UPND’S FOUR YEARS IN POWER DESCRIBED AS A SUCCESS STORY – GETRUDE IMENDA
September, 2, 2025
LUSAKA – United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Secretary General, Ms Getrude Imenda, has described the party’s four years in government as a success, saying several key policies have kept the nation afloat despite challenges.
Featuring on a live issues radio programme, Ms Imenda said the UPND administration has managed to steer the country through difficult times. “If it’s not for UPND in power, things could be worse,” she said, noting that the government inherited a huge debt burden and the impact of a devastating drought.
She highlighted the successful debt restructuring process as one of the administration’s biggest achievements, adding that this has given Zambia fiscal space to invest in priority sectors.
Ms Imenda explained that although the economy is not yet fully recovered, UPND’s policies have cushioned citizens. “Measures like free education and mass recruitment in health and education have brought relief to many households,” she said.
The Deputy Secretary General also pointed to progress in the mining sector, where government efforts to revamp operations have created more job opportunities for Zambians.
In the agricultural sector, she emphasized that reforms under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP), together with early distribution of inputs, have boosted production. “We have managed to secure a bumper harvest, which is a strong sign of stability,” Ms Imenda said.
She concluded that the UPND remains committed to delivering on its promises and urged citizens to recognize the gains made so far, while acknowledging that more work still lies ahead.
At four years in office, the ruling party is seeking to convince voters that its reforms are laying a firm foundation for economic recovery and long-term national development.
(C) UPND MEDIA TEAM

This media team is a let down. Where are in terms of say copper production in 2025 vs where we were in 2021? Can we list new hospital that have been built since? How many pupils are school today? My friend Joseph Haamwansa, Apartheid South Africa was building Roads, Schools, Clinics and Hospitals. What the oppressed people of South Africa yearned for was democracy.. Freedom. And they fought for these and achieved in 1994.
It’s the ideals of Freedom against Tyranny.. against Autocracy, against Dictatorship which moves mountains. This is what causes someone to refuse Food, to deny his whole for the sake of ideals for the voice of choice, of association and of expression.
Mafia Democracy has never worked any where… Pablo Escobar ‘s Mendelin Cartel was able to build schools, universities, provide Free education, Hospitals, community Social Cash Transfer for Widows and less privileged in Community, talk of contributions to Churches.. But he was a Criminal. And he ended up as all criminals end.
We are a Democracy, a multi party democracy, with an Executive, Legislature and Judiciary which should function for the Republic of Zambia, for the people.
These shouldn’t be in a pocket of one man.
There should be equality before the law…And not the rule of the Sacreds, by Sacreds, and for Sacreds.
The Institutions of Governance should Work without undue influence .
Political Parties should be allowed to exist..they are part of our Governance Systems.
This is what defines a country..our Multi Party Democractic Zambia.
And when people scent Mafia Democracy…God father Politics, Politics of Exclusion, you can stand on the top of Muchinga Escarpment, Mbala Hills, and shout about CDF, Free Education, 20% NAPSA Withdrawals, Imita Ufole, Cash for work programs etc,…no one will listen.
No matter what the Spinners do, the Publicists or propagandists do, we know where we are coming from, where we are , and where we are going…if we don’t change our fate.
And my fate is on my Ballot on 13th August,2026
On my Ballot will be
Hakainde’s Executive Misrule
Nellie Mutti ‘s Parliament
Mumba Malila’s Judiciary
The Axis of….
The Axis will fall on 13th August, 2026.
The one Hundred Thousand Kwacha NKUKU Man will soon create a website, so that I contribute to the direction of our Country..A necessary Discourse to save Zambia
Watch the space.
