TONSE MEMBERS HAVE NOT ACCEPTED HICHILEMA AS PRESIDENT, SAYS MUHABI LUNGU.
Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Secretary General Muhabi Lungu says the alliance has not accepted the results of the August 2026 presidential election or recognised Hakainde Hichilema as President.
Mr Lungu says it is not surprising that even football fans across the country are chanting “Pelempi” because they believe Brian Mundubile is the winner of the 2026 General Election.
He says many Zambians are likely to boo the UPND and President Hakainde Hichilema because they believe the election was stolen.
Mr Lungu says it is unacceptable to arrest someone whom many people believe won an election.
“The truth of the matter is that the majority of Zambians believe that Brian Mundubile won the 2026 General Election and that his victory was stolen. After his victory was stolen, he was arrested by the same people who are belived to have stolen his victory. So, where is the fairness in that?” he wondered.
“If you watch how events are unfolding, you will realise that even people watching football across the country are chanting ‘Pelempi’ because they recognise Mundubile as the real winner of the August General Election,” he said.
Mr Lungu was speaking when he featured on a programme dubbed Pa Ground, hosted by Thomas Afroman Mwale on Sunday FM.

The President already said it, we should now put the elections behind us and move on by embracing the Grow Zambia Agenda. Whether ba Tonse accept the results or not, whether they recognize the president or not, that does not change anything on the ground. Things already happened on 13th August, 2026, Zambians voted and decided, HH won and Mundubile lost. Your much anticipated win never came, so you need to heal and move on with the rest of the nation. Time for politics is over, it’s now time to work and develop the country.
Muhabi Lungu should know that to actually win the elections and to believe that someone had won the elections are two different things. If the Tonse wants to continue believing that their leader won the elections, let them continue with their belief but facts on the ground remain the same, HH won and Mundubile lost. Mundubile is himself to blame, he underrated some provinces by under campaigning there, so how can he have won the elections when he did not even campaign is some provinces? HH went three times to each of the ten provinces, he first met party members at Provincial headquarters, then he went twice to each province for campaigns and the same Tonse people were laughing at him that he was panicking. But his panicking paid off and he deserves it. People have said it time and again that in every election, there are winners and losers and people enter the competition should be presorted for any outcome. Those who are not prepared to accept the losing should not participate in future elections. If HH lost five times and there were no issues, why should we have issues now when Mundubile has just lost once?
It does not make any difference whether Mr. Muhabi Lungu and his crowd accept Mr. Hichilema as State President or not. The whole world and all Zambia’s institutions DO accept him as such and he continues to function as State President.
Just make sure that in your rejection of Mr. Hichilema as State President, you donot foolishly break the law.
That is the point, Muhabi Lungu may end up with criminal charges. He is too excited about being Tonse Alliance Secretary General and yet Tonse is not even a legal entity.
