RUSSIA: Russian Forces Reportedly 4 Kilometers From Eastern Outskirts of Sloviansk
Russian Chief of the General Staff General Valery Gerasimov has claimed that Russian troops are now positioned approximately four kilometers from the eastern outskirts of Sloviansk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
The reported advance, if independently confirmed, would place Russian forces significantly closer to one of the key Ukrainian cities in the Donbas and could increase pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions in the area.
Sloviansk is strategically important because of its location within Ukraine’s broader defensive network in Donetsk. Any Russian movement toward the city could have wider implications for the battlefield in the region.
The claim comes from the Russian military leadership and has not been independently verified. The situation on the ground remains fluid, with Ukrainian and Russian forces continuing to contest positions across the Donbas.
⚠️ The reported distance should therefore be treated as a Russian battlefield claim pending independent confirmation.
