UPND GOVT’S ILL TREATMENT TOWARDS MIKALILE SICKENS KAPYANGA AND KALOBO

Mpika Member of Parliament Francis Kapyanga has expressed displeasure with the manner in which the “government of angels” is treating renowned Zambian businessman Mikalile.
Commenting on the report that has been constituted on the US$13 billion external debt, Hon Kapyanga said what is shocking is that the report is focusing so much on a company owned by a Zambian called Mikalile Trading.
He lamented that the government entered into an agreement with a foreign entity to supply items to the Ministry of Education.
“The Zambian government is owning Mikalile about US$499 million, the government was supposed to start paying in 2021, but instead of paying, government decided to sanction a special audit report in order to have an opportunity to smear Mikalile…” he said.
“What the Zambian public might be interested in to know is that when Mikalile was called to give their side of the story, they actually produced even delivery notes for all the goods that they delivered to the Ministry of Education.”
The lawmaker disclosed that Mikalile’s is the only company that is being audited by the office of the Auditor General.
He argued that the office in question is not mandated to audit private firms.
On the UPND’s attempt to change the constitution to prolong their stay in power, the Lawmaker wondered “if one has failed in five years, how will they manage in seven years?”
“And this is happening at a time when the Zambian people are saying 2026 is too far so that they remove the UPND people. I know the UPND have been told that even if they hired 24 sangomas, they will not win the 2026 general elections. The pain and anguish, the hunger that these people have subjected the Zambians to is what has made the Zambian people to decide to change the government,” he said.
“The Zambian people are very angry with the UPND governemnt to an extent where everyone suspected to be UPND, the Zambian people are not seeing them in good light. We are not going to allow the 50 plus one clause in the constitution. Why are they scared? They won with a bigger margin in 2021.”
Meanwhile, Wusakile Member of Parliament Pavyuma Kalobo said when the Secretary to the Cabinet appeared before the committee, he indicated that all recommendations regarding Mikalile were provided for and that he complained bitterly.
“Then, again, the Attorney General appeared before the committee. He was also questioning the procedure, if the procedure in awarding the contract were followed. And he submitted that everything was followed to the latter and all government lawyers cleared the issue,” he said.
“What is the motive behind the committee? If you look at the recommendation, they are saying this Zambian offered a service to us, to the nation, he needs to be paid. Propaganda will not help this country. Calling each other thieves when people have not stolen will not help.”

What is this mans interest in Mikalile? Is he a shareholder?
Mikalile, according to reports seems to have a foothold in the Public procurement game with a debt owed to him that seems hard to justify.
The quailty of the “merch” ( as reported is being brought to question) and its intetesting when there us a myriad of suppliers why one supplier seems to have cornered the market.
Given these facts and more that have been left out. Ine has to ask why this man is so out spoke for the man?
