VIDEO: MASEBO QUARRELS WITH VOLUNTEERS SHE PROMISED JOBS WHILE SHE WAS MINISTER

FORMER MINISTER of Health Sylvia Masebo yesterday lost her cool when she addressed volunteer workers who went to Ndeke House to have an audience with Ministry officials.

The cholera volunteers had gone to seek an update from the government on the Presidential directives concerning their employment.

Ms Masebo, who was accompanied by the newly appointed Minister of Health Elijah Muchima, accused the aggrieved volunteer health workers of being sent to cause confusion.

The visibly upset Masebo reprimanded the workers, accusing them of bringing up issues that were not part of the meeting’s agenda.

“If you have been sent here to bring confusion, we will not allow that, and I will not allow the new Minister to be abused,” she said.

She further accused the volunteers of being undisciplined, questioning how they would work in hospitals with such attitudes.

“I know some of you have been sent. My dear, I belong to this province; I know Lusaka better than you think. I was not sitting in hospitals for nothing to come and be undressed here. Who do you think you are?” she said, as the newly appointed Minister looked on helplessly.

    • How? For some of these people to be employed they have to be cleared. Let alone the funding to be available. Be objective. One track linear thinking is not productive.
Some of you cant handle the truth….Masebo is detasted because she says it like it is. And before she leaves she is standing with her successor so that issues are not misunderstood.

  1. The MOH Procurement Cartel is laughing at Zambians big time … Kikikiki
As far as I can see, Masebo may be a victim of the entrenched Cartel in our Pharmaceuticals value chain. I saw jubilation among some of our Pharmaceuticals friends. We just hope the new minister is not going to be their next victim.
We have been there and will tell you how people in Procurement Department, Finance, HR are of Supplier Payrolls.
Some of us turned down very attractive inducements because of being Patriotic! But when you do that, you automatically become their enemy and they will make sure they oil all the weak souls around you and that’s how you end up in Masebo’s situation!
We have been there and will tell you how rotten our country is when it comes to nichekeleko!
Her proposal for a Government to Government (G2G) is the best but the Cartel is too powerful!

  2. The volunteers were wrong, why seeing the Minister in public, they should have requested her to meet them privately if possible, alternatively, the could have made an appointment to meet her even at her new office at the Ministry of Lands. So the issue could be genuine but the approach was quite wrong or bad.
