PF GOVERNMENT BUILT A 3 METERS WALL WITH 33.5 MILLION DOLLARS AND THEY SAY ZAMBIANS SHOULD VOTE THEM BACK

HON. MUSOKOTWANE SHOCKED BY THE STATUS OF NTUMPA UNIVERSITY PROJECT WHICH WAS INITIATED IN 2017

Minister of Finance and National Planning, Hon. Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, has revealed that government will engage investigative wings to trace and recover funds that were allocated for the construction of Ntumpa University in Northern Province. The announcement came after the Minister inspected the proposed site in Lukashya Constituency, Kasama District, where he expressed shock at the lack of progress, noting that only a small wall had been constructed.

Ntumpa University was initiated in 2017 by the previous government as a major public institution expected to sit on 400 hectares of land, but the project stalled a year later in 2018. Dr. Musokotwane said investigations will establish how much money was released for the project and which contractors were engaged, adding that it was disappointing to see development funds allegedly misappropriated instead of benefiting rural communities.

The Minister emphasized the need for society and leaders alike to protect public resources, warning that national development cannot be achieved without accountability and integrity.

Meanwhile, a local resident has echoed these concerns, calling for transparency and demanding a full explanation from the previous administration over the whereabouts of the missing funds.

  1. Auditors should have flagged this. Ministry of infrastructure who should be routine inspection of public structures to see what state they are in or just know that they exist have failed in the discharging of their duties. You have estate officers who travel aboard to do this annually yet local structures officers can not state what state they are in pretend they are working? That is gross incompetence. Even work that is said to be under construction; who monitors progress (Work in Progress) before monies are released to the contractors? Ba UPND should stop waiting for “whistle blowers” to tell you or give you information. In 2021 you said you were taking an inventory of issues. Four years later, you are unearthing this? Heads should roll at the Ministry of Infra structure. How safe are public structures? Those in the district, provinces what are they doing all the way to Head quarters. What are they doing when this is happening? Records could have been dustroyed by now. Local and Public Service commission. There is rampant misuse of public resources where are you? This is just a tip of the iceberg.
