POLICE REFUSE SOCIALIST PARTY TO HOLD POLITICAL RALLY IN MUFULIRA

THE Zambia Police in Chingola has denied the Socialist Party to hold a public rally in Mufulira.
The Socialist Party district leadership notified the Police of their intention to hold a public rally at Red Star Grounds on Saturday 22nd November 2025.
“ There is national security concerns in the country resulting from what happened in Chingola when the Republican President His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema visited the area”
However the Police, in the last two weeks have allowed the UPND to stage marches and rallies addressed by Chipoka Mulenga, Elisha Matambo and Paul Kabuswe in Chingola and Chililabombwe.
The mentioned three Ministers cannot be compared to M’membe or anyone because as everyone of us already know, Hon. Elisha Matambo is CB Provincial Minister, Hon. Chipoka Mulenga is the MP for Chingola where the unfortunate hooliganism happened. Hon Kabuswe is the MP for Chililabombwe, the nearest neighbor to Chingola. So the stoning of the President was more worrying and embarrassing for these three people probably more than any of the other Ministers or MPs because it happened in their bedroom. I feel their after rally was more of damage control than that of campaigning. Zambia has 10 Provinces and if there is security concern on the Copperbelt at the moment, M’membe is free to go to any of the other 9 Provinces and can hold his rally or rallies freely. There is no big issue here.
