Russian Warship Commander Decorated After Encounter With Danish Military Helicopter
The commander of Russia’s Soobrazitelny corvette has reportedly been decorated after an encounter with a Danish military helicopter in the Baltic Sea.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, the corvette was conducting a mission in international waters in the southwestern Baltic Sea on September 14 when it detected a Danish Air Force helicopter approaching the vessel.
The Russian commander reportedly fired two red signal flares as a warning, after which the Danish helicopter moved away, according to the ministry.
Russia described the incident as an attempt to prevent what it characterized as a possible provocation. The Danish side’s account of the incident was not included in the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement.
