PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU APPOINTS HON. BRENDA NYIRENDA TO ACT AS DEPUTY SG
Lusaka-Thursday,10th October 2024
Patriotic Front President, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu has appointed Lundazi Member of Parliament, Hon. Brenda Nyirenda MP, as member of the Central Committee.
President Lungu has subsequently appointed Hon. Nyirenda as Acting Deputy Secretary General of the Party.
President Lungu said he noted the sad circumstances surrounding senior members including the Deputy Secretary General and Kawambwa MP, Hon. Nixon Chilangwa.
Hon. Chilangwa and Pambashe MP, Hon. Ronald Kaoma Chitotela are incarcerated in Mukobeko Maximum Correctional Facility.
Further, Secretary General, Hon. Raphael Nakacinda has been detained by the Police for the last eight days.
Below is the letter of appointment ny President Edgar Lungu to Hon. Nyirenda.
RE: HON. BREMDA NYIRENDA, APPOINTMENT AS ACTING DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL.
The above matter refers.
I have noted with sadness, the difficult circumstances facing our Deputy
Secretary General, Hon. Nickson Chilangwa.
It is for this reason that I have made the following interim decisions.
Please be informed that in accordance with the provisions of Articles
and 61 of the Patriotic Front Constitution, I hereby appoint you as a Member
the Central Committee. I also appoint you to act as Deputy Secretary Gene
of the Party until further notice.
Further, liaise and collaborate with the Secretary General on your duties and functions as stipulated in our Constitution.
