Tiger Woods Faces DUI Arrest After Florida Rollover Crash
Newly released bodycam footage shows golf legend Tiger Woods explaining his March 27 rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, by saying he looked down at his phone.
“I looked down at my phone and all of a sudden, boom,” Woods told officers at the scene after his Land Rover clipped a truck and flipped onto its side.
Deputies observed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. They removed two pills from his pocket. Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI. No one was injured in the crash.
Woods has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Woods addressed the incident directly.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
The footage comes as Woods, who has a history of back surgeries and past rehabilitation, confronts yet another setback involving driving and impairment concerns.
