United States: Ohio-Class SSGN Submarine Spotted Near Mediterranean, Special Forces Deployment Suspected
A U.S. Navy nuclear-powered guided missile submarine (SSGN), believed to be USS Ohio, has been detected conducting logistical operations near Gibraltar, a key gateway to the Mediterranean and Middle East.
The movement is drawing global attention, as SSGN submarines are among the most versatile assets in the U.S. arsenal, often deployed for high-priority missions. Only 4 out of 18 Ohio-class submarines have been converted for this role, capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk missiles.
The platform is also designed to support special operations forces, fueling speculation that Washington may be preparing covert underwater infiltration missions as tensions continue to escalate.
