SYRIA’S AL-SHARA REPORTEDLY INJURED IN PALACE CLASH, ISRAEL WARNS IRAN PLANNING ASSASSINATION
Syria’s Ahmed al-Shara was reportedly lightly wounded in a recent clash at the Presidential Palace in Damascus, according to rumors circulating in the region.
Israel has warned al-Shara that Iran is planning to assassinate him, adding another volatile element to the Middle East’s rapidly escalating tensions.
Israeli military sources speaking anonymously said they’re preparing for Iran to launch an attack somewhere across the Middle East, with al-Shara potentially being a target.
The warning comes as Iran faces its worst domestic crisis in decades, with nationwide protests and a collapsing economy.
Tehran may be looking to strike externally to distract from internal chaos or to demonstrate strength as its regime teeters.
Al-Shara leads Syria’s transitional government after Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia following his regime’s collapse in 2024.
Iran had been Assad’s primary backer and maintained significant influence in Syria for years.
The situation adds urgency to reported Israeli strike plans that could launch within 48 hours.
