hichilema should apologize to the Zambians if he thinks his promises are not achievable than shifting the blame on critics.

Lusaka … Tuesday, June,14, 2022 [Smart Eagles]

Economic Front President Wynter Kabimba says it is hypocritical for UPND sympathizers to call names those calling for the fulfillment of campaign promises.

Speaking when he featured on Hot FM’s ‘Red Hot’ breakfast show in Lusaka, Mr. Kabimba said no body is being unfair on President Hichilema for asking him to stick to his promises he made prior to the August 12, 2021 General elections.

He said Zambians voted for the UPND and President Hichilema based on their campaign promises.

The Economic Front leader said President Hichilema fixed a period in which to fulfill his campaign promises.

” No body is been unfair on UPND and President Hichilema. It is them that promised. The UPND should not be bitter and call those holding them accountable names. Its time for them to explain to the people the delay on fulfilling promises, people voted for them on the premise of their promises,” Mr. Kabimba said.

” HH said ‘wait and watch what will happen. The day we are sworn in, if we are sworn in at 10hrs by 14hrs the Kwacha will appreciate to K10 to a dollar’, his own words. He fixed a period to deliver on the promises. If he thinks it is not achievable let him go to the Zambian people and apologize than apportioning blame to those raising the red flag,” he said

And Mr. Kabimba said Zambians are expecting to see results in the fight against corruption.

” We want to see results in the fight against corruption. Those that stole must be convicted. We need to go beyond allegations.President Hichilema should leave the job to investigative wings of Government. He is personalizing the fight against corruption and not giving room for investigation wings to do their job. Stop accusing judges of being PF when you lose judgments.” Mr. Kabimba said.

HERE IS A CHALLENGE TO THOSE SAYING HH AND THE UPND HAVE DONE NOTHING

HERE IS A CHALLENGE TO THOSE SAYING HH AND THE UPND HAVE DONE NOTHING

We have noted some sentiments from the opposition PF leaders and their surrogates alleging that President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government have done nothing so far.

With the freedom of movement and free speech and environment President Hakainde Hichilema has brought in so far, here is the challenge.

1. Go out to the poor rural communities and tell those orphans, and other vulnerable children to stop going to schools under the free education policy because, according to the opposition, this policy has failed. Go and tell the kids to go back into the streets.

2. Go and tell the poor university students who are recipients of increased bursary allocation to stop their education because government has failed.

3. Go and tell the poor communities who are recipients of increased allocation towards Social Cash Transfer to stop getting the money because government has failed.

4. Go and tell the bus drivers, marketeers and other people operating in public places that PF thugs should go back in these places and start what they were doing such as hacking citizens, because the UPND government has failed.

5. Go and tell the citizens in all Constituencies that the increased CDF should be brought back to Lusaka instead of the communities because government has failed.

6. Go and convince media houses that they were better off operating under the previous PF regime where they were being closed and harassed, but now the UPND government is worse off than PF.

8. Go and tell the farmers that they were better off under the previous PF regime getting three pockets of fertiliser than now when allocation has increased.

9. Go and tell any economist that the runaway inflation, unstable exchange rates and other economic variables were better off under the previous regime than now.

10. Go and tell citizens that the Zambia Police service and other law enforcement agencies were more professional under the PF regime, detaining citizens for days, weeks, months, in police custody without police bonds.

Go and tell the people these messages then come back and tell us how citizens would react to you.

Do regional appointments or firings benefit or Disadvantaged people of region?

0

By Isaac Mwanza

A lot has been said about appointments by Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and his administration. The latest being bold sentiments by Dr. Fred M’membe, certainly, one of my favourite politicians of our time, are beginning to silently being believed by average Zambians. But here is my take:

If President Hichilema replaced some head of an institution who hailed from Eastern Province with another one who hails from either Southern or Western Province, how is the firing negatively affecting the entire people of Eastern Province or how is the new appointment benefiting the people of Southern Province as a whole?

Was the replaced person with an Eastern surname sharing his emoluments or benefits or whatsoever with my fellow kinsmen in Eastern Province or will the new person with a Southern or Western surname now be sharing his proceeds with people from the Province he hails from?

Of course, we all must be resolved to never endorse regional or tribal appointments but we equally not pity the entire province against the one person who has been removed nor create a narrative that the newly appointed guy from the other province will now become a blessing to one entire Province. If that was the case, Luapula, Northern, Central and Eastern Provinces would have been the most developed provinces in Zambia?

I don’t see how, having a President who is Bemba or Easterner benefited the entire Bemba speaking province(s) or Eastern as a whole. If anything, Southern Province is one of the most developed provinces in Zambia aside of Lusaka and Copperbelt despite it not having had a President for over half a century after Independence.

All past Presidents in Zambia, including the saintly, Levy Mwanawasa had appointed his kinsmen (including sons, brothers and sisters) or had his lieutenants appointment them to positions of responsibility.

Hakainde Hichilema is not a god to do what others had not humanly done before him. The plain truth is this: things have remained the same as they were before, for our people in our provinces and for those in other provinces.

Many of our ordinary people had no easy ticket to enjoy privileged appointments. Individuals were appointed them and individuals are being appointed now. We must end the false narrative that individuals who were appointed by previous regimes were done on regional basis than they are being done now.

Everyone must know by now that President Hichilema has pressure to reward those who worked him – even those who come from his village and remained loyal to him. President Hichilema is not doing anything different from what all other President did before him. Hakainde Hichilema is into politics and not church.

At least, I have never worked in any government at a time when i was close to President Rupiah Banda or Edgar Lungu. I had a chance to ask for such a favour to join governments and am sure they would have created a position as the current regime has done to many political appointees in government. But Presidents have a country to run and they must choose whom they want to work with to make a difference.

However, the buck stops on President Hichilema personally and his administration to listen and not loosely discard views that may soon take root in the nation about his appointments. He must assess whether they are a break from what past regimes had done. If he thinks the pattern is okay or wrong, well he is the Republican President.

Current Low Inflation Is As A Result Of Low Spending As There Is No Money In Circulation

CURRENT LOW INFLATION IS AS A RESULT OF LOW SPENDING AS THERE IS NO MONEY IN CIRCULATION

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ZAMBIAN ECONOMY, READ QUESTION AND ANSWER BELOW

Malcolm Jhala asked the following question:

I’m trying to wrap my head around this contractionary fiscal policy we have embarked on as a country.

With cuts in government spending, slow down in government debt contraction, relatively high interest and tax rates; the visible consequences are the diminishing of purchasing power of households, lower inflation, stable kwacha, and a slowing economy.

How long is Goverment going to sustain such fiscal policy before we go bust?

Is the IMF deal and subsequent debt restructuring going to the the trigger for Government to move into an expansionary fiscal policy?

Something has to give!!!

Those with BA Econ from YUNZA, help us out here…how long to we have to hang on?

Temwani Nyondo answered below:

OMO – open money operations are ideally a short term measure. We have what is called a supply induced inflation problem at the moment I.e production factors are becoming more costly and this is eventually being passed on to the end user (consumer) via higher prices of goods.

One production factor- labour – however is not often addressed well enough, that’s to say, our salaries don’t get increased in line with other production factors (God knows why). Because our salaries aren’t increased, the cost of living becomes unsustainable ultimately and government/central bank has to react one way or another.

By increasing interest rates, the central bank takes liquidity out of the market and reduces the rate at which prices of goods and services rise, because there’s generally less spending happening. This is a short term effect that gives consumers a breather. You’re absolutely correct to say it would contradict governments plan to grow the economy, however economic growth and contraction are slower to react to OMO (open market operations) movements than things like inflation are.

The government, in the time lag (or in the interim) can pursue other measures to encourage economic expansion programs, I.e policies to boost investor confidence and lower the exchange rate ( mining indaba, IMF negotiations, public private corporation, tax incentives for targeted sectors).

These measures described above are part of the supply side policies that address the need for GDP growth in the long run. The MPR (monetary policy rate or interest rate from BOZ) will continue to be a reactionary measure to cross hurdles as the government pursues its ulterior motives or (growth plans).

HOW THEY SET UP CHAKULYA!

TIMELINE : [1983] DEFENCE MINISTER’S WIFE CAUGHT SMUGGLING DRUGS INTO THE UK – FIRED

The wife of Zambian Defence Minister Wilson Mofya Chakulya, Mrs. Susan Chakulya was arrested in the United Kingdom on a drugs charge and produced at Dudley Crown Court.

Mrs. Chakulya was arrested for smuggling 65 pounds (29kg) of marijuana into Britain. Chakulya, who ironically had been Minister of Foreign Affairs before assuming the Defence portfolio, was also a senior member of then President Kenneth Kaunda’s United National Independence Party (UNIP)’s central committee.

He was sacked by Dr. Kaunda after his wife stood trial at Dudley Crown Court, on 9th July 1984 along with two Britons and another Zambian, Doreen Chishimba.

Mr. Chakulya was a real force and influential player in liberation and post independence politics in Zambia. It is a wonder that he is not mentioned in the same breath as names that easily come up when discussing Zambian politics. In 1959 as a member of the Zambia African Congress (ZANC) he was convicted on a charge of sedition and sentenced to sixteen months imprisonment with hard labour.

As a unionist, Chakulya was as influential and stands amongst the great names such as Lawrence Katilungu, Matthew Nkoloma, Basil Kabwe and others. He was General Secretary of the Northern Rhodesia Trade Union Congress [1956-1964] and General Secretary of the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions [1967-1971]. A staunch supporter of Dr. Kaunda and having served in other important portfolio’s including being the first African to be Managing Director at Nchanga Consolidated Mines [himself an ardent advocate for Zambianisation], Labour Minister and High Commissioner to Canada, it was a real scandal for him and the Zambian government after his wife was arrested.

He was appointed Defence minister in December 1980 after a turbulent year in the security of the country and re-organisation of the security apparatus by Dr. Kaunda. It was a few months after in September 1980 then chairman of the ZCTU Fredrick Chiluba was threatening nationwide strikes, an attempted coup was reported to have been foiled with a shootout at a farm house in Chilanga on 15th October 1980 and alleged coup plotters detained.

A dusk to dawn curfew was imposed on the eve of the 16th anniversary of independence on 23rd October 1980 as a result of the security situation. On 27th October 1980 Dr. Kaunda accused South Africa of being behind a coup plot and on 7th November 1980 announced that all was under control and those behind the coup plot involving Zairean (Congolese) mercenaries sponsored by South Africa’s apartheid regime had been detained. Among those arrested were prominent lawyer Edward Shamwana, former Bank of Zambia Governor Valentine Musakanya, former Diplomat and banker Elias Chipimo (Sr.), top civil servant Patrick Chisanga, newly sworn-in Airforce Commander Major-General Kabwe and two air officers, Godwin Yoram Mumba, Anderson Kabwili Mporokoso, Thomas Mpanga Mulewa and Zairean nationals Deogratis Symba, Albert Chimbalile and Laurent Kanyembu.

Subsequent arrests included absconding military man Godfrey Miyanda [Now retired Brigadier General] on May 22, 1981, who was on the run and taken into custody in Zaire by the Zambian security officers and immediately flown to Lusaka, Zambia, where he was then served with Presidential detention order, pursuant to Regulation 33 (1) of the Preservation of Public Security Regulations, and was, in terms of Article 27 (1) (a) of the Republican Constitution.

Others whose passports were seized and more or less put under house arrest were former Foreign Affairs minister Vernon Johnson Mwaanga.

The environment in which Wilson Chakulya became Defence minister was one of tension and unease by the presidency of Dr. Kaunda. Chakulya’s hardline stance on many things including his dislike of foreign domination made him a strong candidate for the position. This was a crucial time as the treason cases went on in the Courts in Zambia resulting in death sentences for the accused. It was also a time Zambia was still home to a number of liberation movements and the nerve centre of the Frontline States.

The changes made by Dr. Kaunda were not only at cabinet level but also at state house where Mr. Mark Chona who was Special Assistant to President Kaunda for Political Affairs was replaced by Mr. Wilted Phiri who was pulled from Home Affairs [a demotion] to be his replacement and former Attorney-General and minister of Legal Affairs Frederick Chomba to take his place as Home minister.

Chakulya had in 1979 as Foreign minister famously labelled former British Foreign Secretary Lord Carrington as an ‘Arch-fascist’ for what he saw as his role in installing Bishop Muzorewa as the black face of racist Rhodesia and sidelining the Patriotic Front of Nkomo and Mugabe. This was at the height of poor relations with Britain and angry anti-British demonstrations outside the British High Commission in Lusaka by UNIP cadres and days after Dr. Kaunda declared Zambia in a ‘state of war’ with reservists called up for duty.

The Zambian government held the British responsible for Rhodesian bombings of three bridges including the main bridge on the TAZARA railway, key to imports and exports through Tanzania. The Rhodesians also bombed six Zimbabwe African People’s Union – Patriotic Front [ZAPU-PF] camps in the country. this was after enduring the bombing of Joshua Nkomo’s residence and raiding a ZIPRA safe house in Lusaka’s Roma township.

The arrest and conviction of Mrs. Chakulya was a real comfort for the British who had come to dislike Chakulya and as a British diplomat and High Commissioner to Zambia [1978-1980] Sir Walter Leonard Allinson recounted in an interview with Jane Barder in 1996, “….., in Zambia, I was treated with the utmost suspicion and mistrust and it was very hard to have a really good working relationship based on mutual respect with many of the Zambian officials and ministers. In fact one or two ministers were positively weird.”

“It was really very difficult in Lusaka. One day the Rhodesian aircraft came in the morning and caught a whole Zambian battalion of Nkomo’s men on parade just outside Lusaka and bombed them, causing tremendous casualties, hundreds of casualties. It was a 900 man battalion, caught in the open.”

“The Zambians brought the bodies and injured back through town and Lusaka’s a small town, through the main streets to the hospital (which incidentally was only able to treat them because I had arranged for some medical supplies to come only the week before) and the ordinary Zambian in the streets saw these corpses and bleeding bodies trailing blood being driven through the streets and there was a briefly very bad attitude towards all white people in town. Some people got chased and scragged and I and the papal nuncio and I think the Swedish ambassador, on behalf of the diplomatic corps went to see the Minister of Foreign Affairs to demand that the Zambians protected foreign nationals, which in fact they did.”

PF COMPROMISED THE CIVIL SERVICE BY EMPLOYING THEIR CADRES

PF COMPROMISED THE CIVIL SERVICE BY EMPLOYING THEIR CADRES

The Scoop Editorial: June 13, 2022

ZAMBIA today has a fragile, unpatriotic civil service all because of the Patriotic Front (PF) way of doing things. Since independence, at no time in our history did we have a civil service so driven by cadres as seen under the PF misrule.

Tiptoe into the past before PF came on the scene, you will see what it meant to have a professional, unadulterated, and uncompromising civil service. Government and quasi-Government institutions were run by professionals. In the past, there was integrity in the civil service. But it was after PF came into power that we saw a total disaster. The civil service simply degenerated into an animal farm led by a cluster of cadres most of which were not even suited for the positions they held.

So, when we see seemingly intelligent individuals crying foul over the non-renewal of contracts or dismissal of these same elements that held these senior positions on partisan lines, we realise how unread most Zambians are, including some misguided charlatans in the opposition who have no clue where the current problem is stemming from.

Here are facts which some people have ignored and we challenge those who are crying the loudest and accusing the appointing authority of being vindictive, to explain to the people of Zambia what they would have done if they were in power:

The PF appointed everyone on party lines. You could be educated from any university under the sun but under the PF regime, you would never be given any senior position anywhere as long as you are not a bonafide PF member. For you to pass the first litmus test and get a job under the PF, you needed to be a bonafide PF member first regardless of how qualified you were for any position.

For those of you who are making noise blindly in the name of opposition over this matter, have you read the PF constitution in totality? Have you understood it clearly? Have you taken time to analyse the correlation between their constitutional provision on this matter and how appointments to senior positions were done?

Let us break it down for you; Article 3 of the PF constitution under the heading “Public Institutions” clearly states that the party shall ensure that all the public institutions, state-owned enterprises, and popular mass, and similar organizations are led by persons who are members of the party and who are uncompromisingly committed to achievements of the party.

This means that for you to be Zesco Managing Director, first, you must be a PF stooge before they even look at your qualifications; for you to be Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General; you needed to trace your footprints from the PF; If you were to be appointed to any board, at least you or your grandfather should have been PF or else, your qualifications would continue yawning in the baking sun or be used to wrap vitumbuwa at the nearest market.

This is the reason when Michael Sata became president in 2011, he fired nearly everyone in senior or strategic positions serve for those who were staunch PF members. Why? Because the party constitution provides that appointments are a preserve for party cadres.

The dismissal broom swept across the civil service in such a barbaric manner never see before and the same chaps who are ranting about the non-renewal of some people’s contracts in Government today, never said anything then, just because it served them right.

This is the reason we saw District Commissioners (DCs), District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS) Permanent Secretaries (PSs), Directors, board members, etc all over campaigning for the PF during elections because they were PF cadres and stooges and they had to do it for the sake of the party or else they risked being booted out.

This is why PF cadres had no respect for civil servants and would pounce on anyone they felt was not benefiting the party in any way. They could make orders to directors and their instructions would be carried out religiously without question. This is why theft and corruption under the PF especially in their last five years in power became rampant because it was a prescription by the party which was executed by their foot soldiers in Government.

This is why up to now, the PF are still bragging that they are still running Government because they know that the people they left to run the civil service were all cadres and still pledge their allegiance to the party.

For this country to return to days when we had a professional civil service, there is need to get rid of all PF cadres, some of which are not even qualified for the jobs they hold so that qualified and uncompromised people can take over. The civil service is about service delivery and the line between service delivery and economic sabotage is very thin such that if you are not careful, the very people entrusted with public responsibility can mess you up.

We have no problem with the opposition providing checks and balances to those in power but the pettiness with which some of these so-called opposition politicians debate issues is so off the tangent that it is difficult to make sense out of most the things they make noise over.

Given an opportunity to lead this country, these same complainants would probably do it even worse than the way Government is doing it in trying to restore sanity to the civil service. After all, who would entrust responsibility in a well-known cadre supporting the opposition?

Yes, let the rightful people, fit to drive the New Dawn Government’s agenda, be appointed to these positions because Zambians who gave the UPND the chance to lead this country are yearning for development and this agenda cannot be driven by those who were appointed on political patronage by the former ruling party

AFRICOM Office of Security Cooperation is not a US military base-DefenceWeb

0

DefenceWeb, a respected military and defence publication has stated that recently created United States’ Office of Security Cooperation in Zambia is not to be confused with a US military base.

Recently, leader of the opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile, asked Vice President Mutale Nalumango, a question during the Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament, about the relevance of American security and Zambia.

He asked: “There have been no consultations between Zambia and SADC member states on Africom [Africa Command] and other members have rejected it. To allow it to be set up in here casts Zambia in a bad light. Shouldn’t Zambia rethink this decision?”

The Vice President in May said in Parliament that, “The office being created is an office of security cooperation that will be located at the USA Embassy. This office will work with the Zambia security services. Zambia has no intention of hosting any military base on Zambian soil.”

The MP is not the first to publicly question Zambia-US security ties.

Indeed, African adversarial critics, Southern African media reports, and African analysts have raised alarm bells following the US Africa Command public affairs office publishing confirmation of the April 25th opening of an Office of Security Cooperation at the US Embassy in Zambia.

An Office of Security Cooperation is not a US military base.

The Office of Security Cooperation plans and manages US security assistance programmes, facilitates the transfer of requested defence materials, training, and services to partner nations, and promotes military-to-military engagements, defenceWeb has learned.

Security assistance is a core US foreign policy activity jointly developed, funded, and implemented by US Department of State and the US Department of Defence.

In Zambia, the United States provides pre-deployment training assistance for Zambia’s deployment to the UN peacekeeping operation in the Central African Republic as well as institutional capacity staff development and facilities enhancements for Zambia’s peacekeeping training centre at Nanking.

It is understood, from a State Department spokesperson with direct knowledge of the command’s programme, that the US also provides international military education and training (IMET) to professionalize Zambia’s military forces.

The Department of Defence HIV/AIDS (DHAPP) programme provides $12 million annually to support Zambian security forces with technical assistance and mentoring to prevent, manage, and treat HIV and AIDS.

In Africa, many US Embassies have either an Office of Security Cooperation or Defence Attaché Office which oversee security assistance programmes, defenceWeb has learned.

The recently created office in Lusaka is not unique.

The United States says it works with partner countries to counter transnational threats and malign actors, strengthen security forces, and respond to crises to promote regional security, stability, and prosperity.

The US-Zambia security partnership will help advance stability in the southern Africa region, a State Department spokesperson said.

US Africa Command is keen to emphasise its partnership strategy and help states like Zambia to strengthen security forces and respond to crises to promote regional security, stability, and prosperity.

US Africa Command emphasizes that it focuses, “on the development of professional militaries which are disciplined, capable, and responsible to civilian authorities and committed to the well-being of their citizens and protecting human rights.”

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander pleads not guilty to felony stalking and battery charges after crashing her wedding

0

Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Jason Alexander, has pleaded not guilty to four charges after he was accused of trying to gatecrash the pop idol’s wedding last week while armed with a knife.

During his arraignment at a court in Ventura, California, on Monday, June 13, Alexander, 40, denied one count of felony stalking, one of battery, one of vandalism, and one of trespassing and refusing to leave Spears’ $7.4 million Thousand Oaks estate where she married longtime fiance Sam Asghari that day.

Britney Spears

At the 15-minute hearing, Ventura County Superior Court Judge Catherine Voelker set bail at $100,000 and ordered Alexander to appear again on Wednesday for ‘pre-trial risk assessment.’

The judge told Alexander – who appeared in court via video hookup from the local jail – that if he managed to raised the $100,000 bail, because of the felony stalking charge, he would not be allowed ‘to contact, annoy, harass,’ Britney and her new husband, and not to come within 100 yards of them for three years.

Spears married Alexander, her childhood friend, in Las Vegas in January 2004. The marriage was annulled 55 hours later with Spears’ lawyers claiming the singer ‘lacked understanding of her action.’

Spears was previously married from 2004 to 2007 to Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons, ages 14 and 15.

She met Asghari in 2016 on the set of the video for her song “Slumber Party.”

Judge Voelker also told him that if he made bail, he would not be allowed to buy or possess any firearms or other dangerous weapons and any he already has would have to be turned in.

Asked by Alexander if he agreed to those bail terms, he said ‘yes.’

Alexander also has an outstanding 2016 arrest warrant in Napa County, Northern California for stealing a $2,000 sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet from a woman who was renting him a room, and later pawning it for $180.

The warrant charges include grand theft and buying or receiving stolen property.

‘How to Murder Your Husband’ author sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of killing her husband for $1.4 million insurance payout

0

Author of the essay “How to Murder Your Husband,” Nancy Crampton-Brophy, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband.

Crampton-Brophy, 71, was convicted in May of second-degree murder in the June 2018 death of her husband, chef Daniel Brophy, who was gunned down at the culinary school where he taught cooking classes.

In court documents, prosecutors said the 63-year-old man had been shot twice — once in the back as he stood at a sink filling ice and water buckets for the students, and then in the chest at close range.

A jury found that she shot her husband of 26 years in 2018 for a $1.5m (£1.2m) life insurance pay-out.

Before her crime, Crampton Brophy had been a self-published author whose works of steamy romance and suspense include novels such as “The Wrong Husband” and “The Wrong Lover”.

Her late husband, Daniel Brophy, was a chef and respected teacher at the Oregon Culinary Institute.

Crampton Brophy made the bizarre assertion at a court in Portland, Oregon, in May when asked about a photo of her driving her car around the time husband had been murdered in the summer four years ago.

She agreed that it looked just like her in the car, but insists she couldn’t remember being there.

She then added: ‘You know what they say, old age isn’t for sissies.

‘I turn 65, I’m starting to lose my eyesight, I’m looking at this thinking “Oh man, I’m starting to lose my mind. How can this have happened and me not remember this” ..

‘Even now, my mind kind of goes blank with the horror of it.’

No other suspects have ever been named or sought by police, and Crampton Brophy is the only person arrested over the crime.

Despite not remembering being in the vicinity at the time, she claims she recalled seeing a mysterious man in a van in the area the same day.

Crampton Brophy said: ‘I am seeing myself sitting at this park, writing.’

‘The reason why this sticks out, it was a parking lot, it looks empty, but there was a white van there,’ she added. ‘But there was some guy that kept walking back and forth, walking back and forth. It was just enough to throw me out of there that I moved.’

When asked by her attorney if it is in fact a real memory, Brophy said it is and she described what she was doing in the car.

‘I have a pad of paper, I’m jotting things down. It’s a pleasant day, I can remember that because it wasn’t raining. It’s shady, I’m sitting here pulling it together. It would be a place I would have felt very comfortable writing, so I’m sure it’s a true memory,’ Brophy said.

No murder weapon was ever found. Crampton Brophy was found to be in possession of a ghost gun kit and a Glock after her husband’s murder, but neither fired the bullets that killed him.

She also denied claims she killed Daniel Brophy for an expensive life insurance policy that paid out $1.4 million following his death.

When recalling her husband’s death Crampton Brophy got emotional, saying she lost a huge part of her life.

‘It’s like you’ve lost an arm. You know?’ Brophy said. ‘Like, you’re just not as good as you were when you’re with him. When you’re with him, you were the best you could be. And now, it’s like yeah, I function, but there’s something missing.’

Brophy said that the couple was in debt and they both began selling Medicare insurance in order to have a steady income and they also agreed to fix their house up in order to sell it as well as taking out a loan against their 401k plan for landscaping, kptv.com reported.

‘Dan knew the credit card debt was going to kill us,’ Brophy said. ‘We could only sustain so much interest. That was really his first concern was let’s get rid of the debt. My first concern was also lets get ready to get the house sold.’

Prosecutors claim that Crampton Brophy was motivated by her husband’s $1.4 million life insurance policy, and played an audio recording to the court of her asking a detective four days later to write a letter specifically exonerating her in her husband’s death so she could collect the life insurance policy.

She claimed the policy was worth $40,000, but investigators said she tried to claim 10 different policies that totaled $1.4 million, as well as a worker’s compensation plan because he was killed on the job.

The court also previously heard how she had bought a ‘ghost gun’ assembly kit online on Christmas Eve 2017, which Brophy himself signed for when it was delivered in January 2018, and his wife was traveling for work.

Unable to put the gun together, Crampton Brophy bought another gun at a Portland gun show in February 2018 and, a month later, began practicing at a gun range.

But in May, Crampton Brophy testified that her fascination with ghost guns grew after reading about them in the New York Times and planned on writing a romance novel about a woman who was scared for her safety, with each chapter introducing a new piece pf the gun.

Previously in the trial, Judge Ramras ruled that prosecutors cannot introduce as evidence an essay titled ‘How to Murder Your Husband’ that Crampton Brophy wrote in 2011 while applying to a writer’s group.

‘As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure,’ Crampton Brophy wrote in the essay.

‘After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don’t want to spend any time in jail. And let me say clearly for the record, I don’t like jumpsuits and orange isn’t my color.’

The essay also weighed valid motives for murder, including infidelity and the costs of a divorce, and methods; knives are ‘really personal’ while guns are ‘loud, messy (and) require some skill.’

But Ramras deemed the post too old to be relevant – and said that any value it may provide the trial is outweighed by the prejudice it may spark.

He ruled that ‘any minimal probative value of an article written that long ago is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice and confusion of the issues.’

Crampton Brophy also wrote in an online biography about the struggles of being married to a chef.

‘As a result there are chickens and turkeys in my backyard, a fabulous vegetable garden which also grows tobacco for an insecticide and a hot meal on the table every night,’ she wrote.

‘For those of you who have longed for this, let me caution you. The old adage is true. Be careful what you wish for, when the gods are truly angry, they grant us our wishes.’

Woman allegedly dating Gerard Piqué which led to his split with Shakira speaks out

0

A young lady alleged to be the reason behind the split between footballer Gerard Pique and his former partner and Colombian pop star Shakira, has denied the allegations.

Earlier this month, there were reports that the alleged new partner of the Barcelona defender was a ’22-year-old blonde’ woman who is referred to as CC and a close friend to Pique’s teammate Riqui Puig.

The lady is also a waitress working in a nightclub in Spain and living in Catalonia where the Barcelona defender also resides

It is alleged that Shakira hired private investigators who identified the woman as Pique’s girlfriend.

The former couple has since announced their separation, with their lawyers working on finding an amicable solution for both parties.

The lady behind the split has since deleted her social media profile amid rumors surrounding her involvement in the breakup between Pique and Shakira.

‘C.M.’ recently came out to clarify that she is not the girl the rumors claim and also provided the reason why she is not on social media anymore.

Speaking on the Telecinco show (via MARCA), she was quoted as saying the following:

“I would like to clarify that I do not know Gerard Pique at all, they have linked me to him without meaning because of the description of the supposed girl and they have awarded me the role taking advantage of the fact that I do not have social media because I am doing my final exams.”
She added:

“It’s not me and I don’t know her, so please leave me alone, people are blasting me for things I haven’t done, anything that comes out with my name will be met with a lawsuit (…) I don’t understand why they’ve gotten me in the way.”

The lady in question wants to be left out of all the allegations and believes the real woman behind the split will soon be revealed. She said:

“I guess because they need someone to change the subject and confuse everyone, although what they’ve told me is that the real girl is going to come out soon, I hope that’s how they leave me in peace and be able to go back to studying calmly, which is what matters to me.”

Edgar Lungu Fermented Power And Drunk It Leading To His Downfall, Says Joseph Moyo

Lungu fermented, drunk power to his downfall – Moyo

By Edwin Mbulo in Livingstone

EDGAR Lungu fermented power and drunk it leading to his downfall, says Joseph Moyo.

Commenting on the removal of High Court judge Sunday Nkonde by President Hakainde Hichilema, Moyo, The African Woman Foundation (TAWF) president, said power just like corn, rice, sorghum and grapes is safe if well utilised and not fermented.

“One Edgar Lungu was so obsessed with power to an extend that he started to ferment it. Once fermented, he drunk but it had already become very poisonous for him. He become arrogant and stopped listening and it led to his downfall,” Moyo said.

He said leaders should not ferment power but keep it in its natural state as prescribed by the Constitution.

“Once the law keeps check of power fermentation it leads to good governance because leaders would demand that all fermentation processes be stopped. But if the other happens it becomes strong alcoholic like chibuku out of corn, sake out of rice as it is in Japan, seven days or wine out of sorghum and grapes respectively,” Moyo said.

“Corn or maize, rice, sorghum and grapes are very safe as you can make cornflakes, mealie meal. Non-alcoholic drinks from grapes, sweet beer or munkoyo from sorghum and not sake from rice. Power on the hand can be used to build and better people’s lives and contribute to the nation’s economic growth. But alas Edgar Lungu abused it and sent it into a fermentation process thus becoming very alcoholic for him and his leaders who also drunk from the same cup as he instead of refusing to do so.”

He said the justice system was also given fermented power leading to injustices and bad justice decisions such as the closure of The Post and arrests of then opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema.

“Judges in my view were protected by the PF government and received instructions from them instead of the Constitution. Judges disregarded the Constitution and respected human beings in the PF regime. They feared PF cadres and drunk the fermented power given to them. So justice Nkonde brought what has happened onto himself. He never believed that Zambia was ever going to be under the UPND regime as did PF. For him it was going to be always Chagwa or the PF in power,” said Moyo.

President Hichilema dismissed judge Nkonde for gross misconduct followings a recommendation by the Judicial Complaints Commission.

According to a statement dated June 3, 2022 issued by presidential spokesperson Anthony Bwalya, the removal of the puisine judge is in exercise of the powers vested in the President by the Constitution.

Nkonde’s sacking emanates from a complaint which was lodged against him by former Post newspaper editor-in-chief Fred M’membe for professional misconduct.
Dr M’membe had complained against judge Nkonde for being biased in the manner he handled the liquidation proceedings of Post Newspapers Limited in November 2016.
Dr M’membe’s contention was that Nkonde could not preside over the liquidation case of the newspaper as he once attempted to render the company insolvent in 2012 when he commenced a law suit against it on behalf of Investrust Bank without the bank’s authority.
Nkonde on January 10, 2018 allowed provisional liquidator Lewis Mosho and five former employees of The Post, including the Zambia Revenue Authority to fraudulently enter into a consent order declaring the company insolvent.
In November 2018, the JCC found judge Nkonde with a case to answer and wrote a letter to former president Lungu, recommending that judge Nkonde be suspended from duty to allow it to investigate him.
But Lungu ignored the disciplinary body’s request until he left office.

INFLATION RATE IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AN ARTIFICIAL ECONOMY

….and that is why the cost of living is still escalating – Dr Fred M’membe

LUSAKA, Monday, June 13, 2022 (Smart Eagles)

Let’s not be excited that inflation rate is going down, leader of the opposition Socialist Party Zambia Dr Fred M’membe has warned Zambians.

Dr M’membe has explained the reason inflation rate is seemingly going down while the cost of living is escalating. He said the performance of the inflation rate is based on what he termed as the artificial economy and not the real one.

The opposition leader disclosed this when he featured on Diamond TV Zambia’s “COSTA” yesterday.

“Any student of political economy, not just mere economy will tell you that we have two economies. There is the real economy, that is based on the goods being produced. There is what we call, for lack of a better term, an artificial economy that just deals with the exchanging economies and you make money,” he said.

“Today you can incorporate a company saying there is uranium found in Chongwe. And that company starts to sell shares because they believe that the grade of uranium is very high in Chongwe that you have found. You list that on the stock exchange, it will start to make money. It may take Ten years to actualize that project but shares are being exchanged. No production at all.”

The opposition leader explained that what is being seen with the figures of inflation is not coming from the production of goods or services being traded.

Dr M’membe said the figures are coming out of simply playing with monetary issues.

“Then later on in the Ninth or Eighth year, they realize that actually the grade of the uranium you are talking about in Chongwe is of low quality. So that project will not take place. You had all this economy that you created, all these business, people are making money from the artificial economy. What you are seeing with the figures of inflation is not coming from the production of goods or services being traded. It’s coming from simply playing around with monetary issues,” he said.

“Demand and supply, you reduce it. You suppress a bit of demand from the Kwacha, from the Dollar and so on. That pushes the exchange rate a bit lower. That also helps lower inflation and so on. Have you reduced the cost of living? No. are prices really coming down? Have prices really been coming down the way the rate of the inflation rate is coming down? Or prices have been going up? On the real economy, prices have been going up.”

Cameroon: Patrick Mboma Appointed Indomitable Lions Ambassador

0

Former Cameroon goal poacher Henri Patrick Mboma Dem, has been appointed Ambassador of the Indomitable Lions.

His appointment was made official on Friday, following the signing of his contract at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation in Tsinga, Yaounde.

The two times TotalEnergies AFCON winner and Olympic gold medalist Mboma, has been constantly present in the indomitable lions delegations for their recent games, since his one time teammate Samuel Eto’o Fils was voted FECAFOOT president.

In the company of Eto’o and other top football officials in the Country, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward signed a contract that will see him sell the indomitable lions brand for the next four years.

In his new role as Ambassador of the indomitable lions, Patrick Mboma is expected to accompany the team in their travels, provide valuable advice to the players and coaches and also work with the marketing department of the Cameroon national team.

“In the vision that I proposed to the delegates that accepted to give me their confidence last December 11, one of the things was to bring back all those who served Cameroon Football,” FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o said during the contract signing.

“One of the greatest Cameroonian footballer is Mboma. I had great honor to play with him for quite a good time and today he will accompany our team, and bring some experience, leadership and his advices to our coaches.

“Welcome back home and I think in the course of these four years, we will win many trophies,” Eto’o added.

Mboma won 57 caps for the indomitable lions between 1995 to 2004, scoring 33 goals.

“I am honored for the consideration. The mission that awaits is to carry the voice of the federation, the voice of Cameroon football,” the one time African Footballer of the Year said.

Since taking office in December 2021 as FECAFOOT president, Eto’o has given key positions to his former teammates. Rigobert Song Bahanag was appointed the lions coach, with Augustine Simo part of the coaching staff.

“Since six months, lots of things have changed and we will want to add more value to Cameroon Football,” Mboma said of Eto’o’s first six months in office.

During Mboma’s nine years international career with the indomitable lions of Cameroon, he won two TotalEnergies AFCON trophies in the years 2000 and 2002, an Olympic Gold medal in Sydney 2000, and was voted African footballer of the year 2000.

Why I joined Man City from Dortmund -Erling Haaland

Manchester City have announced the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51m.

City announced last month they had beaten off competition from Europe’s top clubs to agree a deal with the German giants after triggering Haaland’s reported £51 million ($63 million) release clause.

The 21-year-old has now signed a five-year contract to follow in the footsteps of his father Alfie Inge Haaland, who played for City between 2000 and 2003.

Haaland believes he will only improve working under Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after completing his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to the English champions on Monday.

“I was born in England, I’ve been a City fan my whole life, I know a lot about the club,” Haaland told Man City TV on why he choose the Etihad as the destination for the next stage of his career.

“In the end (it was) two things; I feel at home here and also I think I can develop and get the best out of my game at City.”

Haaland had almost his pick of Europe’s top clubs thanks to a buyout clause below his market value and a stunning record of 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund.

He also now has 20 goals in 21 international appearances after scoring five times in four games this month for Norway.

The arrival of one of world football’s biggest talents ends City’s search for a specialist striker to succeed the club’s all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who left Manchester last year.

City’s attempt to sign England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham fell short last summer, but Guardiola’s men still had enough to pip Liverpool by a point to win a fourth Premier League title in five seasons.

Guardiola has often preferred a system without a recognised striker, but Haaland is confident the two will be the perfect match.

“I think I can develop a lot under Pep and in this club. I think I can get better in a lot of things and hopefully I can score a lot of goals,” added Haaland.

“I’ve spoken a little bit with him and we both look forward to working together.”

Champions League target

Guardiola has won nine major trophies in six seasons as City boss, but the Champions League has eluded him.

City were beaten 6-5 on aggregate by Real Madrid in a dramatic semi-final in May to extend their wait to win European club football’s biggest prize.

Haaland, who has scored 23 goals in 19 Champions League appearances for Dortmund and RB Salzburg, will be expected to get City over the line when it matters most in Europe.

“I want to score goals, win trophies, and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me, and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season,” he said.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions,” he added.

Despite failing to land the Champions League, Haaland’s decision to choose City over the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United is a huge coup for the club’s rising status as one of European football’s superpowers.

“His rise has been remarkable, but he is still only 21. His best years are ahead of him, and we are confident he can get even better working with Pep,” said City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain.

“He is a huge talent and has been one of the best strikers in Europe over the last few seasons.

“His goalscoring record is exceptional and his performances at Borussia Dortmund and in the Champions League in particular have proved he can succeed at the highest level.”

CDF EXCITEMENT FADING AWAY …halfway into the year nothing we can point at – Siatubotu

CDF EXCITEMENT FADING AWAY

…halfway into the year nothing we can point at – Siatubotu

By Ben Mbangu in Choma

THE Voice organisation says the delay in actualising “real decentralisation” process in the utilisation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will affect the intended purpose of empowering young people.

In an interview, The Voice executive director Faith Siatubotu wondered why it had taken long for young people to access the funds when they had formed and registered cooperatives as instructed.

“The delay in actualising real decentralisation process in the utilisation of Constituency Development Funds is defeating the intended purpose of empowering young people with funds to do projects to enable them create employment for others, and bring about development in their respective wards and constituencies,” she noted.

Siatubotu observed that the excitement about CDF was slowly fading away.

“When the President [Hakainde Hichilema] made a pronouncement on the increase of CDF to K25.7 million per constituency, his intention was to take the money to the people and people were very excited about this because it was the first time in history that a constituency was allocated that much. However, the excitement is slowly fading because the purported decentralisation of the CDF has not been realised. The instructions on how the money will be put to use in every constituency are coming from Lusaka meaning we are still under the central control system,” she argued. “Where is the problem? We have gone halfway of the year and there is still nothing we can point at that has been realised out of CDF. The young people were advised to register companies and cooperatives in order to benefit from the same, but there has not been proper or enough sensitisation on how to apply for funding under CDF. Not even sensitisation on how to apply for bursaries! There is not enough time left because the year will soon be ending and the young people would still not have anything constructive to do to elevate their livelihood.”

Siatubotu wondered why implementation of projects and access to funds had taken so long.

“The young people have registered cooperatives and companies as instructed, then what? Why is it taking so long to see implementation? Do the people mandated to handle CDF have vast knowledge on how to go about it? Why are the funds decentralised yet the instructions still centralised? Has sensitisation in rural areas been done? When will there be actual decentralisation even in instructions so that we see progress? There is no decentralisation if instructions and control are still centralised,” said Siatubotu.

How UPND Is Dununa Reversing On Constitution, Cyber Act, ATI Faster And Worse Than PF- Kasebamashila Kaseba

Kasebamashila Kaseba
HOW UPND IS DUNUNA REVERSING ON CONSTITUTION, CYBER ACT, ATI FASTER AND WORSE THAN PF

— 20 (2) Subject to the provisions of this Constitution a law shall not make any provision that derogates from freedom of the press. —

— Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. U.S Constitution First Amendment —

Firstly, change of government, as say in the first 100 days and the rest of the term, is not change of persons, from EL to HH or personnel in the civil service but change of laws in Zambia change of the Constitution.

Zambia of UPND, MMD, PF and UPND inherited colonial or predecessors’ bad laws they maintained or worsened enjoyed than repealed.

For example, the Public Order Act or UNIP re-declaration and maintenance of State of Emergency.

Unfortunately, UPND like PF at its end has no law reform agenda at its beginnings.

UPND has not prioritised the draft Bill of Rights with stand-alone press freedom, stand-alone ATI article.

Instead, UPND has prioritised UPND media self regulation (self censorship) contrary to Article 20 (2) above.

In other words, the works of self regulation is against the Constitution as it stands in agreement with the US Constitution first amendment.

Otherwise, the best example of self regulation or self censorship is self-regulating and IBA-indepenfent ZNBC of PF doing damage especially to UPND denied the right of reply (now in the draft Bill of Rights) through “was not available by broadcast time” or “the phone went unanswered”.

Further, UPND government is pushing the agenda of UPND media self regulation when it is UPND itself and not media regulation and is using non media-trained Minister among others as part of and leading self regulation.

UPND is also working with some media NGOs that themselves rejected the PF NGO regulation or NGO self regulation.

That is how PF also enforced MMD’s SI 65 of 2011 through ZICTA enforced SIM Card regulation targeted at PF radio phone callers than protect citizens and their more expensive phones or gadgets.

UPND has changed its position on SIM card registration or regulation as well as Cyber Act.

Just as UPND is working contrary to its own Zambia Law Development Commission report (MMD and PF bequeathed) submission of the repeal of defamation of the President section 69.

Where the Constitution has clearly guaranteed of no derogations or crawbacks, UPND reneged to instead guarantee press freedom with the words of mouth of HH.

Where the PF sponsored draft bill of rights (UPND blocked in the 2016 referendum) even expressly provides for ATI, UPND wants its own UPND media self regulation.

Where the PF of EL in its early days lost a High Court judgement without appealing it when the judge expunged the Penal Section 67 on False news, UPND and HH seem to reinstate it especially and ironically at his two press conferences right under the media lights.

For where would a press be a press without freedom or access to information or democracy without press or a press accountable to government than vice versa?

Other political parties, democracies, IMF are watching with interest
the shrinkage of media space and UPND expanded press coverage or enjoyment of press freedom and expression or UPND derogation of press freedom by UPND media self regulation.

In the end, the ‘progress’ PF made in Constitutional and media law reforms, UPND media self-regulation has made regress or dununa reversed or donchi kubeba-ed to self-censorship worse and faster than PF and EL or MCS.

POLITICIANS AND MISTAKES

Because they are human, political leaders are bound to make mistakes. Because they are not necessarily experts in their assigned roles, they are bound to make mistakes. Because they are politicians, they would want to come out knowledgeable and give a sense of confidence to their supporters. Because the democratic space was only reopened in 1991, the majority of people ascending to positions of power are no different from interns assigned sensitive roles.

So, President Hakainde, Vice President Nalumango, Cabinet Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, District Commissioners and Ambassadors will, from time to time, make mistakes in various ways that include the diagnosis of policy problems, and perpetuation of common errors that the public may have always believed as the truth, among others.

True to their identity as Zambian politicians, they will not walk back their statements and apologize. But not to worry, the world will not come to an end on account of that. Thanks to social media and other sources of news and information, you could learn something that politicians cannot teach you.

For instance, to assume that private-sector performance metrics can work in the public sector without significant modifications as advocated by government is a fatal mistake in public policy. Any well-schooled and educated policy advisor will tell that. To think that a piece of land occupied by an embassy becomes the sending country’s territory is incorrect. No diplomatic school of repute will ever teach that. If you are an international relations student, DO NOT EVER WRITE OR SAY THAT!

The ongoing shortages of drugs in hospitals is yet another example of how elusive service delivery is, a well-known and often studied phenomenon in implementation literature. Politicians keep pushing the envelope creating the impression that they have matters under control and everybody else, especially critics are ignorant.

Other than the cabinet that FJT created after the 1991 elections, most cabinets we have had since then have had new entrants to governance and assigned to portfolios where they have had no experience. To add salt to injury, the only qualification you need to enter politics is just a basic general certificate of education which, by its very definition, does not give you any professional skills. Consequently, we have many policy makers, who are supposed to provide strategic direction, that are in essence pretenders to the throne because they bring nothing of substance to their assigned roles.

And the only reason they survive is on account of political supporters who cannot care less about professionalism, expertise, efficiency and yet, as victims of poor service delivery arising from poor leadership, they are the first to suffer and cry for help.

Chinese man admitted shooting a video in which Malawi children were told to chant “I am a black monster and my IQ is low”

A racist Chinese man identified as Lu Ke admitted shooting a video in which Malawi children were told to chant “I am a black monster and my IQ is low”.

A BBC investigation has uncovered Lu Ke as the man behind the video which caused outrage across the world in 2020 when it was published on Chinese social media.

In the video, excited children wearing matching shirts are told to chant phrases in Chinese by the man who is off-camera. The phrase the children chant is ” I am a black monster and my IQ is low.”

Videos such as these are produced by Chinese people in Africa and sold to fellow Chinese nationals on social media.

BBC Africa Eye reporters used other videos involving the same children and found that some of the videos were being shot at Njewa, a trading centre a few kilometres from the capital, Lilongwe.

They found Lu Ke who is called Susu (uncle) by the locals and he pays the kids half a dollar a day to perform in his videos in which he would make the children sing, dance or chant in Chinese. He would then sell the videos to fellow Chinese nationals in China.

The reporters also went to Kamwendo Village in Mchinji where the Chinese man spent several years shooting videos of kids.

A six-year-old child called Bright told the BBC that Lu Ke used violence to force the children say the phrases he wanted.

“He used to pinch us or whip us with a stick when we did something,” Bright said.

The investigators, with the help of another Chinese man, Paul, who posed as a buyer of videos, interviewed Susu and he admitted making the “low IQ” video.

When shown the video, Lu Ke said: “Yes this was mine”. However, he quickly retracted his words and said that it was shot by his friend.

Lu Ke also advised Paul to never pity black people, saying that is “how they should be treated”.

When the BBC reporters confronted Lu Ke, he denied making the racist videos and assaulting the children but he said he made videos to promote Chinese culture.

Speaking to BBC, one of the parents of the children who appeared in the racist video expressed concerns over the conduct of the Chinese man and demanded that he should be evicted from the area.- Malawi24

Zambians Should Only Give President Hichilema And UPND Five Years – Wynter Munacaambwa

ZAMBIANS SHOULD ONLY GIVE PRESIDENT HICHILEMA AND UPND FIVE YEARS – KABIMBA

… says the UPND Government should be bold enough and accept that they failed to run the affairs of the country.

Lusaka … Monday, June, 13, 2022 [Smart Eagles]

Economic Front EF President Winter Kabimba says the UPND Government has failed to meet the aspirations of the Zambian people and should be shown the exist door in 2026.

Speaking when he featured on Millennium radio this morning, Mr. Kabimba said President Hichilema should be bold enough and accept that he have failed to run the country.

He said accepting failure will not make the UPND less humans.

” UPND have no humility to accept failure and will keep bashing their heads against the wall and they think accepting failure will make them less human. Zambians should give the UPND fives years to be in power, they gave MMD 20 years,PF 10 years and the UPND should be given five years, the arithmetic is very correct,” Mr. Kabimba said.

And Mr. Kabimba said the UPND wants to employ their cadres in the pending teacher recruitment process.

” The UPND wants to employ their cadres, members and supporters even when they don’t have qualifications. The Teaching Council of Zambia is doing a wonderful job, they know what qualifications a teacher should have. What the UPND pronounce during the day is not what they want at night. They promised their supporters that they will be employed even without qualifications,” Mr. Kabimba said.

” Cornelius Mwittwa is having power for the first time and power has corrupted his mind. Iam surprised with his justification regarding his displeasure about the recruitment process. The problem with UPND is that they think they are the only ones that are educated all of us dont think. Yet there are many of us that think better than them. They said the teacher recruitment process was faulty because the Office of the President was not involved. Since when did the recruitment of a teacher become an Office of President function,” Mr. Kabimba asked.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabimba says the performance of the mining sector is a disaster and only benefiting transnational corporations.

“If the mining sector was performing well the Copperbelt would have development in all indices. Would have had high levels of employment, reduced crime and poverty levels and life expectancy would be huge than any province. The Copperbelt province is as poor as Luapula or central province.

UPND WILL DWARF PF’S CORRUPTION …..there’s corruption in this government – Dr Fred M’membe

UPND WILL DWARF PF’S CORRUPTION

…..there’s corruption in this government – Dr Fred M’membe

LUSAKA, Monday, June 13, 2022 (Smart Eagles)

Socialist Party Zambia president Dr Fred M’membe has charged that UPND is doing the same things they criticized the PF for whilst in opposition.

Speaking when he featured on Diamond TV Zambia’s “COSTA,” Dr M’membe said the New Dawn opposed tribalism, a high cost of living and corruption yet they are the now perpetrators. He said UPND will dwarf the PF corruption at the end of their term of office.

The opposition leader detested the appointments which he said are based on regional and political grounds.

“When you look at the political front, you look at the economic front, the UPND is doing the same thing PF was doing. They are doing the same things they opposed. They opposed tribalism or regionalism in terms of appointments to public institutions. They talked about the high cost of living. They have perpetrated the same things,” he said.

“Just take our Judicial System, the Minister of Justice is from the same region, the Chief Justice is from the same region, the Attorney General is from the same region, the Solicitor General is from the same region, the Chairman of the Judicial service is from the same region, the Chairman of the Judicial Complaints Commission is from the same region.”

He wondered if there were no competent people from other regions.

Dr M’membe who said he has roots from different ethnicities in the country said he can freely talk about the issues in question because “it’s difficult for anybody to accuse me of tribalism.”

“I can talk freely about these issues because it is difficult for anybody to accuse me of tribalism. My ethnicity composition clears me of that; my mother is from Southern and Western Provinces. I have Seven ethnicities in Western Province and One in Southern Province. My Father is from Northern and Muchinga. I have Two ethnicities there; Bemba and Bisa. Nobody can accuse me of being anti Southern, anti Western. Nobody can accuse me of being anti Northern, anti Muchinga. And I can speak freely about these issues.”

He added that “they (UPND) talked about corruption, there is still corruption in government. And at the rate we are going, they will dwarf the PF corruption at the end of their term of office.. They have tempered with individuals but the system that the UPND is using is NOT different from the one used by the PF! Corruption is going to deepen.. In terms of Institutions, what have they changed? Whatever they are doing is still under the neo liberal economic policies that were pursued by the previous regime.. The system that they have embarked on is inherently corrupt!”

OPPOSITION NOT DEAD – TAYALI

OPPOSITION NOT DEAD – TAYALI

….as Saboi Imboela says the biggest opposition UPND has is itself

LUSAKA, Sunday, June 12, 2022 (Smart Eagles)

I would like to dispel this assertion that has been going on that there is no opposition in this country and that the opposition in this country is divided, EEP President Chilufya Tayali has said.

Mr Tayali said the opposition is eager to engage the New Dawn government on various pertinent issues.

He said this to the media in Lusaka yesterday after he and other opposition leader met to deliberate on different issues pertaining to the welfare of the country.

“The opposition came together to share ideas. Some of the issues are relating to the Constitution and some of the agreements that this government is going into like the AFRICOM,” he said.

“These are the issues we are discussing and we would love to engage the UPND government on these pertinent issues because this country does not belong to President Hichilema alone, this country does not belong to UPND, it belongs to all of us.”

Me Tayali told President Hakainde Hichilema that he should not be comfortable and think he can do whatever he wants.

On AFRICOM, the opposition leader becomes lack on consultation from stakeholders.

Meanwhile, NDC Leader Saboi Imboela – SI said the biggest opposition that the UPND has is “even more than us as opposition leaders, its themselves.”

Ms Imboela said the kind of things government is doing leave all citizens angry.

“So at the end of the day, its not about us the opposition even telling the people saying this is what is going on. The people are feeling it,” he said.

The opposition leader lamented that citizens, including the “praise members” were struggling.

“It is difficult. People are struggling to survive out there, so that is the biggest opposition that you have yourselves in your homes. You don’t have to wait for anybody to tell you,” she said.

“Long gone are politics where when something is going on then you keep quite, youre waiting, youre waiting for what? There us a correlation between the way you vote and the way you live, I always say that. And right now the correlation is that what the people voted for is absolutely a disappointment.”

NSHIMA CONTRIBUTING TO DIABETES CASES

NSHIMA CONTRIBUTING TO DIABETES CASES.

A research conducted by Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) established that changes in lifestyle and diet may be contributing to the increased prevalence of diabetes reported at six percent in Malawi.

The research which was conducted in 2015 was done by Vincent Mlotha and others.

It says diabetes cases are high in many low and middle income countries, including Malawi, where the burden of infectious diseases, such as HIV and Aids as well as TB, is already high.

The aim of the study was to investigate glycaemic indices of maize flour stiff porridges, locally known as nsima, to identify areas for improvement in consumer diets.

Glycaemic index is a system that ranks foods on a scale from 1 to 100 based on their effect on blood-sugar levels.

The report says food that increases blood glucose level faster after consuming it, is said to have a high glycaemic index.

The findings recommended fermented flour (ufa oyera) to be promoted for the preparation of various maize based foods meant for the diabetics in the country as compared to flour made from dehulled and degermed maize grits (Gramil) and whole maize flour (mgaiwa).

The research also predicted that nsima cooked using the current Malawian maize flours and recipes would continue to raise blood sugar levels in the long-term considering high glycaemic load figures recorded.

The study recommends that people should eat maize-based products in combination with other staples such as cassava, sorghum, and potatoes, at one meal to start with and then slowly increasing the amount of these staples until they are fully incorporated and accepted into their food habits.

The study was published in Food Science and Nutrition Journal by Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare Mary Shawa, who is a nutritionist also said people need to start producing cassava, potato, millet, sorghum, apart from maize.

“If you ask our grandparents, maize became an issue from 1964. My grandmother told me that they were eating millet, sorghum and potatoes. Maize interferes [with] pancreas function, that is why diabetes in very high in Malawi.

“So in countries where maize diets are an issue, diabetes is also an issue. We should not eat maize everyday. Eat maize products once in a while, we need to eat other foods,” Shawa advises.

“If you want to prevent diabetes, you have to live a health life which includes exercises. You also need to eat healthy, like cutting back on sugars, high cabohydrates foods. It is important to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits,” she says.

Latest statistics show that six in every 100 people in Malawi are diabetes sufferers and 3.9 percent of the cases remain undiagnosed.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner’s Special Squad has detained five policemen attached to singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, for attempted murder after they shot two men identified as Irebami Lawrence and one Tolu at Club Cubana on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Wednesday, June 8.

Punch reports that a preliminary report by the Bar Beach Police Division states that trouble started when the singer and five police escorts visited the nightclub around 4am on June 8. About four policemen waited outside while one of the policemen, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, who was in mufti, accompanied the Grammy-Award-winning artiste into the club.

The publication stated that according to multiple witness statements, the singer was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman. He was reported to have told Ibrahim to invite the woman to join him. Unknown to him, the lady was with her husband who got angry and accused the singer of making advances on his wife when he was with her.

After some minutes, Burna Boy allegedly made fresh advances at the woman. This infuriated her husband further and his friends who had gathered at the club.

“As things were getting heated, Ibrahim brought out his service pistol and shot multiple times while Burna Boy was laughing,” said a senior policeman

In the process, 27-year-old Lawrence was shot in the thigh while his friend, Tolu, was hit in the head by a bullet. This caused a commotion in the club.

It was learnt that Burna Boy and his crew then drove off to one of his properties at the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before leaving for Lekki Phase 1.

“Aware of what he had done, Burna Boy took the next flight out without even informing the policemen. He only made a video call to them to inform them that he had traveled to Spain. All his police escorts have been arrested and are currently at the Command headquarters,” said a top source at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

A friend of one of the victims said they came into Nigeria from the UK and US for a wedding, before the unfortunate incident happened.

”My Guys came to 9ja from England & Usa Respectively 4 a wedding.I invited dem out to club cubana a petty altercation with Burna Boy’s people arose (Cos of woman). The next thing Bullets started flying , one got scraped in the head by a bullet and the other one got shot in the leg.

When we rushed him to the Naval Medic Center they said they had no blood and he needed 3 pints of O+ blood , they said none of us can donate because we had been drinking from the club and then my friend started to shake on the hospital bed like he was losing his life

Good samaritan soldiers then offered to give a pint of blood each which was then used to stabilize him. The doctor said the iphone in his pocket which the bullet went through slowed down the bullet making it less fatal , the iphone saved his life”

Floyd Mayweather in tears after being inducted into International Boxing Hall Of Fame

Floyd Mayweather couldn’t hold back his tears as he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame on Saturday night, June 11.

The retired American boxer was emotional as he collected the accolade, which is recognized as one of the most prestigious honours a boxer can receive. He had to be comforted by Laila Ali, the daughter of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who was also a top fighter in her own right.

“I don’t really know what to say,” Floyd said as he started his acceptance speech. “I told myself I wouldn’t cry, but this is something beautiful. This is one of the best days of my life.”

“To all these champions up here,” he said, turning to other inductees around him. “All these champions to me … they molded me to be who I am today.

“The champions from the past, I could name so many fighters, the list goes on and on. I’m so proud of these fighters. I’m not even here to talk about me, because without them, there would be no me.

“I’m happy that Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley are in the Hall of Fame. All of these legends. Bernard Hopkins and James Toney. The list goes on. Andre Ward, Laila Ali. I’m so proud of you guys.

“This isn’t just about Floyd Mayweather,” he said.

Mayweather praised his family members, including Floyd Mayweather Sr. who helped train him, and Josie Harris — the mother of two of his children, who died two years ago.

“I love my dad because if it weren’t for him, this wouldn’t be possible,” he said.

“And I said to myself, I told myself over and over, ‘When I get up here, I’m not going to cry. I’ll give a great speech, and say how proud I am of my mother, my father, my family.’

“You guys always see my dad — the best trainer. They’ll never be another trainer like my dad.

“They call [boxing] the ‘Sweet Science,’ so what my dad said, ‘You know what, son? The less punches you take, the longer you’ll be able to last in the sport of boxing.’

“I said, ‘I’ll take less punches, retire on my own terms, and make smart investments so I can live a comfortable life long after retirement’.”

Mayweather continued: “Boxing is blood, sweat, and tears. Shit, I cry on a great day like this? These are tears of joy.

“My body of work is amazing. To fight guys like Shane, Manny Pacquiao, these guys are amazing, unbelievable, great champions — I love all these guys.”

The fighter then commented on what motivated him in sport. “When they say I can’t do something, that make me work that much harder. I push myself and push myself and push myself to be the best.”

The former five-weight world champion retired from pro boxing in 2017 after beating the UFC star Conor McGregor in the 10th round of a landmark, crossover bout.

Mayweather is regarded as one of the most successful boxers in history after he retired with an unbeaten record (50-0), which saw him hold titles from super featherweight to light-middleweight across his career.

Nigeria’s Access Bank Acquires Kenya’s Sidian Bank for $36.7 Million

Access Bank Plc, Africa’s biggest bank by customer base, is set to acquire an 83.4% stake in Kenya’s Sidian Bank. The acquisition is valued at 36.7 million USD which is about 15 billion NGN and 4.3 billion KES. The shares currently belong to Centum Investment Plc., a Kenyan investment company, and its subsidiary Bakki Holdco Ltd.

According to TechCabal, this will be the Nigerian bank’s second bank acquisition in Kenya. The first was in February 2020 when the bank acquired nearly 100% of Kenyan Transactional Bank Plc for 12.8 million USD (1.56 billion KES/ 5.4 billion NGN). Since then, Transactional Bank became Access Bank Kenya.

Roosevelt Ogbonna, the CEO of Access Bank said this deal will aid the bank’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Kenya and amp up its diversification and geographic earnings growth strategies. Access Bank also plans to consolidate Sidian Bank with Access Bank Kenya to form a stronger banking institution and make the latter a Tier 2 bank in Kenya.

“Through this transaction and the subsequent merger with Access Bank Kenya, we will be well placed to promote regional trade finance and other cross-border banking services,” said Ogbonna.

According to a statement released by Access Bank on Wednesday, the deal is still pending some regulatory approvals in Nigeria and Kenya. Access Bank also said the purchase consideration includes the price to book 110% based on the audited March 2022 shareholders’ equity of Sidian Bank.

Since its establishment as K-rep Bank in 1999 and rebranding to its current name in 2016, Sidian Bank has especially focused on small and medium enterprises and trade finance. Between 2012 and March 2022, the bank grew its balance sheet from 162.2 million USD (19 billion KES) to 256.2 million USD (30 billion KES).

James Mworia, Centum Investment CEO believes the deal will bring in required monetary value which can then be used to invest in other strategic sectors across East Africa.

“This transaction stands as one of the largest private equity transactions in East Africa and reflects a strong commitment by Access Bank to the future of the Kenyan economy,” he said. “It advances Centum’s vision to be Africa’s foremost investment channel, and bolsters our track record of attracting foreign investors into Kenya and the region to invest in extraordinary enterprises.’

Herbert Wigwe, the former CEO of Access Bank and current group chief executive of Access Corporation also considered the larger East African market. “The acquisition of Sidian is a significant step-up in scale and potential for Access Bank in Kenya which represents the largest market and trade corridor in East Africa,” said Wigwe.

Access Bank has previously acquired numerous banks across Nigeria and Africa. It acquired Diamond Bank Plc in 2018, a process which was completed in 2019. In 2020, it acquired Zambia’s Cavmont Bank Ltd. through a merger deal that was completed in 2021. In 2021, it acquired South Africa’s Grobank and 78.15% of African Banking Corporation of Botswana Ltd.

UPND SECRETARY GENERAL’S RESPONSE TO WYNTER KABIMBA AND LUCKY MULUSA

UPND SECRETARY GENERAL’S RESPONSE TO WYNTER KABIMBA AND LUCKY MULUSA

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12th June 2022

*GIVE HH TIME TO RUN THE COUNTRY…KABIMBA , MULUSA A FAILED POLITICAL PROJECT* .

We note with concern a malicious submission by Economic Front(EF) leader Wynter Kabimba and his counterpart Mr. Lucky Mulusa, in which they are urging Zambians not to allow the UPND to go beyond 2026.

Firstly, Wynter Kabimba is PF and PF is Wynter Kabimba. This is why he went to bed with PF even after they expelled him from the PF.

Kabimba’s assertion that UPND should not go beyond 2026 is not only a day dream but a sign of bitterness which sent his alliance Partner PF out of leadership.

Kabimba knows that it cannot take less than a year to fix the nation which the PF and Kabimba destroyed in 10 years. However, good fruits are there for all to see that there is order and fiscal discipline in the country now.

Where there is order and fiscal discipline, an economy thrives.

Zambians have not forgotten how Kabimba went into an alliance as an individual with PF to stop President HH from standing using Bill 10.

Further, Kabimba has never succeeded politically; he was dumped by PF , later on by Fred M’membe due to his poor political reasoning.

We urge Zambians not to admit evil politicians who celebrated bloodshed ,corruption and gassing under the PF leadership through their support of the PF ideology.

Kabimba is part of the group which pushed an agenda to divide the nation on tribal lines. They clearly had no agenda for this country.

Allowing Kabimba and the PF back to rule is like re-admititng satan back in heaven.

As for Mr. Lucky Mulusa; this is a man who has no political direction, and has nothing completely to offer to the people of Zambia. President Edgar Lungu gave him chance to work as Minister of National Development Planning , and was soon fired for gross misconduct. There is literally nothing to write home about him.

The UPND has clear policies whose fruits have started manifesting through drastic reduction in inflation, free education , clear roadmap on debt restructuring, creation of a favourable environment for business, and commencement of social cash transfer targeting over 1 million people.

For reminder’s sake, let me take this time to mention a few things that our capable government has done so far;

1. Health workers recruitment is going on (11, 200).

2. Teacher recruitment is ongoing (30, 000.While PF only made replacement of 1200 teachers, meaning they did nothing, UPND is taking up 30,000 teachers. Kabimba and the PF must be ashamed of themselves.

3. K805 Million CDF fund released. This is a milestone. As soon as all the technicalities are resolved , citizens will be smiling.

4. Retirees have been paid off their monies.

5.Paying off all the 15,000 TAZARA workers which the PF government failed to do in 10 years time.

6.Paying off all the 128,000 pensioners which the PF government failed to do in 10 years time.

7.Paying off all the 34,000 council workers who were not receiving salary every month which the PF government failed to do in 10 years time.

8. Paying off all the 258,000 farmers who supplied maize to F.R.A under the PF.

9. Releasing the money for equalization fund for 2021 for all the 116 councils countrywide which the PF government failed to do.

10. Releasing of the 2021 CDF for all the 156 constituencies which the PF government failed to do in 7 years under President.

11. Freedom of expression is there for anyone to see.

12. Freedom of movement is there for anyone to see.The freedom of assembly is also being enjoyed by PF today.

13. No public order act to victimize anyone .

14. Media freedom is there for anyone to see . The opposition can freely go on any media and criticize government.

15. Separation of powers is given to the three organs of government .This is evidenced by the judgements , some of which are against the state.

16. No cadrism in the markets and bus stations. The President has made it clear that whoever breaks the law is on their own.

17. No police brutality . The rule of law has been restored. Bullets are no longer used against political opponents as was the case under the PF rule.

18.Cabinet has been reduced.

19.Presidential entourage has been reduced by more that 90%.

20. Recovery of stolen national asserts and monies are underway. So far we have seen considerable matters being brought before the court.

21. Unification of the country is 100% implemented. We now have a cabinet which represents all the 10 provinces of Zambia , just as President Hichilema promised Zambians during the campaigns.

22.Negotiations over Zambia’s debt servicing default are things of the past. We have reached an advanced stage. But this is what the PF failed to do in 10 years.

23. Political party members can now put on their party regalias without fearing political attacks.

To sum it up ,running the country is a process, and soon fruits will begin to show.

Better days are coming and we shall party together soon.

Issued by:
Hon Batuke Imenda
SECRETARY GENERAL.

LONG LIVE CHINGOLA, LONG LIVE ZAMBIA – HH

0

Fantastic conversation with the people of Chiwempala in Chingola constituency earlier today.

Just nine (9) months ago Chingola was a NO GO AREA for us and people’s freedoms such as association and assembly were simply cut off by the former regime but not anymore because freedom is here.

Abena Chingola, your loyalty to campaign, vote and protect the votes during the last election has already started paying off via free education, ending lawlessness, ending caderism and bringing about fresh air in which a mother at Nakadoli market, navutika market, Chipulukusu and all can freely trade without insomnia that a cadre will beat them or ransack their trading rights.

Like in opposition. We envision a united, prosperous and equitable Zambia and this is what we are working on right now.

We are here to work for all Zambians including those who wished us or indeed Zambia calamities.

We are one Zambia! One Nation and One People!

And no matter the challenges we are in and lie ahead, together we shall WIN and WIN BIG.

Long live Chingola! Long live Zambia.

May God bless you all.

Hakainde Hichilema
President of the Republic of Zambia.
