US-ISRAEL STRIKE BLOWS UP IRAN PEACE TALKS, KILLS NEGOTIATOR’S WIFE

Kamal Kharazi, Iran’s former foreign minister and head of its Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, was seriously wounded when US and Israeli forces struck his home in Tehran. His wife was killed in the attack.

Kharazi had been quietly working through Pakistan to set up backchannel talks between Iranian officials and Vice President JD Vance. While he pushed for a possible meeting to dial down the conflict, American and Israeli jets delivered a different message, right to his doorstep.

This is no way to win a war or secure peace. Hitting a key figure trying to open a diplomatic door only hardens Iran’s regime, rallies its hardliners, and makes any off-ramp tougher for the United States.

America should focus on crushing threats to interests and allies, not sabotaging the very channels that could force Tehran to the table. Weakness invites escalation. Precision against real enemies is strength. Bombing the guy arranging talks with Vance sends the wrong signal and risks dragging the US deeper into a messy regional fight we don’t need.
