BREAKING: Trump Eyes Mass Cabinet Purge After Bondi Firing as Lutnick and Chavez-DeRemer Now on Chopping Block

Donald Trump is not done cleaning house. One day after ousting Attorney General Pam Bondi, the president is now weighing whether to push out Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of his thinking.

“He’s very angry and he’s going to be moving people,” one administration official told reporters, speaking anonymously to discuss what remains an unresolved situation inside the White House.

Lutnick, a Wall Street veteran and longtime Trump ally, has few friends inside the building beyond the president himself. He has long been rumored to be on the chopping block, and insiders now describe him as being on “thin ice.” Critics inside and outside the administration have painted him as someone who routinely pitches ideas others are left to clean up. Trump has also privately expressed frustration that Lutnick’s family has financially benefited from their proximity to the administration.

Chavez-DeRemer faces a different set of problems. The Labor Department’s inspector general is actively investigating allegations against her that include drinking on the job, an alleged affair with a security officer, and whether her staff improperly used official government events to cover personal travel. She has denied any wrongdoing.

The shakeup follows last month’s removal of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and represents the most significant restructuring of Trump’s Cabinet since he took office. One official framed the potential Lutnick firing as a political opportunity, saying it would allow Trump to tell voters he is taking action on the economy.

Trump has named Todd Blanche as acting attorney general following Bondi’s departure, and insiders describe Blanche as the front-runner for a permanent appointment. Lee Zeldin, currently running the EPA, was also reportedly floated as a possible replacement for Bondi.

No final decisions have been announced, but it’s a bad day to be a member of Trump’s cabinet!
