Sweden to Deploy Patriot Air Defense Systems to Poland Near Russian Border
Sweden is transferring Patriot air defense systems to Poland to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank amid heightened security concerns along the alliance’s border with Russia.
The systems will be deployed in eastern Poland, near the Kaliningrad region, as NATO reinforces its air and missile defense capabilities amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and growing concerns over Russian attacks and hybrid threats.
The deployment is also intended to help protect critical NATO infrastructure and logistics routes supporting Ukraine, as Kyiv faces continued pressure on its air defense capabilities.
The move highlights NATO members’ growing efforts to reinforce the alliance’s eastern defenses and improve protection against potential missile, drone and other aerial threats.
