SIMUUWE DISMISSES FLYING EAGLES PUBLICATION AS FAKE: “BA 3 MILLION HAVE NO TIME FOR RUBBISH”
LUSAKA, SEPTEMBER 20, 2026 – UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe has dismissed as fake an online publication by Flying Eagles – Zambia purporting to attribute statements to former Minister Silvia Masebo challenging him over the electoral performance of UPND Members of Parliament in Lusaka and the Copperbelt.
Mr Simuuwe said the publication does not represent the position of Ms Masebo and should be treated as a fabricated story intended to create unnecessary political controversy.
He said Ms Masebo is a loyal member of the United Party for National Development (UPND) and that he sees no basis for attributing such statements to her.
“This is a fake story. Silvia Masebo is a loyal member of the UPND, and I do not believe she could issue such a statement. We should not allow fabricated publications to create divisions among our members,” Mr Simuuwe said.
Mr Simuuwe said the UPND’s attention remains on the Grow Zambia Agenda, the transition from economic stabilisation to growth, and ensuring that economic expansion delivers tangible benefits to ordinary Zambians.
“This is the only thing the PF has on their table. They have no message for the people of Zambia. We will not waste our time lowering our calibre to their level of reasoning,” he said.
Referring to the ECZ consolidated presidential results, Mr Simuuwe said the more than three million votes recorded should reinforce the need to focus on the issues that matter to citizens.
“Ba 3 million have no time for rubbish. They expect us to focus on development, growth, jobs, economic opportunities and improving their lives,” Mr Simuuwe said.
He advised UPND members and supporters to rely on information issued through the party’s official communication channels, particularly UPND Zambia, which serves as the official party page, for verified party positions, statements and announcements.
Mr Simuuwe also commended the Zambia Police Service for its efforts to identify individuals behind social-media pages allegedly being used to circulate false or misleading information.
