RUSSIA IS ASKING IRAN HOW TO SURVIVE A WAR

Russia wants to send a delegation to Tehran.

The goal is to learn from Iran’s experience in protecting infrastructure and providing emergency services during wartime.

That is not a normal request. It is an admission.

Russia, the world’s second-largest military power, is asking Iran for help. Iran, a country under sanctions for decades, is now the teacher.

What does Russia want to learn.

How to keep the lights on when the bombs fall. How to repair power stations under attack. How to keep hospitals running when the grid collapses. How to mobilise emergency services when the enemy is hitting from the air.

These are the problems Iran has been solving for years. Israel has been bombing Iranian infrastructure for decades. The US has been threatening it. Iran built its civil defence system out of necessity. Now Russia needs it.

Why does Russia need it.

Because Ukraine is hitting Russian refineries. Drones are striking oil depots. The war has come home. Russia’s air defences are stretched. Its emergency services are overwhelmed. Its infrastructure is vulnerable.

Moscow is learning what Tehran already knows. You cannot win a war if your own country is burning.

This is not a strategic partnership of equals. It is a shift in the balance of knowledge. The student has become the teacher.

What happens when the superpower that was supposed to defend its allies is asking one of its own allies for survival tips.
