BREAKING: Republican Party in Complete Meltdown as Members Beg Trump to Stay Away From Their Districts
The Republican Party is unraveling in real time over what to do with its own president.
Interviews with more than two dozen Republican lawmakers, candidates, and operatives reveal a party with absolutely no unified plan for handling Trump ahead of November, and plenty of members quietly begging his team to stay home. “We’ve told them he cannot come,” said a senior Republican in a competitive House race, in a district Trump won by double digits in 2024. “Candidly, he would not be helpful here.”
Top GOP pollsters have gone further, advising several vulnerable candidates to avoid mentioning Trump altogether. One House Republican described the bind in stark terms: “You’re fucked if you mention him too much, and you’re also fucked if you don’t stay in his good graces. So that is the problem.”
The party’s own leadership can’t agree on the message either. The RNC is publicly warning members that distancing themselves risks alienating the base, while NRCC Chair Richard Hudson insists internal polling shows Trump as “a net positive in every district.” Meanwhile, one battleground operative admitted the real, unspoken problem out loud: “I’m not going to try to bring him to town if he’s underwater and it’s going to hurt us with a majority of voters.”
Trump, for his part, is choosing to campaign in safe red states like Alaska and Texas instead of the actual battlegrounds where Republicans need help holding their majority. His super PAC is sitting on more than $400 million those same candidates desperately need, with no clear sign how much of it they’ll actually see before Election Day.
A party that can’t decide whether its own president helps or hurts them, with money sitting untouched and candidates hiding from their own leader, isn’t a coordinated campaign. It’s chaos.
