UPND invited Lungu back into active politics, stop harassing him – Chungu

By Zumani Katasefa in Luanshya(The Mast)

FORMER Luanshya member of parliament Stephen Chungu has advised the UPND administration to revisit the taxation policy in the mining sector.

And Chungu argues that by perpetually talking about the former president, the UPND has invited “Mr Lungu back into active politics”.

He says once the mining policy, which currently favours foreign investors, is revisited it would help improve the country’s economy.

“They have two more years to go so it is up to them to revisit the taxation policies so that we can have more money in circulation,” Chungu told The Mast.

He said the withdraw of money from circulation has made lives of many Zambians unbearable as they cannot afford essential commodities such as mealie meal.

Chungu also urged President Hakainde Hichilema not to listen to people who are wrongly advising him on the governance of the country.

He noted that the same things that were happening in the PF government where leaders were told that everything is okay are happening today in the UPND administration.

“This is exactly what I am seeing, where our leaders were been told that everything is okay. This is exactly what I am seeing where these so-called praise singers are behaving like useful idiots are every day misleading the government,” Chungu said.

Meanwhile, Chungu appealed to the new dawn to stop harassing former president Edgar Lungu.

He said by perpetually talking about Lungu, the UPND has invited “Mr Lungu back into active politics”.

Chungu added that the UPND government should not heap their failure to govern the country on Mr Lungu.

“Former president Lungu has every right to come into politics. He has every constitutional right to come back into politics,” said Chungu.

  1. Honorable, sure following up previous corruption cases and mentioning the debt amounts to talking about Lungu. In what sense? If you want to talk about Lungu’s come back or how you think he is being persecuted mustn’t you you talk about upnd and current govt? Not possible certainly as these are dependant variables. See how you’re also talking about yhe upnd, that’s what it is. Even for the govt have to refer to the past, UNIP, MMD and of course your PF which you don’t want touched. Don’t we continuously talk about one Zambia, one nation and referring to KK and others consistently. Only difference is that one is being talked about the good done while the other only bad. History means studying about the past to know the present and predict the future. Pipo should be free to talk about past present and future leaders. Those who think this is too much shouldn’t have joined governance and those who are currently ruling and are not comfortable to be talked about must leave, further; those who wish to be part of the game in future and think pipo mustn’t talk about them must not at all consider joining. We’re sick and tired of the same things, stealing from the citizens in the name of politics when these pipo are already way ahead previlledged than most if not all other citizens.

  2. In the first place, Mr. Lungu never left politics. Otherwise why was he not replaced as leader of PF?

He “came back” in a bid to protect his ill gotten wealth. It has nothing to do with his being talked about or the challenges we are facing.

  3. Mr Chungu have you lived in Zambia for some good time really? If you have them it is amazing to note that you don’t know Mr ECL’s appetite for power. He does not need anyone to push him for that because he pushes himself.People can not stop talking about him.He was president of Zambia not even the waves of the ocean can destroy that truth. He is now in books even the unborn will read about him.His good part and bad will be subject to debate for sometime. What tax system did ECL leave in the mining sector and you admired it? Have you read about Milingo in the mining sector? You people especially honourables astound me a lot.You are aware of governance system in Zambia from Kaunda days to date and you know what has happened to our economy why do you want to bury you head in the sand.No body is above the law if you are found wanting the law will take it’s course. If you are proved innocent the better for you. When a President is sworn in it is not for decorations or fulfilment of rituals you understand. It is to agree to protect the interest of the people of the country and their well being and to protect the people from exploitation.Economic surbortage for self gains is discouraged there in.You may have your own hidden agenda but you are on your own you understand.

  4. Lungu handed power with confused set of mind. He has never believed that he lost power, moreover he feels relieved when his lieutenants lie to him that he’s still required by the Zambian people. Forgetting that PF had and still has supporters, but the party supporters can not outnumbered the Zambian eligible voters.
So it’s the same number or less that still feel Lungu can come back. So let this man completely retire and start leading quite life as he’s aging

    • All of you, who ever you are: Buddy,JMC,Muleta, Aikonman, listen:we are all arguing thinking our country has a democratic dispensation. Wrong! We are in the Matrix ! We are all meant to fight each another, brother against brother,Tonga against Bemba etc. International business forces have captured Zambia through the innocent Hichilema to create a permanent hold on our resources: copper, cobalt etc for the electric and AI revolution. They want Hichilema to remain in control ad infinitum, not for UPND,not for Tongas but for them! In this way, we are going to remain their economic captives instead of becoming the next economic giants like the oil rich countries who are now in decline.
Let us join forces and rescue our country.Put aside our ethnic/regional differences. Let’s enjoy our diversity and preserve our Zambia.
The alternative is another Uganda with a Museveni figure in situ. Our Tonga brothers dare not complain lest they are branded as traitors. What rubbish! Let’s all wake up and rescue Southern Province and the rest!!
All the institutions are captured: the judiciary to make sure all political legal challenges are dismissed or thrown out. The ECZ to exclude serious opponents from the ballot, except for Sampa ,the police to arrest all serious presidential challengers, Parliament to declare “hostile opposition MPs” expelled: triggering by-elections to field proxies to gain 2/3 majority and change the constitution etc. A master stroke for state capture!!!
