” Political Criticism Should Be Constructive”
By Mark Ziligone
Opposition Patriotic Front-PF-Secretary General for Administration EDWIN LIFWEKELO says political criticism should be constructive and aimed at improving governance rather than insulting the President.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr LIFWEKELO said the Head of State has faced persistent criticism but has made progress in areas such as free education, increased Constituency Development Fund allocations and economic management.
He says Government’s free education policy has enabled millions of vulnerable children to return to school while the increase in CDF allocations has expanded resources available for constituency-level development.
Mr LIFWEKELO has since urged opposition political players to move on from the outcome of the August elections and focus on strengthening their political parties.
He has further called for an end to political violence in markets, bus stations and football stadiums saying sporting activities should unite Zambians regardless of their political affiliations.
Mr LIFWEKELO however says calls for peaceful reconciliation should not undermine the rule of law or interfere with ongoing criminal cases.
He says the courts must be allowed to operate independently, without political influence, while President HICHILEMA focuses on implementing programmes aimed at improving people’s lives.
