UK: RUSSIA MAY HAVE LOST 500,000 TROOPS IN UKRAINE
British military intelligence estimates that around 500,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with total Russian casualties including wounded personnel reaching approximately 1.5 million.
UK Chief of the Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich Knighton said most of Russia’s losses occurred after January 2023, while Russian forces gained only around 2% additional Ukrainian territory during that period.
“These numbers illustrate clearly the senseless and futile waste of human life for such little progress,” Knighton said.
