Russian Strikes Hit Ukraine as Largest Steel Plant Halts Operations

A wave of Russian strikes has hit multiple regions across Ukraine, including Kyiv, as Moscow continues to intensify its air campaign against Ukrainian targets.

In Kyiv, Russian strikes caused casualties and damage, while attacks across the country disrupted critical infrastructure and industrial facilities.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine’s largest steel plant, has halted operations after repeated Russian missile strikes caused extensive damage and made it impossible to safely and sustainably continue production.

The plant was targeted four times over five weeks, with the attacks killing five employees and injuring 17 others. The latest strike occurred on September 21.

The shutdown marks another major blow to Ukraine’s industrial sector as Russian attacks increasingly target critical manufacturing and energy infrastructure.
