President Hakainde Hichilema writes….
Fellow Zambians,
Bill 7 has been one of the most topical and consequential issues of our time, one that has tested the strength of our democracy and the unity of our nation.
Throughout this process, we all engaged in lobbying and robust debate; we agreed and, at times, disagreed. As is the nature of any democratic process, such engagement must ultimately lead to a resolution.
The greatest winners in this process are the people of Zambia and our democracy itself. The people have spoken through their duly elected representatives, and as a nation committed to democratic principles, we must respect both the outcome and the collective resolve it represents.
Now is the time to turn our full attention to national development. We must do so as one people; Government, the opposition, civil society, and citizens alike, moving forward together in one direction.
United by our shared destiny, let us reaffirm our commitment to One Zambia, One Nation, and work collectively for the progress and prosperity of our country.
Hakainde Hichilema,
President of the Republic of Zambia.

Well and good
Teachers and other public Service workers are owed a lot of money by Government through unpaid leave days, allowances . Some have died leaving dependants destitute. Note that there isn’t much at pensions for those who die before reaching 20 years service, and the only benefits entitled to them are the unpaid allowances, leave days and repatriation, which the government has failed to pay.
Lecturers and other staff are also owed a lot of money in gratuities at the Copperbelt University and UNZA and in other public universities.
Yet the government sees it fit to have a bloated super Structure at huge cost of ” lazy bones ” who don’t do anything in Parliament apart from Making noise or sleeping, and getting paid … Some of these so called people ‘s representatives have never uttered a word from the time they went to Parliament .
Since you have the money to waste on lazy bones in a bloated Parliament , can Mr Hakainde Hichilema also pay the public service workers, Teachers , Lectures their dues. Lecturers at UNZA have planned to match to state house on 19th December to claim their dues…The dead Teachers and other public Service workers should also join this match so that Hakainde realizes how detached he is from reality.
Hakainde is not for matches and protests, him is for dialogue. If he can pay the retirees, can he fail to pay the workers? Money is not just paid to people as you give oranges or mangoes, there are procedures to be followed. Patience pays, those people will be paid. Hakainde knows how to save money, unlike his predecessor who sanctioned ukulya mwibala. People are even failing to spend the money he is giving them through CDF, he even wants more Constituencies he knows money is there.
