Russia and Germany Hold First Foreign Minister Talks Since 2022
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul held their first bilateral talks since before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 26, with the two sides discussing bilateral relations and the war in Ukraine.
The talks marked a rare direct diplomatic contact between Moscow and Berlin as tensions between Russia and Germany remain high.
