TRUMP ADMINISTRATION TIGHTENS THE NOOSE ON IRAN WITH NEW TASK FORCE TO SHUT DOWN LAND SMUGGLING ROUTES
CENTCOM has just launched Task Force Iron Gate to cut off Iran’s remaining land and Caspian Sea routes for weapons, dual-use technology, sanctioned materials, and illegal cash. Commander Adm. Brad Cooper ordered the creation of this small, focused team of about 20 military and civilian personnel based in Tampa, Florida. It will work with other U.S. federal agencies to block the movement of advanced weapons systems and illicit revenue that the regime has been trying to move overland after the Navy already sealed off its ports.
This builds directly on the ongoing naval blockade. CENTCOM states that the blockade has already stopped Iran from exporting more than $25 billion in crude oil in recent months, with strict enforcement continuing against every ship entering or leaving Iranian ports.
Cooper’s statement is clear: “The establishment of Task Force Iron Gate reinforces the success of our ironclad blockade against Iran at sea. Strengthening CENTCOM’s collaboration with U.S. interagency partners will further constrain Iran’s ability to finance terrorism, rebuild weapons factories, and replenish their military.”
The regime is being systematically denied the cash and materials it needs to fund proxies, rearm, and sustain its military. With sea routes already choked and land routes now under targeted interagency pressure, the financial and logistical lifelines that have kept Iran’s terrorist and military operations going are being closed off.
